Preparation
Before performing Idle Air Volume Learning, make sure that all of the following conditions are satisfied. Learning will be cancelled if any of the following conditions are missed for even a moment.
Battery voltage: More than 12.9V (At idle)
Engine coolant temperature: 70 - 100 C (158 - 212 F)
Park/neutral position (PNP) switch: ON (Shifter in Park or Neutral)
Electric load switch: OFF (Air conditioner, headlamp, rear window defogger)
Steering wheel: Neutral (Straight-ahead position)
Vehicle speed: Stopped
Transmission: Warmed-up (Drive vehicle for 10 minutes.)
Operations Procedures
1. Confirm that accelerator pedal is fully released, turn ignition switch “ON” and wait 3 seconds.
2. Repeat the following steps (2a and 2b) procedures quickly five times within 5 seconds.
2a. Fully depress the accelerator pedal (HARD).
2b. Fully release the accelerator pedal.
3. Wait 7 seconds, fully depress the accelerator pedal and keep it for approx. 10 seconds until the CEL starts blinking.
4. Fully release the accelerator pedal (while the CEL is still blinking)
5. Wait about 10 second.
6. Fully depress the accelerator pedal and keep it for more than 10 seconds.
7. Fully release the accelerator pedal (The CEL light will continue to blink).
8. Turn ignition switch to “OFF” position and now you can start the car. The CEL light should be gone.
If the CEL light continues to remain ON, repeat the above steps. Timing is EXTREMELY critical to resetting the ECU.
Accelerator Pedal Release Position Learning
Operation Procedure
1. Make sure that the accelerator pedal is fully released.
2. Turn ignition switch “ON” and wait at least 2 seconds.
3. Turn ignition switch “OFF” wait at least 10 seconds.
4. Turn ignition switch “ON” and wait at least 2 seconds.
5. Turn ignition switch “OFF” wait at least 10 seconds.
Throttle Valve Closed Position Learning
Operation Procedures
1. Make sure that accelerator pedal is fully released.
2. Turn ignition switch to “ON”.
3. Turn ignition switch to “OFF” wait at least 10 seconds.
Make sure that the throttle valve moves during above 10 seconds by confirming the operating sound.
Idle Air Volume Learning (Throttle Position Learning)
It is better to count the time accurately with a clock.
1. Perform “Accelerator Pedal Released Position Learning”.
2. Perform “Throttle Valve Closed Position Learning”.
3. Start engine and warm it up to normal operating temperature.
4. Turn ignition switch “OFF” and wait at least 10 seconds.
5. Confirm that the accelerator pedal is fully released, then turn ignition switch “ON” and wait 3 seconds.
6. Repeat the following (steps 7a, 7b) procedures quickly five times within 5 seconds.
7a. Fully depress the accelerator pedal (HARD)
7b. Fully release the accelerator pedal.
8. Wait 7 seconds, fully depress the accelerator pedal and keep it for approx. 20 seconds until the Check Engine Light (CEL) stops blinking and turned ON.
9. Fully release the accelerator pedal within 3 seconds after the CEL is ON.
10. Start engine and let it idle.
11. Wait 20 seconds.
12. Rev up the engine two or three times and make sure the idle speed and ignition timing are within the specifications.

Nissan Electronic Throttle Body (ETB) Re-Learn Procedure - Auta a dopravní prostředky
Don't even need a stopwatch. You provide one! Haha. I followed everything you did in real time and it worked flawlessly. Thank you!
Will this work on a 2012g37 xs??? It's push to start
Thanks for the big help lol
@@MrStonedstickup it should
@@destinyachieved4599 worked flawlessly. I was nervous bc I was reading other people's comments that had issues afterwards. Usually that's me. Or it just doesn't work like the videos do. Always a trip to the parts store or something lol. I'my case this time tho. Perfect. Great video. Got my follow a long time ago. Videos are great !
Right he's freaking bad to the bone!! Some heroes don't wear capes
Timing is the most critical step in the relearn process, and your tutorial was on point. I have successfully completed my electronic throttle relearn.
Wow man, this really helped a lot. I recently finished fixing up my 2006 g35 coupe and realized that it the idle was being very weird. It jumped from 600 rpm’s to 1000 back down to 600, and made the car annoying at times. I found this video without realizing I had to relearn the idle, since I did remove the throttle body to replace valve covers. This video helped a lot and I just finished the relearn.
Yooo I had really underestimated how precise it needed to be, thanks for the detailed explanation. Glad to see helpful channels out there, keep up man!!
You have no idea how helpful this video was!!! I tried about 3 of the other ones and they didn't work for me. This one worked and the process was easier too.
Thank you for making this process much more interactive! you made it easy. Thanks for taking time! This would be my 3rd time resetting it and you simplified it. Blessings
Why did you have to reset 3 times?
Out of all the videos, I watched this was the easiest one to understand and follow.
You made it so easy to do the re-learn appreciate that. M35 is back to normal🙏🏾
Sir you are a brother in arms. I did this to both my Z's - '12 sport tour, '16 nismo. They run noticeably smoother now, and actually identical to a brand new '20 base model one of my buddies just got. That gives me all sorts of peace of mind
After cleaning the throttle body on my 2005 Nissan Frontier V6 4.0l my idle went out of whack. The relearn worked the first time I tried it. I did it right beside your video and I didn't even have to look at my check engine light blinking. Timing is everything. Thanks!
Hey motordyne..... First of all I want to thank you for all your dedication you have given into all your various video that have been released! I (we, the viewer's ) have gained a plethora of knowledge from your research! I recently bought a 06 g36 sedan this last summer. I started out installing a 5/16 plenum spacer (yes, reviewed you insight on this) and never thought twice of resetting the idle air circuit...so this whole time ive lived with a higher idle approx. 950-1000 rpm's.and 2k+ cold starts! I excused this problem believing it was the intake that i installed at the same time and was in need of a tune.. when i came across the video i was interested in the idea that i may benefit form this. So tonight after work, i followed the instruction you clearly laid out and....... snap! my idle is right on the money. no more brake lag (harder to stop a vehicle with partial throttle plate opened all the time) and no more exceeding high idle start-up. We appreciate the material you deliever.. keep up the good work!!
Boooy u're a star .. I had a high rpm on idle & the check engine light was on. So I followed ur procedure & it worked .. It went back to normal & the check engine light disappeared .. Thank God & thank u .. Definitely thumbs up 👍
Thank you for the video. I had been fighting to do this from various descriptions, but seeing it made it all much clearer.
Just bought my 06 Infiniti G35 and had a high idle. After tune-up, oil change, air filter, intake hose and boot. I watched your video and voila!! I'm at spec. Really appreciate the tutorial. Please keep making videos that's very informative. Thanks for everything.
Thank you for your video!!! We have a 2007 Nissan Altima 2.5L. It was having an erratic idle. So we tried your steps and it WORKED!! after doing the steps 4 different times. On the 4th try it WORKED!!! So my son and I thank you!!!!
Before this vid I was only able to successfully do this maybe once out of 10 times. Now with this vid, I've been able to do it two times in a row, very nice thanks to the poster for making this 👍
4 years later still helping people out! Thank you bro I just bought an 05 g35x had a few issues but all was fixed except the idle, this vid did the trick, thanks again im subbed.
Hey Thank you so much for showing me how to adjust the idle on my 04 g35 I would of never figured it out
I had to take the time to thank you for posting this video. I kept following the instructions that you showed on that page and that everybody else has and it wasn't working for me. I did the shortcut procedure you did and my engine is back to spec. Thanks again!
After cleaning my throttlebody and disconnecting harness my idle went upto 825 rpm. I did this idle relearn procedure on my infiniti i35 and it worked. My high idle has gone and back to normal. Thank you very much.
Thanks!!!! The only version that really works, you save me, I bought many car parts to solve it and it was only a simple relearn
Uooo awesome Thank you!!! It worked
Worked perfectly on my 08 infinity g37s with push to start. After deep cleaning both throttle bodies and switching over to cold air nismo intakes the idle was flunctuatuing a lot. Timming is everything flollowes the steps and worked beautifully thanks alot great video.
I tried a couple of other vids on this procedure, and yours is the only one that gave me positive results, wow!
Thanks bro!
I sometimes get very rough/jumpy gear changes in automatic (G37X)
The car has no get up, limited power etc. Have to use manual mode to get it somewhere to park, where I inevitably find a high idle, and sometimes an engine warning light.
This usually only happens in extremely wet or snowy conditions, maybe once every few months or so.
This video, the idle relearn completely fixes and solves the issue everytime. Thanks!
You saved me right at 200 dollars!!!I had replaced my throttle body with a new one. My car has 375k miles.. I was just gonna give up on it. But your video will be the reason I won't give up on my Altima.. Thank You!!😇😇😇
Does your car have 375K miles or kilometres?
I wrote down what you did and followed that instead of that paper. You explained it better. Thank you!! :)
5/4/22 ....and here i'am again, visiting the archives of Motordyne G35 ✊️ just performed the idle relearn, and it went perfect the first time. I just followed you real time on the video. I replaced Bank 2 Sensor 1 (O2) today, and cleaned throttle body, MAF, filter, oil, etc...sooo, did the idle relearn. Once again, THANK YOU for doing all these vids. My 06' Coupe just cleared 50k, and she running like a champ!!!
This worked perfectly for my 2007 Nissan Murano V6 3.5 L I watched a few other videos that didn't describe it the way you did the stopwatch worked perfectly because I was able to do it exactly along with your stopwatch while you were doing it. Thanks for the video helped me tremendously
Thank you! Great vid and helped me reset the idle in a 2004 Infinity G35
This video was perfect! I installed Z1 intake couplers on my 05 G35 sedan, and figured I'd clean the throttle body while I was there. Got the P0507 within about 2 minutes of driving. I queued this video as I did the re-learn. Idle is now around 675-725. no more 1100 rpm idle! Thanks!!!
@Motordyne G35 ...Thank you so much for this helpful video! I bought a new throttle body for my Nissan Altima. One repair shop said they would not install it, another shop installed it but did not know they needed to do a relearn procedure (neither did I, at the time).
After looking at a few videos and trying the relearn procedure a few dozen times (unsuccessfully) I found your video and did it the way you said to do it and IT WORKS!!! Thank you for sharing!
Thank you so much! My G35 was idling rough/throwing the P0507 code and seeming to be getting worse...enough to where I was putting it in neutral at red lights and stop signs because I felt like it was wanting to stall out. Found this video and 100% fixed the problem. Just followed along with you and done. Saved me a mechanics bill. ❤️
Great video best on CZcams for the Nissan relearn
Worked on my 08 G35. Thanks!
Is yours push start? If so how did you do it?
How?
I tried this method on my FX35 and it worked like magic. Thank you very very much for making this video!!!!
This worked great! Just installed nwp throttle body and the other relearned were working a day or to. This relearn is awesome!
WHOS HERE IN 2020 HELL YEAH BROTHER BACK IN BUZINESS GOT MY G35 RUNNING RIGHT GOD BLESS YOU!!!!!!
what were your issues mine kept wanting to die then isles at 500 i did the relearn twice but i was in a rush and it seemed to make it slightly worse but i’m going to try again
I did it ab 4 times just now and it worked finally
that stop the jerking on my 05 max dud thanks..!
Just replaced a crankshaft and tranny, and couldn’t figure out why the car was rough idling. Remembered your procedure, and she’s fixed! Thank the Lord, she’s fixed!!!
I downloaded this very document from another source after cleaning the throttle body on my 350Z. It now idles just like the day I bough it. Great guide!
Your bad ass man... keep uploading vids bro
I had to go through 5 videos to find yours, thanks so much !! Like👍👍👍
Watched like 2 min into the video first try . Didn’t even have to use my stopwatch or nothing just followed first what you said the first time and boom my car is idling perfect . Thank you for your videos and your organization and the time you put into this . Need more people like you . Thanks again
I tried everything but take it to the dealer and that's something I don't want to do after watching this video it really gave me instant results thank you so much and I know I speak for a lot of people when I say thank you thank you thank you!!!!!!
Brother I think the almighty parted the clouds from his throne look down on me and said you know what I mean to send this man and his video your way to help you with this extremely difficult Nissan thanks a whole bunch brother I really appreciate it thank you
James Burns ridiculous comment
Ive had a rough idle for almost a year now and i never could fix it. Thank you man!
Yeah the instructions can be confusing to do all timed up exactly right, the stop watch approach I show makes it much easier. Thanks for letting me know it helped you!
I dont have a check engine light in my g35 from 04, help?
What is the issue? Rough idle? Did you get the check engine light to blink and then to turn solid like in this video?
No I mean there is literally no check engine light on the dash of the older g35s, so idk if this idle relearning would work for those years. It only has the service engine soon light in the gauge cluster. When the car idles, sometimes randomly there is like a tiny deep pop and the car shakes a little more when that happens
This works for all G35's. The check engine light in my car says the same thing, service engine soon, is what it actually says word for word when it lights up. Did you try to do this with no luck?
Man, I've tried this like 50x doing it the way others have showed. This worked on the first try!!! Thank you, this was becoming a headache 🙏🏾🙌🏾. Plus this was so much easier and faster than the other methods 👍🏾.
I only have 1 request in return. Make sure you tell that bitch NO. Trust me, she will love you later. It's another trick, but better than the idle relearn.
Thank you! Wish other DIY vid i saw involving removing/cleaning throttle body mentioned that this needs to be done at the end.
Let me give the most valuable advice. Just play this video and follow it exactly in your car. Not need to mess with paper instructions or additional timers.
I got it to work in my first attempt. Was a bit nervous at first worry that I have the procedures mix up. Now the idle is down to 600-650 rpm. Thank you!
just did my FX45, idling was around 1000RPM lots of gas smell from the exhaust, now everything is normal idling around 700RPM no more gas smell
My car is idling at 1000rmp I thought that was normal and I smell gas from the car. Hopefully this will fix the problem.
@@_vislow_7307 did it fix it?
homxr no it didn’t I’m not sure what I did but I’m good now after I got tuned around may
Thank you for this video. I resolved the P0507 code on a 02 Maxima. I'd tried using the procedure in other videos that have you doing the entire throttle position relearn sequence, and not breaking off the actual airflow recalibration as its own sequence. I never got the flashing engine light with other videos because the sequence was so lengthy that I screwed something up. Like others here, I watched your video along while I did the same actions in real time. So easy! And the idle speed dropped noticibly from crazy fast (lurching when I put into drive) to normal subdued, showing around 700 RPM on the tach.
I tried 3 other videos all crap.. THIS is the only one that worked!!! Thanks mate appreciate it!!
Mine blinks till it stays solid when I turn it back on the service engine light stays on still
It may be a code for something else or the new throttle body you have is broken
It's most likely the old code. Just clear all the codes with the OBD2 scanner and it shouldn't come back
I tried this to 2004 altima 2.5s and it work at a first trial. and car is running great wroom wrooom. great video
Tried this on my 06 maxima, I was having low idle issues and it totally fixed the issue, thank you! Didn't even need a stopwatch 😂
Thanks dude pretty clutch quick fix on my 06' g35, pretty sure you've helped me before too. Cheers from Canada brother.
Thank you so much . You really help me a lot I try everything nothing work . I follow you exactly and is work my rpm work good
BLESS YOUR SOUL! It's been one thing after another with my 2018 Q50 .. and seeing the check engine light had me worried ordered an Ob2 scanner did it and one less stress! Thank you
Absolute money 💰!!!! I had run through multiple cycles from other videos and they weren't working, this one fixed it first time. You are the man, and probably saved random people from getting screamed at today.
Dude it worked! Thanks I have a 2006 fx35 that just had some work done and the idle was high. I Followed your instructions as you we’re doing them and it worked! 👍🏽
Used the vid after I worked on my G35 intake. The light blinked like you said. Car still works, thanks.
Thanks for this video, for those that cant get it to work the timing is VERY important. By using a stopwatch I was able to get it right in the first two tries
I bought my 2006 g35 coupe about 2 months ago and it’s been idling at about 800-1000 rpm since I got it and this fixed it instantly.
Thank you , life saver , gas saver lol . Your video worked great . I will save it for when I swap out the throttle. Thanks a million . My o6 SeR is back to normal .
Hi, thanks a lot !!! It worked for me, I have an Almera 1,5 N16. I cleaned my throttle body and then the idle speed was 950 rpm. I tried other ways to make an idle speed learning but nothing really worked, until I found yours. Thanks again my friend.
No need for a stopwatch because of your awesome video, Thank you!!!
Right!!! I just did it, and followed in real time. Worked perfectly on the first run!
thanks so much for this i had a high idle after replacing tb and watched so many videos then saw yours and got it first try!
What make and model do you have ? I have an Infiniti fx35 and had the throttle body replaced and I feel like it doesn’t idle correctly. If I’m at a complete stop and let my foot off the break i roll up to like 30 mph without even touching the gas pedal!
I know this this was made 2 years ago, but I use this procedure at couple times on my '16 q50 3.0t RS...it works. Had p0507 (high idle) a few times after doing throttle body cleaning
Thanks man. I was getting frustrated of why my idle was hunting after I cleaned the throttle body.
Thank you thank you thank you. This was so much easier than the others.
Thank you so much for this video. I feel very blessed to have a special person like you in the community. 💯 This has helped my car very much. My Infiniti feels great after this! 🚗💨
I followed every steps in the procedure. I got lucky the 2nd time of tries Thanks for the very good content. It helps a lot to avoid costs. Haha.
Thanks so much for the easy to follow process. This helped me immensely
Thanks u!!! U just saved me from spending money on Throttle body!!! My car rmp jump up and down from 1500-2500... Now after watching your video and did after u my car turn to normal.
Cass Shu this is happening to me right now, mechanic says needs either throttle bodies or a new ecu. Going to try when I get home from work and try to save myself 800-1000$
Thank you for giving the steps in the description!
Very helpful video
Just did this Idle relearn and the ECU reset to my G35. IT WORKS! 👍 much needed help.
Hello.
2009 Murano here. Did everything, light did blink and then went solid but it didn't go away at the end. Light came on after cleaning throttle body.
EDIT: Tried once more after this and it did work. Light went away. Timing is the key. If you do this than you have to be super precise. Thank you Motordyne for this video!
Finally did it after so many attempts wow. Thank you very much very helpful..
Bro, Thanks I had to go back and look at this again. I had one of the guys at my job to reset my car but he didn't do it right SO I'm doing it my self.
Perfect, Thanks worked well, now my car performing well
Installing the Motordyne MREV2 lower plenum and 5/16 spacer kit on my 2006 brought me here. Got into a series of "might as well while I've got it all apart". Took the throttle body apart and did thorough cleaning. Powder coated the upper plenum. Also installed a new gasket, new bolts and a Moshimoto silicone intake tube. I thought maybe I had a vacuum leak since my Idle rev around 1100. I'm going to try this tomorrow.
Thank you for your very detailed instructions. Helped me out a lot. Great video!
This is the only video I've came across that actually worked. First try too, awesome video bro
🙏🏾 thanks! I cleaned the throttle body the other week and didn’t know this was even a thing!
Ha ir worked to think I almost bought a new throttle body I tried all of them and nothing your way worked thanks man cheers from providence Rhode island 👍
Thanks! Been using the other guys methods and no luck. Used the 15 second method and problem solved. First Time!
Thank you so much! I did it along with you and it worked! It hadn’t worked before!
I tried several methods from shop manuals, the throttle body manufacturer and other CZcamsrs; none of them worked. I was about to give in and go to the dealer for a relearn after changing the throttle body. Saw your video, tried it and the problem is solved. Thank you so much!
I should add that after my Service Engine light started blinking it stopped then went out. I kept the pedal down. After a few seconds it started blinking again and went out. Pedal still held down. Light started blinking again and finally went steady. After a second or two I started the engine. Then I rev’ed it up a couple of times as you suggested. Shortly after, the idle dropped down and settled around 500rpm. Prior to your procedure the idle was around 1100 rpm. Thank you again
My light never went steady
Worked beautifully. 2004 G35x sedan. Thanks!!
Thanks man out of all the videos on CZcams on this topic this is the simplest and only one that work for. It is amazing WOW👍😁
THANK YOU! this is the only video that worked for me. I did this on my 2007 xterra
Appreciate this video! Fixed my issue within 5 minutes 🙌🏾
Hell yeah my idle has been running about 950 just did it and it went to 650 . Was running a little rough. A lot smoother! Thanks!
Thank you for the video. It helped put my Nissan 2004 350z back into normal idle speed. Thumbs up from me 👍
Trying on mine right now, idles low and sometimes will die from going to neutral to second
I love you!!!!! I was stressing so much I was idling at 1200 after installing bigger TB and intake after your help now I’m idling at 650
Homie has been helping me out for years. This video is perfect. Thanks man
Seriously, honest thank you. Did this on 2005 FX35 and there was a little variance in how the engine light blinked, but it worked great.
This has to be the most helpful video on a 350z on the internet ! Perfectly said
Awesome video man. I just followed along with you live which made it really easy.
Just got my 03 G35 in a trade and had a high car idle your video helped thanks
