  • The linkage between turbo and electric actuator can get crusty, rusty and stuck. Mallory will show us what she found and what she did to fix it. Her van was in limp mode, wouldn't accelerate normal or rev up. When testing the MAF according to another FVM video, she found the turbo linkage did not pop up and down as shown in this video: • Testing the MAF on you...

    Coming back to this one! I just recently dealt with a loss of power, no turbo and black smoke which felt like A/F issue, No codes on OM647.
    EGR was fully stuck and clogged, cleaned that up and all well now but come think of it both bad EGR and actuator seem to produce similar symptoms so now with EGR cleaning I'm going to inspect, clean and lubricate the actuator at the same time.

    Nice ! I was wondering if it could move freely when not working! Thanks again for your advice and professional tips!

    Great video. Good to see the Turbo at the end. Very cool to the Sprinter Tech for initiating this video.
    i have no turbo action at all right now with my 04 Short and Low. Very hoping this will be the case.
    thank You for the knowledge of the clips.

    Would you recommend preemptively hitting it with a rust lubricant product such as PB blaster.

      Definitely. I wash and oil my entire engine bay occasionally. Wash with Dawn dishwater and rinse. Dry with a leaf blower, drive to warm/dry, then spray everything with WD-40 or similar oil spray.

    Loving your channel! I have fixed so many things I would have never attempted if it , wasn't for your straightforward instructions.
    Question about the clip, if it does go flying, where can a replacement be ordered from? Mine may have taken flight....

      "Been there, done that!" LOL
      Any local hardware store will have "E-Springs" but you'll want to ask where because they don't display these tiny parts. You may need to try a few sizes to see what fits.

    I have a 2008 sprinter 3.0 very hard to start changed the fly wheel sensor still hard to start I have to use ether to get it started runs perrfect when it starts but if you switch it off for just a second it will be hard to start again was wondering if it might be the injector pump ?

    • @FloridaVanMan
      @FloridaVanMan  Před 2 lety

      I'm not familiar with the common* problems with a 2008, being an NCV3. But High Pressure Fuel Pump seems a likely culprit, unable to produce pressure at low RPMs. Theorizing, once the bump gets enough speed it will produce enough pressure to fire the injectors. Could also be a fuel rail or injectors releasing the rail pressure when volume is lower, as it would be with low RPMs until starting.

    Does this linkage get hot from the turbo? Would high temp grease be good for lubricating this part to keep it from rust freezing?

    • @FloridaVanMan
      @FloridaVanMan  Před 2 lety +1

      Seems like a good idea. That linkage definitely gets hot!

    was this the purple one? I think that one sat for a long time?

    • @FloridaVanMan
      @FloridaVanMan  Před 2 lety +1

      Purple Van was not harmed in the making of this video. Hehe There will be a new video of purple coming soon. In the opening I use some parts from our shelf to demonstrate the clip, but most of the video was shot by Mallory as we worked together diagnosing her van troubles by text and video.

      @@FloridaVanMan @Florida Van Man I'm just curious if that pin seized "while being driven regularly", or if it was parked for a good bit of time. I'd think it wouldn't if it was moving around (being driven), but parked in a moist climate could be a problem.

    • @FloridaVanMan
      @FloridaVanMan  Před 2 lety +1

      @@utahjohn5480 It was parked a while doing other things to it. I wonder if the turbo area was cleaned with degreaser before sitting, but we have seen this linkage frozen on a few project vans.
