Same !!
I am 69 years old and chicago have filled my youth, I would never have imagined hearing their songs performed so masterfully today, it is true music has no boundaries !! Well done from Italy
OK, so I' m 65 years old and seeing you guys perform live just made my bucket list.
They are amazing live. Got to see them November 2019.
same here bud ! ✌️👍🏻😎🎧
Yeah, it's nice to get excited about music again.
67 here have seen Chicago live 3 times. Was planning to see this group until the Covid fiasco. Now that it's winding down replanning this outing.
I’m 60 and from Chicago. The city. But grew up with the music as well. Favorite concert was Saturday in the park at Soldiers Field. Benefit for Lincoln Park Zoo. Fantastic. I just picked up tickets to see this group in July. Just go for it Peter.
This was the first song on which its composer, James Pankow, sang lead vocal. The story goes that none of the group's three main vocalists - Peter Cetera, Terry Kath, or Robert Lamm - was able to sing the lead the way Pankow was envisioning it. Thus, their manager/producer, James William Guercio, told Pankow to sing the lead himself, rather than play trombone (though he does play a nice trombone solo at the very end of the piece).
simply awesome, and I was the guy in 1970's who was buying Chicago albums , first on the block ! played guitar in school jazz band , that was 40 yrs ago !!! Love this music... thanks guys for bringing me back ! Doing the music proud !
During these intense days, I must just come here for a dose of joy and comfort. These people are surely special. The love is infectious and uplifting. Thank you Leonid and your friends too.
Go see them in concert if you are able. Well worth the price. You will not be disappointed. :)
THE greatest Chicago tribute band in the world playing one of Chicago's finest tunes to perfection = A GREAT DAY!!!
Soooo much richer than Chicago’s original. You guys are awesome!!!!
Listening to Chicago is definitely a hard habit to break...
The solo trombone player wow!! He owns it.
Ye. F 2oct is highest note for trombone.
@@sergpavlov583
It's a very high note for only some very accomplished trombonists. I am a trombonist myself and cannot reach above a high E-flat, and I cannot always do that.
I have, however, known a few stellar trombonists who can play well above high F. They make the tenor trombone sound like a flugelhorn. It seems an impossibility to me how they can do it. With the ease that this gentleman hits that note, I can confidently say that his effective high range is also well beyond high F.
The music is beautiful, crisp, fresh and while it's Chicago's music, you now own it.
CLOSE YOUR EYES....you can barely tell the difference. It is SUPERLATIVE !
Very talented musicians! Congratulations!
As a landscape architect I've renovated, preserved, and restored many projects. These guys are restoring Chicago's originial masterpieces back to there originial glory for the next generation to fall in love with all over again. I feel like I'm hearing them for the first time myself.
nicely said
I’ll tell it straight out - Chicago is probably my favorite band of all time. That said, this group of musicians and singers just may have taken what Chicago created, and somehow, SOMEHOW sharpened the musicianship and vocals to make “excellence” even better!! I don’t think I’ve ever encountered a “cover band” (I hesitate to use the term, because it implies a degree of inferiority) so astoundingly talented! This assemblage of artists are in no way inferior to Chicago the band in its many iterations! Unbelievably, they could be considered even better, talent-wise than the original! I’ve said it before, and I’ll state it again - without equivocation: this band has taken the music of Chicago, and have raised it to a whole new level of excellence. Who could have dreamed it were possible! Kudos to Leonid for assembling such a talented group of artists around him. Their performances are stunningly excellent!
I think you've put your finger on it, Y.U. Chicago broke from the traditions of the day and created this sound, which took trainloads of creativity, imagination, talent, and innovation. The sound they created made them my favorite band, as well. (If it's possible to "wear out" a CD, it'll be my Chicago greatest hits mix disc.) Now comes L & F, and these mega-talented folks aren't "doing covers". They've picked up the baton, put a ton of work into capturing every element of the sound with laser-like precision.....and then in a dozen subtle ways, brought their own enhancements and energies to the sound to make it something new, fresh, and sparkling, while still channeling Chicago on every note. Major huge kudos to Leonid and the gang for what they've created.
David Collins, nailed it as well, Brother!
You read My Mind....
Wow! Well said my friend!
I can only agree cometely...superlative musicianship all round...
Superior musicians...vocals...and horns horns horns..
!..I can't get enough of this man..!!
It seems they are all rooting for each other...........no jealousy here. One for all and all for one.............I lOVE this band!
Incredible performance! Drummer! Bass Brass! Singers! All Musicians!!! THANK YOU!
First time I've heard this one. Love it. Love Sergey. Miss him. Of course they are all wonderful.
All you guys give a new life for the lovely music of that great group named CHICAGO...
Leonid has that bass GROWLING!!! Damn, they nailed another Chicago masterpiece!!
You guys are my favorite cover band of all time great job
Looking at the Rockies through my window while listening....nice.
FANTASTIC 💕 👍 😄🎈 as usual!!!!!
Serge, you are on our minds. Stay safe our friend.
The occasional Russian pronounciation of the words is very cute and only adds to their fabulousness!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
So wonderful to see both Serge's in the studio for this lovely song .......and then" the powers that be" decided to make war and caused so much death and destruction . If the world was controlled by musicians everybody would be happy. 😢😢😢😢
F’ing fantastic. Thanks so much for sharing this with the world 🙏😎✌️
Just nailed it! Trombone player was fantastic on the solo parts. I just love listening to these Chicago covers...they are immaculate.
The main reason these guys are so popular is because they perform the songs as they were originally recorded back in the day. For those who didn't attend concerts, where improvisation and/or riffs were standard fare for live events, the only memories of Chicago were developed by listening to the records over and over again. Studio versions - where charts are studiously followed with no improvisation became the bedrock for what people expected and still look forward to from this band. It's not surprising that Leonid and Friends is in a way more popular today than is the current iteration of the original band, because they adhere to the classic version of all the hits we grew up on. And, it shows to go ya that there is ALWAYS a way to make a profit in a capitalist system. Imagine, Russian musicians making a nice living touring the U.S. performing songs written by Chicago. What a country!
Yes and no my brother. Seeing Terry Kath rip 25 or 6 to 4 live at Chicago stadium in 1975 and 76, and Alpine valley in 1977 was pretty damn awesome! But yes we Chicago fans do love our original recordings!
Well done Leonid & Friends, you are all great musicians, and I love all your Chicago Covers, also the Earth, Wind and Fire song, keep them coming. Ian J. Scotland.
2:21, that's what I was waiting for! Awesome!!!
A James Pankow classic. He wrote the song and performed the lead vocals on the original. Leonid and Friends nailed it.... I am sure Jimmy is happy :)
I have never heard this song before seeing this video and it one of my favorite! Love the lead singer, horn section, bass and piano, you all are great! I play this song over and over again.
Oh that trombone though! Incredible!
I miss you Sergey.
That Tromboneer is just dam too professional!!!
Y.U.Doodat- I agree 100% with- I never thought this could be -BUT here we are lovin' it !!!
Imagine 1977, USSR, a suburb of the city of Ufa(this is southern Urals).I fm 16 years old, i am passionate about rock music.Where to get this music is not a problem; the problem is money. Mom every morning gives 10-20 kopecks for lunch at the school buffet (tea-3kopecks, cake-8kopecks). The rates for owners of contraband vinyl discs are 5 rubles per tape recording. Recording from a magnetic tape (from the first copy) cost 3 rubles. 1,5-2 months of "medical fasting" and I am the happy owner of an album of any rock group. Another trip to the music speculator ended with the recording of Chicago X from a magnetic coil. I have not seen the disc itself. I thought X was a letter. Later I found out that it was a number. And this particular song was on my "hot" playlist in the late 70s. The original is flawless, but I come back to Leonidas' version over and over again. She is adorable. (Google translate)
That bass player is no slouch...love this band..as close as you can get to the original..Igor is so good!
Dear Leonid, I have been a Chicago fan for over 35 years. But since I heard you an your friends, do I like hearing Chicago music from you as much as from the original. Keep up the good work, you´re great!
I've never thought I would hear this from another band than Chicago. That trombone solo let me speechless. I think I know a little why you're the best Chicago cover band. You are like a lot of us. You really love them... and it shows. I wish you the best.
Igor is an absolute joy to watch and listen too!
I miss that lead vocalist. He brought a certain whimsy and a hellova lot of talet to the group. Y'all are all GREAT!
Love love love this band. Supremely good musicians (what can't they do??), and seemingly oh so good friends.
Find a way to see them live, Folks. The band's friendship and joy, and extreme talent, make every live event they do a real treat.
I am really blown away by you guys. You actually sound better than Chicago on this song. I listened to their version and then yours again and I am totally impressed by your amazing talents. I wish that I could see you guys in concert one day. I’ve never heard a band sound as close to the original band as you do. It’s really unbelievable. You have definitely won me over as a fan. Fantastic job guys.

The greatest cover band ever!!!!
Super muzika.
The best ............the best I have ever heard ......you guys rock ....
This is unexpected to tears! :))))) I have never heard anything like it before. Yes, I could not imagine that there are such cool Russian guys. I am proud that I was born with them in one country and they speak Russian. This is the great sound of the Chicago music of the 70s where I grew up.
Blown away ! I discovered Chicago in 1969 on the way to High School. I'm 65 and Ive seen them live about 15 times. I would love to see this band !
Having covered this song many years ago you guys are just amazing. What a sonic tour de force.
I hope these guys start touring in the near future..............they were due to come to New York City in spring o 2021. I am hoping so..I will be there, cheering for this supernatural band.

I did not appreciate this number from Chicago X in 1976, as big a Chicago fan as I was back then at age 20. Seeing this video of Leonid and Friends doing it now, I realize how much this really rocks. Even if it's 44 years later. Hope to see them in Jim Thorpe, PA again this year.
Hello guys! I grew up in the suburbs of Chicago in the 1960's and 1970"s, where Chicago (the band) was a staple on the AM stations and the emerging FM stations. I also was in the Grade School and High School band in my home town. I played French Horn, Trumpet, Fluegelhorn and Valve Trombone, and just loved the Chicago sound. Now, after 40 plus years, you great and amazing friends from so far away have revived the great sounds for both a new and old audience! I thank you for all the time, love and care you put into your wonderful arrangements. It's like hearing the songs over again for the 1st time, these years later! BTW, have you thought about doing, "Thunder and Lightning"? Great vocal harmonies you will conquer and a Trombone outro that will be amazing! Peace friends!!
Igor is a machine. What a drummer!
& Leonid rocking that bass part!
The dynamics are oerfect!
Perfection!!!! You can play music, and YOU can play music tastefully. This is so good you start to salivate on every note that comes out from this group of masterful musicians. An obvious example of talent and dedication to showcase one of the best groups of its time. STANDING OVATION!!!
Drummer & the bass are the engine of the band ! Great stuff !
Igor is just amazing!
1. Amazing! It is truly inspiring to see just how beautifully Leonid and Friends (all of whom are excellent musicians and vocalists in their own right) have captured and resurrected the energy and excitement of the classic mid-70's era Chicago. The transcribed arrangements here are 95% faithful to the original recording (an incredible achievement all by itself) and yet they still leave room for Leonid and Friends to inject their own personalities and feeling into the songs. So well done!
2.Leonid and Friends is a very large group of extremely polished professional musicians, performing a flawless cover version of a song Chicago first recorded 41 years ago. Now imagine the incredible level of talent that Chicago was working with back then, as a self-contained band of 7-8 guys, who so routinely produced dozens of great songs like this during their long creative peak. How special was Chicago's rhythm section of guitarist Terry Kath, bassist Peter Cetera, drummer Danny Seraphine, and percussionist Lauder De Oliveira, that the recorded version of this song was literally their "#1 rehearsal" of the track?! They'd never even played the song together before - and this was the result! Then there's James Pankow, Chicago's legendary trombonist, who on this song earned these credits: composer, rhythm and brass arrangements, lead vocalist, trombone soloist, and piano. You Are On My Mind was written in 1976 for the band's 10th album. That's 41 years - unbelievable! Chicago was so far ahead of their time on so many levels, and these amazing videos by Leonid and Friends are the ultimate tribute to Chicago's enduring musical legacy.
Fantastic! Brothers
I keep coming back to this video...infectious groove...and KILLER TROMBONE SOLO!
This is indeed a fantastic trombone solo. .. and Maxim hit it out.
