    Hey Lachlan, I am looking for a pair of headphones for Decent Bass, I have listened to the new Sony MDR-10RNC and liked the bass but not the design so much, but since this is the old i was thinking it would be almost the same for the Bass but in this it sounds like it dosnt have that much. I like the MDR-10s but i like the look of the MDR-1R's better than the Momentums. I am just wondering which Headphone has the best bass and most rich but not overpowering.

    Distractingly loud background music, but, what a wonderful review anyway. Your ability to articulate any notion you choose regarding any and every element of this headphones make - up, both physically and sonically, is truely great and the presentation of the facts is very easy to follow.
    I've seen plenty of mentions of these headphones on forums including head-fi. For me the diffuse imaging in what apparently is a nice soundstage would not make these a first choice for me.
    Would you ever consider doing a video review of the PSB-M4U2 or PSB M4U1? These are the only headphones, aside from some of the Sennheiser HD line, that I cannot seem to find a negative comment on regarding sound quality.
    Aside from complaints of heaviness to the build, excessive clamping pressure, slight microphonics, overly glossy plastic appearance, and in fact cracking in the plastic rim over the headband in earlier serial numbers, I've yet to hear anything but amazing reviews for PSB headphone sound.
    Would love to get your take on it. Anyway, thanks again for another worthwhile watch in product review.

    Hi there. Could you tell me which of these handsets are suitable for most of classical music, house, vocal trance, Ath-M40X, ath-m50x, MDR-1r or philips cityscape uptowan. I care about sound pure, deep, space and good separation of instruments as well as clean vocals. Important to the headphones sounded loud and clear but to no hissed.
    An example of music which can be heard: The Cascades-rhythm of the rain, Skye - not broken, chris pureka-cynical, route94-forget the girl, Russo-hold on. Regards

    Hi Lachlan, i just got the mdr 1r mk2 and i find the treble abit fatiegueing and sharp at times. particulary female vocals. It is certainly a warm sounding headphone but sometimes the female vocals just rip my ears apart with its sharpness... does it require time for it to burn it in for the treble to be toned down abit...

    lol, keep doing what your doing man, I think you do a good job at tech reviewing. I went for the momentums and I like them very much, things you said about build quality are true and and they sound great. plus, in the shop I noticed the thing about the wire twisting in the 3.5mm jack and making a noise on the mdr1r, plus all the pictures make the mdr1r's look metal but their not :(. Anyway, think I made the right choice. Cheers and keep it up. :)

    First of all, great background music, Lachlan!
    I bought the MDR-1r based on your review, and i must say that this headphones are perfect if you don't intend to use a portable AMP or DAC. I'm using only my note 2 and Ipod shufle and there is plenty of volume! It's true that they lack a little bit in bass, but that just makes the vocals and overal song more clear, in my opinion. If you are not listening to a lot of DnB and DubStep, these headphones are perfect.

    Hey, i´m really interessted in how you would compare the mdr 1R to the mdr 7550 and which you prefer. thinkin about getting one of them for home use, so isolation doens´t matter.I´m listening to all sorts of music but most of the time to hiphop and house and this often louder so im not so keen on too much highs but i dont like too much bass but sure also not too less for those kind of music, so i thought i could be happy with one of those 2. Would be happy if you could give a recommendation ;)

    In Romania the WS55X are nowhere to be found. Only the WS55. I'm not a bass person, but somethimes i like to listen some drum and base. But i listen on a wide variety of genders, from classical to heavy metal. So for this kind of music, what would you reccomend, based only on the sound quality, without considering the conform, build quality, price, etc. Does the base on the MDR-1R is really that nonexistent? I also heard that the MDR-1R can not be used outside on a windy day, is that true? THX!!

      @lachlanlikesathing  Před 10 lety +1

      I would hesitate about the MDR 1R if hip hop and rap are your thing. Their bass is just not tight enough in my opinion. I'd go the M50X, though soundstage is wider on the Sony. The Sony is more comfortable too so it's a tough choice. I can't think of too many alternatives but perhaps the KEF M500?

    • @k1ngz0nly85

      Yeah I'm probably going to buy the KEF m500 the sound signature what I like.
      The sony mdr I got them, I have to say they are awesome. The bass is good enough however when eq'ed from my LG G3 (highly recommend best phone I ever had) poweramp brings them to life. I have tried many
      Cans none touch it in comfort maybe the Bose quiet comforts and sennheiser open cans. For me it's hard to find comfortable fit plus quality sound. Hopefully the Mk2 ate Just as good. What have you heard lachlan on the new version? from an amurican good on yah mate!
