A LOT OF DUMB LOSERS (like me) HAVE SHITTY DADS and were raised by single moms whose only choice was toil or starvation. Its really not outlandish to think kids these days need to hear such advice. The amount of neglect (intentional or not) that is going on is unprecedented. You can be raised thinking fortnite is the best dopamine hit, or you can be raised thinking securing your future and making gains in money + knowledge is the best use of your time.

23 at the moment. Dropped out of art school at 19 when I realized how fucking empty the thought of doing marketing for the rest of my life made me feel. I study biotechnology now, the shit is hard but I love the struggle and trying to find and build my own company centered around it keeps me excited and full of energy. I work a job at a bakery that I'm currently toiling at, trying to find and execute on any fork that enters my path.
I started a knife sharpening business last March and it brings in decent money every month, not enough to live off of, but close. One of my customers fits the bill of the old rich guy that seems to enjoy imparting his knowledge. We were talking as we he was getting his knives back, he told me he started his company when he was 51 and made more money in 5 years than he did working 30 years for someone else. He made $20 million in his specific niche of a huge industry, and the path aligns with value that I think I can add for him. Shoutout the algorithm for putting this video my way, I'm going to find out what problems he has with his business and try solve one for free to get my foot in the door.

I think the natural (yet unnatural) progression of humans is a deeper symbiotic relationship with technology that hopefully will lead to an exogenous evolution of our species. I think we're seeing some early buds of that with AI, specifically the doors ChatGPT opened.
I'm primarily staying focused in the vein of synthetic biology, specifically synthetic fermentation technology. I saw how brittle the global supply chain was during covid, and war does seem par for the course with the looming decline of the US empire. I see fermentation technology as a means to grow high-value resources (think: drugs, industrial chemicals, etc.) using cheaper, more abundant resources to grow the things we need, locally.

Struggled to get my accounting diploma after coming to my senses and coming to the Lord, I am now working for my uncle at an insolvency firm and for the first time in my life I feel like my life is actually going somewhere. I had a job that I watched Netflix on 70% of the time there but I realized it made me lazy. But it was definitely better than what I am doing now.

Sam's right but you can thrust yourself out into the world too early, being an unformed person too young or too inexperienced, potentially get a bunch of good stuff, but the foundation is bad so it could all not work out. You'll kick yourself for what you did wrong and what you lost. It's a recipe for disaster and burning out. So just don't do that. Don't find out that the only way you are high functioning in environments like those is if you're running at 9,000 rpm going full speed sleeping little, eating less, working harder and more frequently. Being young you'll think you're king of the world eating ice cream bars all day only, smoking a pack, sleeping 5 hours, so long as you're pulling 5-10k in a month

Learned to code as per sam's advice, later got into well-paid positions and started looking into overemployment. as of now doing 3 remote jobs at 22 and the third one has kind of kept me stressed, although I promised myself I wouldn't let it get to me and drop it at the first sight of trouble. Scoring this month's paycheck and resigning, fuck this shit, burning out is not worth it. Sticking with 2 has been the perfect balance and greed got to me.

Your “goals” should be money. Do anything related to oil & gas and you will be set. Everyone makes money in this field, from the roughnecks to the petroleum engineers and everything in between

Unless you plan on quitting after a year to fund some other form of making money, I don't think you should be too concerned with getting that kind of job.
If you really want a welding job, just look into apprenticeships in your area. You already know welding people. Welding is one of the many jobs that require no college education to break into. I know a guy who wanted to become a boilermaker in Canada, he got in with no formal education beyond a HS diploma, he got paid to just look at people do their jobs during the learning process.

A 2 year tech diploma will get your foot in the door and you can squirrel your way into comfy positions. I’d recommend that route for you. If you’re too retarded for school just apply for bitch positions on the rig and eat shit until you’ve proven yourself. Don’t go a “no papers” route. Have some sort of credentials behind your name if you want to do contract work in O&G. Like I said, even the bitch positions on a rig make 6 figures. Just depends how bad you want it

How does one even find these jobs or mentors? I literally have never met someone who has giving me any valuable advice that i still use, and I want to avoid toil jobs but its gonna be hard for me who lives in a small town in Sweden, I need to go to University man, economics or something idk
I worked as a barista. I wanted to take Sam's advice of getting a skill. I decided on carpentry. I asked several regular customers who come to the coffee shop I worked at. One of them gave my number to his friend who is a carpenter & needed laborers. Now, I work for him, as well as several other carpenters (carpentry is very project-based & so rotating jobs among several different employers works well).
Just a heads up: i think university (especially a 4-year university) is a *REALLY* bad way to get a sense of direction, as Sam alludes to in several other videos.
You said you're interested in economics. Cool. But, how do you want to translate that interest in studying economics into a means of providing value for someone? I.e., what actual career or job do you want ? Consider that question. And then, once you know what job you might be interested in doing day-in & day-out, consider just interning in that position, or something similar
E.g., if you want to become an econometrician at an insurance company, maybe offer to intern at an insurance company first. Maybe just become the guy who gets coffee for the company econometrician. Whatever. Get closer to the end goal. And then maybe you will like it and want to go further. Or, maybe you will discover that you hate everything about it & definitely don't want to do it.
Yes it's a bit more nuanced than that. But, i'm just saying this to get you thinking in terms of pursuing an actual job rather than pursuing "education". Education often amounts to nothing useful

I do want to explain something about the job situation in Sweden though, and its alot diffrent from the US situation.
The market for jobs here is volatile, and usually the only ones who get jobs are the most qualified, those who have actual degrees, whatever your knowledge on a subject is, if you don't have a degree to back up your knowledge, you're not likely to get hired.
Because in Sweden, we have laws in place which makes it somewhat illegal to choose someone who is underqualified for certain jobs, Example:
If I try to get a job in some Economics area, and I do have the knowledge and wit to uphold that job, I will probably never get it, because the last thing companies want is to get sued by someone who is more qualified than me, and if they sue and win the case, they will get my job and damage payment.
They usually claim it was an act of slight or racism towards them, but mostly just discriminatory.
Also its very, very hard to fire people in Sweden, so companies usually only strafe for the most qualified anyways.

By your thirties you should be pulling in roughly 230k a year by either being very good at one job or by enhancing it with "side hustles".
The reason why you are still in a field is because you don't want to work more than 20 hours a week meanwhile you could have the same job & be more rich if you worked 70 hours.
