You are a god
Thanks just about to buy a g37 great info!
I can really notice the difference when using regular gas compared to 91 or 94 octane, you do get better mileage on high test and you can use regular gas I've used it for a few years. I have a 2006 having the fuel problem now not reading, I have to take out the sending unit to clean it
Short Answer Yes
Depends on the vehicle.

is it ok to use regular on 07 infiniti g35
this works is more like damn im at a gas station miles away from a nother one and they only have regular fuel, pump it till you get to the city, thank you for the info.
That's a good way to explain it too
As mentioned in the manual you can use regular temporary if regular used avoid full throttle and fill with premium as possible
If you want to keep the power and fuel mileage its rated at, then yes you do.
If you want to save money at the pump then no, but you will sacrifice power and fuel economy.
I mean..used reg gas for a year since gas prices skyrocketed no issues or anything, I don't constantly rev/floor either, just a point a to b car no issues great economy :) so yes, regular is fine in the car to just like the guy said, I have done premium as well just slightly more jumpy. however. in my experience driving with premium the gas economy is worse idk why (2nd owner of this 37), other than that... fight me! :D
The important takeaway from this vid is - yes you can use 87 octane in a g35 of g37. He is not recommending that you do. You will sacrifice performance through a loss of UP TO 20% of your horsepower. You will also likely experience less desirable MPG. It was factory tuned for at least 91 octane to get the best out of the car. He is merely saying it is up to you if you downgrade your octane. The g35 and g37 will compensate for the lower octane without blowing up your engine. The choice is yours. PS I have an '09 g37 sport and she gets champagne NOT beer! LOL
That's a good summery. You will upset a lot of beer people with your champagne analogy.
Most gas stations only have 93 which is what I put in mine. 2005 g35 coupe with 190 miles and it’s an auto. My car stinks like exhaust, and gets about 13 mph. It’s horrible
from personaly experience of owning a g37x i used 87 for a few months untill switching to 93. using 87 didnt have any negative affect on my engine and after switching i didnt really notice much of a difference
If you were to keep using regular gas your motor would eventually start knocking, i know mine did because I didnt know, I started reading articals and it said using regular gas will cause knocking in the motor which cause you to need a new motor
Ive got a 2006 G35, i pay $85 a week for 91 octane and it fills it up to around 3/4 of the way, usually gets 250 km, not that great but gas is crazy expensive in BC Canada lol
Prices in BC are crazy..
O how i wish it was 85$ still lol 130 now for the same car
@@nicktartaglia1671 well that was 2 years ago lol i pay $150 now with the new carbon tax in Canada 😭
If your g35 has been tuned and timing advanced. Premium is a must. Also Plz be mindful where u buy your gas. I bought premium at sam’s club and my car is currently running like crap
You are correct. Tuned vehicles with timing map will be disastrous. But this video is intended for stock vehicles.
I usually pump 87 gas and i want to start pumping 91 what do i have to do do i just pump 91
Start pumping 91.
@@runningrich yk i wince everytime i looked at my account and gas gauge and dreaded just getting 89 and have been saving up for a motor now im stoked i can use that money for parts like a y pipe or cold air intake
Well I put it to the test...I had a 1 hour commute each way for 6 days...I started with Premium gas, tank range was about 390 miles...Then I switched to Regular gas, tank range went down to about 350 miles...This was at 70mph using the cruise control...Also I did a redline pull in second gear using each fuel...Using Regular fuel, the car felt sluggish reaching the high RPMs...Switching again to Premium fuel to get the fun back in the car!
I will agree with your result. They do experience some reduced performance and might with regular gas.
Nice job 👍💗
Thank you
I used regular gas on my G35 coupe for almost 4 years, never had problems, it’s fully stock too.
Thats awesome
Yeah it’s probably a lot slower than every other g bc they run the gas they were told to and can understand the difference in compression ratios.
@@toxicity6629 I've ran 87/regular for a full 2 years just fine on my sedan and it's perfect but will compare fuels soon.
I dont have a Infiniti but can say that in my 03 s55 amg kompressor sometimes I put regular gas here and there mixer with premium, maybe I'm lucky but don't have a problem, yes u right gas economy is bad! I just cruise in my car maybe is another reason don't have a knock problem or something!
Dudeeeeeee. Don't to that in the Kompressor engine. It's high compression engine. It will knock ping and preignite. You may need a new motor.
Thanks I do that! Only premium!
Car-Addiction I used 87 on my car and it stalls
Interesting. Something else is wrong with the car. It was either really old gas or something else. I drove my G35 with regular gas and lot of people I know drives their G35 with regular gas.
Car-Addiction yah I think cam shaft sensors but idk where to find them I’ve been looking lmao
How do you take your coffee?
Also I had no idea you have a G35! We need a state of your fleet update
Hahahaha. The fleet update!! Lol. I kinda wanna keep it a secret coz the wife is not aware of all my cars. If I do the update, she will know. And that's not good for my health.
"not good for your health". Ha. Regular people don't understand car enthusiasts, let alone wives!
@@Jason-fp7vi lol. You got it.
I just got a 2007 g35 journey it’s always ran on regular what happens if I put premium in it?
Nothing
What's the point in using regular gas if you said it's results in lower mpg and hp? It just defeat the purpose and waste of money
good argument.
@Jake Brown it's cheaper yet it results in lower mpg and hp.. So it's just cheaper at the pump not when you actually driving... 🤦🏾♂️.. So at the end of the day you are not saving any money. If you can't afford a luxury car don't buy it.
If the car is gonna be losing power, and holding back, don't make sense, give the car what it needs to run perfectly........that cheap shit don't always work out

Thank you. You can use regular gas but highly recommended for premium.
@@AintLikeNobody where he will get 95 or 98 on pump in North America?
@@AintLikeNobody that's completely overkill when it says 91 In the owners manual. No it takes only premium the Vq35de is special type of compensation Motor and needs a higher compression gasoline to get the optimal power you can run 87 but I recommend if you do put a octane booster in it or if you wanna go the right way just use 91
I have a 2012 g37 and it (requires 91 octane ) but I put regular 87 gas and the check engine light came up it was catalytic converter
Hmm. Putting 87 has nothing to do with the CEL. Your cat was on the way out.
So putting 87 won’t affect the car because honestly I rather put 87 but thank you!
@@dlowkbrazzy4781 I would put 91 man, if it’s required

In my country, we have only 91 and 95 so when people read the manual and it recommends premium gas, people use 95. I've seen people here say they use 91, so my question can I use 91 on 2008 infiniti? Because you know, it's considered regular gas in my country.
What is your country.
@@runningrich I'm from Oman. We actually have 98 as well at certain places and it's ridiculously expensive, only people with alot of money to burn use it. It's 4.17 dollars per gallon.
You guys have a different scale of measuring octane number. Our 91 is like your 95. Our 93 is your 98.

Yes. I am desperate.
You can live off spam but it's not gonna be as beneficial as steak, same goes here. You are paying for a premium car so take care of it the way the manufacturer suggests for longest millage and best MPG it's just common sense. If you wanna be cheap get a cheap car.
Right , lol
How much money do you spend on gas ?
500-600 per month.
@@runningrich damn that’s horrible 🤣 thank you ain’t buying that car

Hahaha. Funny. Here responded.
93 give you more horsepower 87 don’t
Sure. If performance is your game, 93 or higher is the way to go.
Premium cars need Premium gas. If you want to cheap out, get a Nissan Sentra. I love people who want an expensive car but are too cheap to put in the right gas.
I used regular and it didn't go well at all
what was the issue?
@@runningrich the engine started knocking...I put octane booster and it smoothed out
Interesting.
The owners manual for all cars should settle this: If regular gas (87 octane, USA) is recommended, use that. If premium is recommended for better performance---you can still use regular gas without damaging the engine, but performance and fuel economy will not be as good as with premium fuel. If premium fuel is REQUIRED, then you must use premium or it CAN damage the engine if you use regular continuously. Period. The end. The manufacturer knows more than internet dildos.
my parents have been using 89 in their g37 its been about 3 full tanks do you think they will be fine and if they will experience any permanent damage
@@vCrazyi Have them check the owners manual to confirm octane. Three tankfulls is not going to damage the engine. There are computer controls that adjust for the lower octane. And depending on the model year/country where the car is exported to, it might say "Premium" or it might give an octane rating. If the octane rating is 91 for example, if they add 93 to half a tank of 89, they achieve the rating of 91. For cars like the VW GTI, it says "91 Octane" which isn't normally offered in most parts of the USA. So people just use 93 instead, premium. In the case of your parents car, they probably should use 93 but I suppose at times, they can top off with 89 and that will still be high enough octane for the engine. But to answer your original question, using regular once in a while isn't going to kill the car----it's people who use it for thousands of miles, or tens of thousands of miles, who end up with performance issues. One thing to keep in mind is that if an engine is designed for premium, the performance and fuel economy suffers if you are using 87. So for people who hate to spend the extra on premium, they can at least feel good that they are getting a few more miles per tank using the more expensive gas. And at least your parents were using mid grade. Their car is fine.
USA TODAY 7/30/2003
“All Porsche engines are designed for premium, too, but it's not available everywhere. "Our cars must be able to drive all over the world, and so we are able to run on regular," says Jakob Neusser, director of powertrain development at Porsche's research and development center in Weissach, Germany. "You don't have to feel that a mechanical problem or anything else will happen" using regular gas, even in the highest-performance, regular-production Porsches.”
I rest my case in favor of “internet dildos”.
@@davidsparling3505 Right. The question was about Infiniti though, not Porsche. And my answer is the accurate one----for people to refer to their owner's manual for recommendations and/or requirements. But yes, the 20 year old article from USA Today might very well be accurate for 20 year old Porsche's here in 2023.
