    Using compressed air also pushes dust further into the filter further clogging the filter reducing efficiency, you're better of vacuuming on low power. Also, count how many vertical slots are in the filter more lines = more surface area meaning longer life.

      Thanks for the input! Yes, you are correct about the compressed air. It could push dust inward. Perhaps light blasts of air at a specified distance would be safer?

      @alex9483 Před 3 lety +3

      How about aiming the compressed air from the inside of the filter, thus blowing dust out?

    • @thefreshstart
      @thefreshstart  Před 3 lety +1

      Yes! That is a good idea. I’ve done that with other filters.

    3:43 I have tried both filters: oem which first came with my Dyson TP02 purifier and 3rd party from aliexpress. The oem has much better filtration of dust particles and odour. It has thicker HEPA layer and thick carbon layer. It weghts more than the cheap version which has not active carbon layer at all thus not removing gas and odours. Also, cheap version has thinner HEPA layer. I have noticed it on the 'loop' which get dusty faster than with oem. All in all I'm all year allergy person, so I can compare their quality really accurate. The cheap version is not that bad, it can be good replacement when we want to save some money. But the oem version is just much better choice if it comes to thorough filtration.

      Thank you for sharing! What you mentioned is really good information and makes perfect sense. I am planning on creating a follow up video soon and will mention some of the feedback especially yours if you don’t mind? (Giving credit to you of course) your statement ads validity to the question: Price vs Quality, which one fits your needs?

      @@thefreshstart yes, no problem! 👍 worth to mention oem filters are very very very expensive. Here in Poland it cost 220PLN...where I pay only 43PLN for the aliexpress version

      @@thefreshstart I have made a video where I disassembled 1.5 year old aliexpress filter and what I have found inside you can see here czcams.com/video/wLMFfw0MCaw/video.html

    Hello, I’m curious if anyone knows if the off brand filters are made to the same quality? And do we know if they use harmful chemicals in making them?
    I saw someone on Amazon wipe black off the filter and it made me wonder what quality checks they actually do.
    Thanks

    I didn't see an update as to how long the off brand filter lasted before needing replacement vs the Dyson filter...

  • @xyzabc52
    @xyzabc52 Před 2 lety +3

    We purchased a DP01 from Amazon, but when it arrived, we replaced the filter, but couldn’t close it. Apparently the non Dyson filter that we purchased has a flared out plastic rim, and stopped the top from closing. We had to return it.

    I use Rainbow srx power nozzle to deep clean the filter.

    The only thing I’ve noticed was the off brand may be cheaper but don’t last half as long as the Dyson!

      Yes, thanks for input. You are probably right. Although, It’s a good alternative to the Dyson version if you cannot find it in store or is back ordered. (As a temporary replacement.)

    Are we supposed to use the filter with the mesh or remove the mesh?

    • @thefreshstart
      @thefreshstart  Před rokem

      Hello! Leave the mesh screen as it is another layer of protection. Not necessarily part of the filtering but more of a structural barrier.

      I don’t…unless you are using a different Dyson product than I am?

    Dyson filter prices are outrageous....no wonder James Dyson is one of the richest men in the world...disgraceful greed,same as all these multi-billionaires.

  • @Reyoko69
    @Reyoko69 Před 3 lety +2

    If you do get the off brand it does void the warranty if you use this filter . I called dyson and thats what they told me im not sure how they would know though lol.

    • @thefreshstart
      @thefreshstart  Před 3 lety +6

      Exactly! “How would they know?” If you have your unit serviced with an aftermarket installed and Dyson sees this, then you might have an issue. I kept my original filter in my storage for instances like this.

    • @omarmartin3281
      @omarmartin3281 Před 3 lety

      Just make sure if you take it into service to have the original oem filter. Even if it’s dirty. Dyson asks $69 for the filter but I’m not sure if the Amazon ones filter as well as the Dyson branded ones

    • @thefreshstart
      @thefreshstart  Před 3 lety

      Thank! Yes, I kept my OEM Dyson filter in storage just in case. I looked on Amazon and did not find any genuine Dyson filters. Perhaps they will sell them in the future?

    • @ATDistinction
      @ATDistinction Před 3 lety +2

      Except in countries that protect the consumer. Unless the air filter specifically caused the damage to the Dyson the warranty can take a long walk of a short pier

    • @thefreshstart

    If you are that cheap that dont want to spend money on the original filter, you have bought the wrong purifier.

    • @thefreshstart
      @thefreshstart  Před 2 lety +6

      In my own defense and will be mentioning in a follow up video. When the Covid pandemic started, I could not find to purchase the original filter and was due to be replaced. It was out of stock every where including Dyson website. So I stumbled upon this filter as a back up.

    • @tom0900060
      @tom0900060 Před 2 lety +8

      The official filters are a rip off, the manufacturing cost is around 10-20 USD a piece yet how much are they selling for? The Chinese factories Dyson hired can make the same filters themselves non branded, using the same manufacturing line and materials and be 50-75% cheaper than the official price.
