- Whats up guys in this one we are doing a little vlog style video with the head mount. Decided to answer a question that I get all the time in person and online and that is, Do I really need to use premium gas in my vq powered car???

I grab a couple of mcdoubles instead of a big mac.
I buy generic contact solution.
If I need medication, i go with generic when possible.
Toilet paper might as well be made of recycled cup holders from fast food joints.
ALWAYS fill up my g with 91 at least.
First sentence the realest line a youngin did ever read.
Dope 👏
Did anyone notice how perfect that cut was at 0:19
I didn't notice until you mentioned it. Wow!
BRUHHH I DID BUT DIDNT 😂 I
love this camera angle i actually watched the whole video this time lol
Love the way the wheels look man, sick. Also want to try making one of those diffusers myself. That was a great little DIY.
207k almost always ran 87 to 91 while using my car as a daily driver. We even have 88 at some places in north Texas so that's my preferred. That's plenty. Unless you need an extra 10th or two in a quarter, you're fine. It will not damage anything, just might lose a handful of HP. Maybe, if it's hot out. I do love the extra low end grunt that 90+ gives it though. That's pretty noticeable. I also feel like it gets about 1-2 mpg better with 90+, never actually verified that.
usually run shell 92 on my 06 se-r.
used cheap gas when i was broke. only use premium now for the same reason u said I push my car alot
Just got a 03 G35 6MT in Toronto! Is costco 91 okay? And is it worse than other 91s?
I have a 04g35x. When I open the door for gas it says premium fuel recommended. The prev owner had only 87 oct fuel regular but had full synthetic every 3k miles. I took after him since the car was in fantastic shape for 142k miles. ( not as good now since fucks can't park right in parking lot or jealous kids wanna key the bumper ) anyways, I tried premium for once and noticed xceleration had little bit more pick up and go off red lights.
I have 03 g35 sedan. What exact gas should I use ?
like the pov cam but I'm not used to stuff without a stabilizer lol
I own a 50k mile g35 6spd sedan, used 87 octane for about a year and got ping. switched to 93 with no ethanol, and the ping goes away. USE 93 NEVER USE ANYTHING ELSE.
I use 91, and sometimes I add an ounce or two of lucas fuel. Seems to run ok, how do you know if you get ping? Oh btw I have an HR G35, so I think it's even higher compression.
nighthawk0077 you’ll be able to hear it
Seth Mattern how does ping sound
@@just_a5.7 ping ping ping
Jets Set Nun less lol like metal rattle
I have a 06 G35 Sedan and I absolutely can feel the difference in the performance and throttle response I can press it and gun it and it will bite down more then regular unleaded, when I first got it I wasn’t putting premium because I didn’t even know lmao didn’t even think about it for 3 months lmao and I heard all kind of weird noises when throttling and a weak response to flooring it! Jus some personal data for u guys the more octane the better for the vqs (;
What about 100 octane?
first yes it's been tuned to be a Performance Engine at a higher octane you also have O2 sensors and knock sensors that will trigger if you do not have that amount of fuel-air mixture
I would say if you are going to run your car hard use 91. I have a 03 G35 and commute 120 miles a day using 87. I would recommend Accelerating slowly to avoid ping using 87.
great vid man .. as usual
gotta love TO traffic ... and its oh so courteous drivers
Great videos, I just subscribed. Can't wait to see the trunk finished!
How many KMs do you get on a full tank on 91? I usually average about 420-450 KMs depending on the highway traveling, which I find is kinda disappointing lol.
Keep up the good work!
J Casey thanks man. yea mine is about the same. closer to 500 if I'm babying it
I like the new POV man do more videos like this!
Vehqzi it is awful
This might sound ignorant to some, but I run premium because the manufacturer says so. My mom had an Acura and she used to put regular gas in it and it messed it up.
Got an 03 sedan and says and can use 87 but 91 for Performance
Got a altima se-r, ran premium since 43k miles and its sitting at 148k miles. No lie, I was on a road trip and had to put gas and they only had 89. I put it and then later on I was wondering why it was feeling a bit sluggish. Then I remembered about the gas.
I only us 93 in my 2015 3.7 Q50. Been using 93 in my supercharged jetski since new in 2004 still runs great.
i have a 2003 QX4 with VQ35DE and i can assure you it definitely needs premium, in fact mine ONLY seems to like Chevron and Shell maybe 76 too, i calculated the MPG and its way better so it practically cancels out...so why not. Will miss this car when it goes
my 08 maxima don't like anything under 91 octane
Picking up a 2003 g35 4 door 106,000 miles tomorrow !!! and dude I’m buying it from been using regular... i just fill up with premium from now on and I’ll be good is what ur saying
So is using 89 good that’s unleaded +
I am actually picking up a 2003 G37 today with 217k. Can’t wait
idk if it's placebo. but i ran 87 for a week and the car felt boggy and laggy
I think mid grade + a trusted octane booster is better than inning 91. Probably more expensive though. Unless you just throw a cheap bottle of rubbing alcohol in with every tank. Some say that works well, others say don’t do it.
You don't have to use 91 octane in your G35 but if you use lower octane gasoline you won't get the full power available on tap. If you run lower octane gasoline the computer will adjust to the octane. They do get a little better mpg with the 91 octane than they do on regular. If you want to cheap out on gasoline do it in the winter when the air is colder and denser.
You need to use 93 octane if plan on keeping your car
I used 91 ocatane no in g37 2013 and is was like a diesel car. Very lazy and making strange cofee machine sounds. I noticed that the car is not bahivong normal.i switched back to 95.
premium fuel will combust only when the piston is at top dead center otherwise you have pre-detonation which will damage because of the lower grade of fuel, it also does depend on how much compression ratio the motor is built to
Carry a small container of octane boost
Waste of money.. buy premium gas and be happy
I bought my 05 g35 coupe and they used 87 and it was struggling so bad and the sparkplugs were horrible I changed them it got better but when I drained the 87 and added 93 and some additives and now it's running great no smoke not burning oil and the check engine light for running lean or rich cant remember but it went away I think the 87 was the cause of that
And it has the vq30dd uses the same milage as tge vq25dd
Yes it makes a big difference
Super charging my gen 1 G awd sedan everyone does the coupe but awd sedan is pretty dope and still one of the best bodies if you get the premium one like mine! Its awsome love it never gonna give it up getting a new built motor now
My 350z idles poorly when i dont use premium.
My 04 max SE demands it... great mpg and quick acceleration 💪🏾💪🏾
Mine did... too and it needed premium 100%.... but it ran flawless with great acceleration and fuel economy
I'm from new Zealand I have the 350GT DE variant we have 91, 95 and 100 at the pump. Goes fine on 91 , wakes up a bit on 95 and 100 it just loves to rev. Very noticeably more responsive. I tend to run 95 100 is more expensive
Wow that's crazy 100🤔
@@kingaza7734 aviation or plane fuel hehe
Definitely runs different went using 87 less power.
93 is stupidly expensive now everywhere so 89 works good for me. 87 doesn't run well in these engines though especially in the heat of the summer
I ran mid (89) in my 05 6mt sedan and i run 92 in my 09 g37 6mt sedan
Only first gen automatics (03-06 sedans and 03-07 coupes)
can run on regular gas. Premium gas is recommended only. Use premium gas if you're an aggressive driver.
ATSE SHADE 07 coupe can't has HR engine
i personally use 87 on my 04 g35 coupe
ATSE SHADE PREMIUM FUEL FOR THE MAXIMA 04 and up... my 04 max demands it and it's paid off so no problem your car will thank you if it's recommended 👍🏾💪🏾💪🏾
@@mrgeorgeleach7498 bro 04 maxima is a $1500 fwd car.. also it runs fine with full power and no noticible diffrance on 87. I had the same gay car :D
@@mrgeorgeleach7498 no one buying a 20 year old maxima is buying premium lol
My v35 skyline us wzy niser inside you dobt even get the pop up screen
It says to use 91 by the manufacturer
okay what if is automatic ? does it matter and is it save to switch on off at times?
I used to run regular in my gold Altima all the time. It was a beater though. Only run premium in my G
Last time i did a pull in the rain i smacked a tree 😂 but i didn't stress it. I forsure missed her but bought another 1.. never stress a vehicle they come and go like everybody else in life.
Yeah I personally think it's a pretty dumb question. Sure you can run lower then the recommended fuel octane if you want your engine to have to adjust it's timing based on the knock you are causing. Better change out that ghost CEL knock sensor. Also if your car is not recommended premium then you putting premium in is doing nothing for you. Just open the manual.
What up! Love your videos but the new camera angle makes me queasy. And I have a loaded 04 6MT (which I drive hard) and only run regular fuel. Might be down a few HP vs premium fuel but don't feel it makes any real difference and haven't had any issues related to chinsing out on the high octane stuff. Closing in on 250k and unlikely to change but thanks for the insight.
Jimmy Newtron Orginal everything?!
Integrafreak1 Pretty much. Other than wear items like brakes, tires and sone suspension stuff, it's all original. Been a great car and still runs awesome! I'm even still on first clutch -- which is ridiculous.
Jimmy Newtron wow impressive
Thanks! And it's not like a baby this thing. It gets driven hard and put away wet often. The car loves to be driven and I aim to please 😉
i can say i put in cheap sh1t and my car was not running that gr8 then i put premium in and iv never had problems it also says in Japanese on fuel flap that you use premium only and also got manual but its in Japanese
I own a g37 2010 only used 87 only I never had any problems 2years strong put over 20th miles no noise what so ever and my car is on 13 hours out the day like I always say to each its own
*TC OFF* YES. Your a true infinity owner. ^_^ I30 T. Love it. Japanese engineering with germany.= 25 yr banned cars in usa. But hey canada is only 15 yrs. Struggle is real. ^_^ nice video. Bro
can an 03 350z run 87 regularly? just for normal daily driving
GCX 717 once in a while
Above 4krpm you are asking for potential trouble
to sum it up lol yes u can g35s need premuim gas but in the manuel it says it is ok to mix reg with prem if u need to just dont race drive slow thats the manuel i have a 08 btw soooooo
oh shit your in t.o aswell? Ive only ever ran 87 in my 13 maxima and have had no issues, its sitting at 212xxx kms.
All the cars that I touch get 93, whether it be my own, rental or my buddies 1987 Toyota Tercel that I took to the bodega. Gives me peace of mind bc I own 4 performance cars.
I only use 93 I have Jag S Type R & 05 G35X 93 has been all I've ever used just sucks gas prices are going up so much
I have a G37 and it's never had the cheap stuff put in it. Where I live in Texas we have 93 which is all I use from Sunoco. I did use 87 in my Benz for a few month's as an experiment it jacked up 4 o2 sensor's.. Costly mistake so if it states use premium use it unless you can afford the repair's for being cheap
What is the best oil for a 2009 Infiniti G37x
infinitig37x full synthetic
Castrol Magnetic 5W30
I have an 2006 g35x and it stared to shut down on me while driving what to do to fix it ? All lights come up and it stop in the middle of traffic
guy lashsks check the battery it's loose
Voltage regulator In your alternator?
guy lashsks cam shaft positioning sensor maybe?
Does cheap gas prices matters? (even if your putting in premium) ex: a little gas station vs Shell or BP
Rell Vargas shouldn't. Some companies offer cleaning things or what ever in the most expensive gas but little gas stations get their has from contractors.
Nope. A buddy of mine delivers fuel to stations from a central filler and he says they all get gas delivered from the same local filler companies. So they all have the same gas from the same place. Only think that matters is grade/octane rating.
Well the biggest difference is ethanol. Petro Canada, and esso use ethanol in all their grades. Shell 91 is ethanol free. I fill up at Canadian Tire most of the time. Cheap price, plus as far as everything I've read they actually buy gas from shell... Good. Luck!
Rally Rell I use WALMART premium gas all gas is the same some use more additives than others which clog up your cataleptic convert or as I was told by several mechanics don't use QT or Sphinx gas!!!!
As long as its premium
Supposedly it's the catalytic converters that don't like cheap gas. The ceramic break's down and the dust gets in the motor basically sanding down the cylinder walls leading to the horrible oil consumption famous in g's
So if you don't run cats you should be fine then huh?
She needs premium dude! Preeeemiiiummmm
My late 99 Maxima SE throws fits if I feed it anything other than 97. I'm sure this 06 6mt g35 sedan I'ma bout to acuire is the same.
I don't understand why anyone would spend $40k new on a car and put 87 in it. Makes no sense. It's like living in the projects and driving an S Class Benz. Then the same people will say they hate a good car because it ran like shit for them, when it was just them not changing oil and putting in proper gas.
I Always Use 93 Premium Petro In My M35S
I run 89 in my 2002 Maxima and don't have any issues. Then again, I will only go 5000rpm at max and don't abuse the hell out of it.
Jared M 02 max gang
my 02 max run fine on 89 but i switched to 93 and noticed improved throttle response and and pick up. Am never going back to 89.
Jared M SMH get ur 91 fuel bro..it's not that expensive I live in CA and it's worth having 91 in the max to avoid the detonation..and Maxima performance stated on the fuel door of ur max.
Haha don't worry, I'm running 93 now.
The fuel doors on 5th gens RECOMMEND premium, while 6th gens REQUIRE it. But I have made the switch lol
Jared M good job👍
I always use 91
Well said nice vid bro, only run 93 in mine 👍
I use 94 Sunoco in my Nissan Murano 2007 great $$$$$$$
Interesting point : more energy in 93 Ron. Think about it. It's a space saver, you can fit more energy into your 14 gallon gas tank. Although costs have gotten higher on premium fuel....eek....the original value for money has gone, I have noticed premium is like diesel now, way too pricey and diesel is a junk fuel, it's very low in the fractionation column at the refinery but cost TWICE as much as premium gas. Total con. We are being conned. It should be 50c a gallon period.
If ya invest in a G why would you be a cheapo and put low grade fuel .
I only put Sunoco ultra 93 in my G37 .
Never had an issue.
Facts
The key mistake in this video is that a VQ35 in a nissan quest and a vq35 in a G or Z is they are not the same engine. The engine designation may be the same but the internals and compression are not the same, not to mention the factory tune does not account for lower octane.
do you have any idea why my car smell like a egg every time that I go fast
carlos tezen it's the sulphur content in the fuel burning through your cats that give it that smell. Usually happens when you're WOT.
Stack Bundlez wot?
carlos tezen wide open throttle
cats starting to go bad..u get rotten egg smell...soon u will throw a code for low flow cats
I really want a g35 but gas is extremely expensive where I live in Alberta
Elliott Carson I feel your pain. That’s stopping me from pulling the trigger, but I have no idea what a *reliable* alternative is because I wouldn’t get a BMW here either.
Elliott Carson Canada baby yeaaaaaaa go Canada
I have a 2004 G35x sedan with almost 230,000 miles on it and I have NEVER put ANYTHING but cheap low grade Arco fuel in it. Rarely change the oil, maybe every 5,000 miles. I can run down the highway at 120 mph any day of the week with no problem. 1 month ago to it to Valvoline and had there fuel system clean done on it. They said the injectors were clean and looking good. Just sharing MY experience and of course you are free to waste money if you want but I'll put mine up against any other STOCK G35 in the same class any time they wanna step up. Buddy has an 05 g35 coupe and i dust him anywhere theres a corner. Get an all wheel drive model, the handling is incredible. So 87 all thye way for me. Good luck, pull the trigger, you won't regret it. Peace
@@dongilbert584 That's incredible, Yea if you drive the car hard it cleans all the carbon buildup. Do you still have the car?
Yes POV!
I only use 93 my dudes. 2010 Maxima
Keith Kordzzz 2 smart guy👍🏾
Do you really think mommies are putting premium in their quest vans? I'll put premium for a track day. That's it. On the street, 87 always. Even if it does detonate, (which it won't) the ecu will immediately pull timing.
It doesn't pull enough timing to compensate fully. This has been established YEARS ago
It doesn't pull timing for hard revs off and on
Link up one day bro I got a 06 Nissan Maxima 6mt me and my boy in his HR can go for a cruise one night if your down KITCHENER BOUND
VQ Engines Rock.....
IDK how you just gun it every time you merge on the highway, I have a 04 G35 and I did it once and my fan broke into pieces and destroyed the fan clutch and the radiator 😂😂😂. Too scared to do it again
ALXIII tell me about it, i gunned it once and my clutch fell apart 😂🤦♂️
ALXIII Yeah whoever had your G first must have fucked it. I gun it every time I do anything in my G and well.. it just hauls ass. lol
ALXIII d
ALXIII LMAO GET A 5.5 MAX I HAVE NO PROBLEMS STEPPING ON IT FOR THE FREEWAY ONLY ISSUE IS TIRE SQUEALING HAHA.
Fuck I love my g35 coupe. I can't imagine putting anything below 91.
I put plus 89 I'm in nj I got a g35 2005
Yooo i live on that road thats in Toronto let me buy your g35
Okay
my g35 only runs reg its got 260000 on it now never a problem and I drive it like I own it lol
Amen bro. O4 g35x sedan with 230,000 only reg here and I drive it hard also
Don't forget the M35X
weston and 401? lol
03 G35 run 93
Don't know why ppl will cheap out when it comes to getting gas? If a vehicle states that premium is recommended I will put premium in it. Besides the little amount you'll save, will end up being spent in repairs in the future. You're likely to get even better gas mileage with premium as long as you don't have a lead foot. Considering how much gas was just a few yrs ago. Hell just last yr regular was around $2.50 a gallon where I'm from in Texas. It's a little higher in the city as I live in Dallas. But I usually get gas at the Walmart gas station(this one isn't a Murphy). They have the best prices in the whole city. Their premium is always guaranteed to be the cheapest in town. Most places in the city are $2.60 a gallon for premium. Just the other day I filled up on 93 it was $2.09. They give you an automatic 3 cents off per gallon as well. I've had no issues with their gas.
And now it’s 4.40
dude, you're my spirit animal lol
91 octane is fine. It doesn't ping, knock or run like shit on it.
i rarely put super in my max never heard ping but the throttle response suffers
That means it NEEDS premium... it has a high compression engine!!!
I lent my car to a "friend" who was "kind enough" to fill it up with Regular... the car ran like a dog for the next three fillups. These cars punish the use of low grade fuel.
Ellipsis of Triple Tap
he probably didn't know though
Ellipsis of Triple Tap yep gotta use premium in the vq nissans my 04 max demands it
@@mrgeorgeleach7498 You don't HAVE TO, but I noted the performance hit and never use anything less than 91 octane. I guess it's nice that one can use regular on a budget but I love my G too much to do that :)
Ellipsis of Triple Tap YOU NEED TO..... UNLESS YOURE INTO ENGINE FAILURE IN THE FUTURE I MAKE WISE DECISIONS BECAUSE IM NOT INTO BUYING NEW CARS OR ENGINES COMMON SENSE ALWAYS PREVAILS MY O4 MAX MAXES OUT ON PREMIUM AND MPG IS GREAT EVEN BEIN A V6..ESPECIALLY AROUND TOWN💪🏾
@@mrgeorgeleach7498 You don't have to "yell" - I've owned my Fully loaded G35 coupe for over 14 years and ONLY the time I mentioned was it ran on 87-89 octane.
That said, the ECU will retard the timing on lower octane but it will not damage the engine. Not sure if you understand engines...
The Honda has no power Imo we don't need vtech for our VQ motors.
Don't like the camera angle, to much movement.
I only put 95 in my fuga
This is a no brainer- these cars were engineered for premium. Want them to last? Use the good stuff.
I just do what they recommend
we have 98 octane in sweden :)
Ida Öberg wonder how it runs with 98 🤔
Very nice! Must be a turbo haven!
That's because Sweden uses RON fuel index where as the US uses the average of RON+MON, meaning your 98 is probably equivalent to a 93 in the US.
It's a different scale there
Ida Öberg 98 Ron = 94 octane
Bro... only premium.
Dont run anything under 91 octane
