So far this is the best video you ever made.. Would love to be there and see it in personal.. Cant wait the second part
I think it's my best too, thank you :) EDIT: Here's part 2! czcams.com/video/i7s1B4oV-Po/video.html
Dito.
***** These seems to be the big name stores. Are there many smaller stores there with counterfeits? ,,,, Guess we should just stick to the reputable stores
***** Have you ever listened to the IE800? Have any comments on how they are vs. the H3 (which I own) or the A3 (which I'm looking to own...especially after this video!).
Also...totally jelly...would love to visit stores like these. So much!
The stairs at that building are right out of a survival horror. O_O
Corinn Heathers I happen to love creepy corridors and this one is a real doozy!
***** I went there thousand of times already
Outstanding video. Makes me want to return to Hong Kong! Although I've been since, I had the pleasure of a 10-day HK visit in 1995, staying in Mong Kok. The main drawcard was 3 days of scintilllating airplane spotting and photography at the legendary Kai Tak airport. Walking around streets in the airport vicinity amid the deafening sound and sight of low-flying jets is branded in my memory. Eagerly awaiting your next video!
What a delightful thing to wake up to! I had a big smile on my face through most of this. Those stores are unbelievable. I've never seen anything like that. I'm not even sure there's places that wicked in America, none that I've seen anyway. I'm super jealous. The creepy sound effects were a cute touch :) I can't wait to see more! By the way, you hold up very well under all those tight close-ups.
You have no idea how dumb it feels to aim a camera at your face and make "I'm listening to this carefully" faces while people are staring at you lol
Ha ha! Just crack a smile once in a while and at least pretend you're enjoying yourself during those moments.
***** Close, I video myself for a bit of time while listening and I have 2 batteries and a 64GB memory card :)
***** yo i have a question what headset do u have on in this vid ?
***** thanks for making awesome videos like these for us....
Oh my, what a deal that is on the Fostex TH-600!! I thought I got a good deal on massdrop at US$550, but your price beats mine by a mile! And the sad thing is... I live in Hong Kong!!!
I love these HK videos. didn't know going up the stairs could be so scary!
Exactly what is so interesting about your trip thanks for doing tours like this, informative and hitting all the requests I had for you from when you where on your way there ;) have a great rest of your adventure!!
I really wish there were more dedicated stores to just audio in general. Online reviews can only give you so much as to going and testing it yourself in a store. Keep these videos coming man, I'm loving them.
I can't believe I'm only stumbling upon these videos after almost 3 years !!! Oh well, I'm in a YT binge-watching mood right now, and no commercials either :-)
Dude, great videos. amazing effort! keep doing what you love man
Damn bro, your reviews are excellent. Super detailed and great commentary, keep it up!!
This is great, very much looking forward to part 2!
Awesome vids my friend! Loved the quick humor, and information in this video. I especially love these videos in hong Kong.
Thanks! I wish I could go to more places and make videos like this!
Great video! Glad someones having fun this January.
one of my favorite videos. way to start the year strong my friend!
I also found that Hong Kong people prefer in-ear headphones.
I guess because of the size (more convenient), plus Hong Kong weather is hot and humid. Over-ear often causes my ears sweating, and earrings are my personal problem. Secondly, I believe that the appearance, stability and weight may be a factor as well.
If the factors are not on the headset. In my opinion, the problem exists in Hong Kong people's habits, such as using time.
I couldn't love this video more. Great work fellow audio lover!
excellent video! Very fun. Can't wait for part 2!
Nice, enjoyed this a lot. Keep up the good work!
I loved this video! Awesome work!
Loving these types of vids!
Nice video as usual, love the sound effect when you were deciding between the elevator or the stairs...kudos!!!
Those stores are crazy! Really liked this video
Great video Lachlan. You've got a nack for this kind of thing and I thoroughly enjoy the channel. Keep it up!
Thanks :) it was a bit more challenging to put this together than my usual videos but great fun!
This was really cool. Hong Kong seems like a nice place to visit.
best video ever!! well done. Enjoyed it alot =)
Great video. love seeing how other parts of the world are. Ive never seen a dedicated to headphones like that. Hope you find the best headphones
Mate, great video and amusing footages.
I'm keen to know whether you have decided on the TH600, although if I was there I'd probably grab it on impulse already..
Cannot wait for part 2! Quite an enticing video makes me wanna travel back to HK just to visit those stores. :D
I love all your faces while you're trying headphones out. You look more like you're chewing over a tough decision than listening to music.
I never knew about Jaben or Mingo, and I've been in that area a gazillion times, but that's the nature of shops there. You missed out on an even larger headphone shop near the Mong Kong Computer Centre called Kingsound. I took a look at those three places today.
Hey! I was actually just in Hong Kong the past few days and ended up checking out these stores in Mong Kok! I ended up having to decide between the Sony MDR-1A and the ATH MSR7...and went with the MSR7s from Broadway. Pretty happy with my purchase so far!
Great video !!, im so envy !!! those stores are insane !!!
this a disneyland to headphones lovers. I do not get tired of seeing this video
Great video. Loved he sound effects.
So cool
Awesomely a video just when I just woke up!
This was awesome!!! MOAR!!!!
Awesome video can't wait for part 2 and I think the elevator was nicer then the stairs 😜😊
Very good video, thanks a lot. I know a lot of headphone shops in Beijing and Tianjing but none of them has those almost-full/updated headphone/earphone collections as HongKong's. Thanks for your video, now I'm really attempting to HongKong just for earphone/headphone auditing ;-)
Really good video...i live in Italy and i never seen a shop like that! All those headphones to try!..Thanks you!
Best video you ever made! :D my favorite video on CZcams right now. The headphones I prefer are the Sony X10, I have not had a chance to listen to the X5 yet.
You just have chosen the perfect background music
Love this video, can you do more of the store tour and also I would like to see if you can try out the Fostex HT900, Final Audio (Pandora Hope VI) and Hi Fi man. Thanks
Absolutely amazing video, love your reviews and this just sums all of it up. PSST, I'm Cantonese too.
this is a really well made video!
Great Vid!!! awesome tour
Haha Jaben HK... that was a great experience. The staff was really nice and patient; especially when I took 3 trips (each time I got lost going to and from my hotel) to finally make my decision on what to buy. Wish it was easier to find, but I can't complain after experiencing that outstanding service.
Thanks for capturing the experience in video. I can now relive walking up those steps over and over again XD.
I am thoroughly enjoying this voyage through the Headphone/Gadget shops of Hong Kong; absolutely no complaints. I wonder if will also hit some of the restaurants and Nightlife establishments as well?
Great video! I have several headphones (Audeze, Denon, Beyer etc ...) and I can confirm that the Fostex TH600 and of course the TH900 are really the best for listening electronic music.
Very nice video. If I'll ever visit Hong Kong I'll be sure to visit these. Quick question, will you review the Sennheiser Momentum IE?
My house in HK is right around that area, and I can never get enough of these specialty headphone stores whenever I go back! There's nothing like this anywhere in the San Francisco Bay Area (as far as i know)... D:
Wow! awesome video. I wish there were stores like this where I live.
By the way, I'm really interested in hearing your opinion on the Fidue A83 earphones. Are you planning on trying those out sometime?
Never seen a headphone store like those in the usa , awesome !!
Nice video Lachlan, you should check out the computer market in Sham sui po, its really nice! (congratulations on 20,000 subs btw)
Very interesting video, thanks for sharing.
Wish we had some stores here in Denmark with such a wide range to choose from alongwith demo models.
Yikes, those stairs look super creepy though. :o
Quite a few nice touches on this vids, good work sir!
Google Glass may be quite cool for this kind of trip. :)
I envie the optiins of headphone shops and ability to demo units that Honk Kong has...amazing video mate love the channel.....
Great video!
Whoa! Those are exactly the kind of stores I've been looking for! Demo stations for everything and a huge variety in inventory. mmmmm...I'm drooling on my keyboard. Sadly, the best thing I have is a Best Buy with Magnolia.
Thanks for sharing this valuable video.
There are still many other stores in Mongkok that I think you should cover:
1. FS Digital (LEAR)
2. DMA Audio
3. Music Cafe
4. Kingsound
5. Caesar Palace
wow that's pretty cool Lachlan new video already hooked and now i have to wait for the next one :(
Fantastic job, man! By the way, did u give a listen to fostex te-05?
Did you get to try any of the new final audio over the ear products , heard that they are pretty popular over there ?
I look forward to the others :)
Those shops look so cool. Never seen anything like it.
Dude, you should open up your own store and open it in Australia, you would kick ass
Haha, very well-produced video
Cool video. I gotta go there in Hong Kong sometime before I die.
Those store are amazing!
OMG this is amazing!!!!!!
already love the first part
The Fostex TH line practically vibrates off my ears! As you said they're wonderful, great for electronica
Can you try out and maybe review the Fidue A83? Thanks
MongKok is always full of Headphone Store. Dig deeper and you will find more.
I am a HongKongese 2, so proud of you!!!
Hong Kong is still a awsome city!!!!
My God, I can't believe I missed all these stores! I only got to visit Sim City stores and Golden Computer Arcade stores! Also I didn't know you were a Hong Kong native. I should have consulted you before going to Hong Kong.
It looks like each of the IEMs you tried had some glue between the connector and the monitor. Am I seeing it correctly? Does this place glue all its cables?
Any tips on bargaining in these kind of stores? I will be going to Hong Kong soon and I hope to get some goodies but I don't actually have much experience in bargaining.
Nice video. Btw between xba h3 and xba a3 which one should i get? And does it need an amp? Because i will mainly use with my 6+
Awesome video you should do one of these in New York City, We have the largest selection of headphones to demo in the New York Area
Hello, I have a question about active noise canceling headphone. If I am at mainland in China, could you send it?
Any recommendations on very bass filled earbuds. I got some nice headphones but now I need some earbuds to finish my collection. Thanks
great job mate
Would you kindly, explain more about the shure se846 vs the primo 8?
Looked like you did some urban exploration there for a second.
hahahaa..I found myself laughing hard with the elevator and stairs scene..that was funny XD
Hey there Lachlan, Lovely video. Really interesting to get into the shops and see what is there. I don't think we have anything like that In London - I would have a hard time leaving!!
On your travels any chance you can give the B&O MH6 a listen - and give some comments - a review would be great if you have the time and opportunity.
I think they give the momentums and the MDR1a's a run for their money but there is a downside too. Very sparkly in the highs I think. Really interested in your view.
Thanks again for the HK Vid. Can't wait for the next part!!
Haha, help, I spilled my drink with the staircase/lift part.
It's nice seeing the inside of stores like this though. I wish there were similar, more specialized audio stores, where I live. Pretty much all we have in my city is a big consumer electronics store where 9/10th of the audio department are Beats headphones displayed. When I asked for a pair of Sennheiser HD 25, they told me they did not even sell them. Guh.
Awesome. I'm near San Francisco. Tell me there are stores like these here!! You should be at CES though. The folding Momentum MKII looks amazing.
I just want to ask your opinion on the differences between audio technica msr7 and custom pro one ? Althought I wanted to buy the msr7 but it was like $298 in Singapore but the custom pro one was $200 with a mook amplifier, btw I bought it from jaben Singapore
I'm looking for a set of headphones 30-60 bucks over ear so my ears don't get bothered and hot. Has to have good Bass planning it to use it for music + gaming do you have any recommendations?
Epic video. What stores they have in HK!
Another very interesting video, although it doesn't really appear very accessible for tourists to find these places without a little local help! Out of curiosity, did you manage to find any video game stores on your wonders?
maxlvl99 There are quite a number in the computer centres!
Hey man, I've been thinking about getting a new pair of cans for home use. I've been drawn to the JVC HA-SZ2000, however, there doesn't seem to be much about these headphones on CZcams or anything. Have you heard much these? Thanks.
There's some Jaben Store in Indonesia too... I'm planning to go to one near me these days...
Wow!! I want to make this trip, solely for the headphones....headphone heaven!!
Was the Philips Fidelio X2 there? If so, did you give it a try?
Those looked like awesome little shops. Here in rural Alabama I have to drive an hour to have even as good a selection as Best Buy.
I had the chance to visit Hong Kong last summer and it was a fantastic experience, went around the shopping area, that place you called Mongkong, but didn't come across these higher end headphones stores :( they seem well hidden from the public, which makes sense. Anyway, really nice video :)
It's Mong Kok :)
:D you're absolutely right, I literally wrote it from what I heard at that time and hadn't really checked it. Time to see beijing this year, so do you know something unknown to the public about it?
+element3663 No, I don't really know much about the mainland because I don't go often, but you should take a look around!
Heeelp me! I just bought a pair of hd650 and everyone says i should get a dac, amp, or one of those cool looking things with tubes on top. Are they really necessary? is there a real improvement? or is just to be accepted into the audiophile community??
hey guys can i ask if cannice headphones is also good?
