- I show you how to make beats for free using Akai's MPC Beats Software and my free sample pack! I make a hip-hop sample beat with FIRE plugins all FOR FREE! No MIDI controller needed, no MPC needed, just download and GO! This MPC Beats tutorial also applies to MPC Software (2.8 and up) and will work on both Mac and PC Platforms. This is a 2 part series where will will first make the beat, then we will mix the sample beat in a FREE DAW using FREE plugins to craft the final sound.

Please check the software. The integration between it and the optional hardware components is amazing. It's like Ableton Live and the Push 2. Except this can operate without a computer. Give it a try, if you like the workflow, pick up an MPC. I like to hit on things. Drawing sometimes can be boring.

It's much easier with the MPC hooked up, lol. I'll be doing more on using the software coming from Standalone soon. I still like to use the MPC screen for most of the tasks in controller mode, but mixing with the mouse is much faster!

Thanks for the great feedback! MPC is hardware based as well so there is a bit of a transition when you use the Software without the controller integration, but I'm getting better at it 😅

Thanks bro! Yeah man, it is definitely harder to do most things without the touchscreen interface. Even switching tracks is slow af 😂 There's definitely no excuse anymore though if you have access to a computer 💯💯💯

I started building my studio this year, it's still pretty rough but I got a decent computer.
Didn't matter, though cuz I had TERRIBLE latency issues....
I jumped through all kinds of hoops and finally got it worked out, thought I'd share some of my tricks and f-ups:
- turned off WLAN in my device manager. I don't use wireless, don't need it gobbling resources.
- moved 99% of my data to the D: drive
- took out the 500W power supply and replaced it with an 850W. That cost a couple bucks, but it was worth it just for the experience. Had to re-cable EVERYTHING. Pretty easy though, lucky it fit...
- started out with the stock overclock feature in the BIOS but it was jacking up my CPU temps to well over 100C!
Not cool, but probably my fault for upgrading the power supply, still, the program should have compensated for temperature.IMO.
Turned that off after having numerous crashes, then downloaded the Intel Extreme Tuning Utility. This let me set the voltages and wattages without overheating, you don't want temps over 60C. I kept mine below 40C because of the previous crashes, I want to keep running it for a while at cooler temps because I don't want to have to redo the thermal paste on the CPU, I'll get around to that but later. 3 GHZ should be sufficient.
- after all that, STILL having clicks and pops from the latency. I use a free download by Daniel Terhell called LatencyMon to study my progress with this all as I'm making changes. Userbench shows I peaked at a rating of 108% but I need this latency problem fixed more than I need any other kind of performance. In the end I only have about a 60% rating but I have the low latency I need.
So I'm thinking this has to be it, the big one: Disable the Microsoft GS Wavetable Synthesizer. It's a pos. I found CoolSoft Virtual MidiSynth as a free download, looked through their forum and found a sounds folder, the Soundfont - Crisis General Midi v3.01.
- better, but still not there yet... I looked at some reddits and decided that my biggest problem was MacAfee Security. I downloaded AVG instead, shut McAfee off, (even though I paid for it, I can't afford noise on a computer I bought to make music.)
THAT DID IT! My computer is fast, cool and quiet now. I can play complex multitrack parts with no lag or crashes and it sounds fantastic.
This is everything I wish I had known 4 months ago. If it's not obvious, I would start from the end of these changes that I made and work my way back the other direction. There's no need to spend money to do this right, I probably didn't actually need a new power supply.

That's a LOT to go thru bro. I've never had issues like that, but I dont use McAfee so that's probably why. I sensed that was a no go the first time I installed it 2004. Ate up so many resources it never got turned on again. Skype used to be the same way. I still dont trust it, lol

My next thing to learn in mpc beats will be recording vocals lol I know how to do most of this In the video still its very helpful to see someone else teaching especially the free $0 cost is really a blessing 🔥 for those who don't have much to invest financially basically only cost is your time and effort you put into your music Production career or hobby lol 👍🏽 I have never seen a video with someone using a MPC or MPC beats recording vocals I kinda wonder can it be done lol the manual say its possible lol I just never seen anyone recording vocals inside of any mpc I will give it a try soon lol 🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾
It can definitely be done, but the editing is not as easy as other DAWs since it doesn't have punch-ins.

@@AJWise No, they're not cuz. When it was called Cakewalk, it was under control of Roland. It became Bandlab after TASCAM released them. Last I checked, you can still download Cakewalk. Bandlab is available, but free. But both are simultaneously available. It's like the 1990s Toyota Corolla and the Geo Prizm. They were essentially the same car, but both were available at the time from different manufacturers.

i donwloaded mpc beats 3 weeks ago... i got me a mpc touch the other day and installed the "real" mpc software so i went ahead and uninstalled the mpc beats software.... i jurst reallised mpc beats had a few expansions wich arent in the normal mpc software... i tried to get the email again but they never sended one again lol bt thx for the TAL REVERB i will be trying it
You should be able to copy the files over to the Expansion folder in the Software as well. Just gotta go to your Program Data folders and find them.
first time using mpc beats , how do u load the drum kits into the software?
Turn on the browser on the right side of the screen. Little white icons on the bottom right, look for expansion browser. Or use the file browser to find individual sounds and you can drag them to the pads.

In your video your kits are in the software along with the other kits , I’m trying to get your kits to show up in the daw, all I’m seeing is the stuff that comes with the mpc beats. The sounds are on a hard drive do to space issues,Sry to ask again and thanks for the kits

When you go into sample edit to trim/chop your samples are they ever incredibly loud for you? I know you can use the gain change feature but it seems like no matter what sample I decide to use it is super super loud. I usually start with drums and then decide on a sample to use, but if I forget to use the gain change before playing the sample in the sample editor I blow out my ears. If the sample itself within the editor has a waveform that isn't really big it is still just as loud or equal in volume to the samples with way larger waveforms. I don't have my headphone volume cranked up either so its very odd. Do you know of any solutions if you have encountered this?
So you just highlight then hit the left or right arrow to nudge over the hats to put them off beat?

Strange ,when I press the sequencer option I don't see the tc option next to the BPM clock !!
That's weird. You can also hit the home button and turn TC on/off and adjust settings in the Qlinks section.

what's the different between mpc 2 and mpc beats? one is charge for $200 and another is for free. I know mpc 2 can connect with mpc hardware like mpc one, but is there something else?
The only difference is more tracks. My advice, use Beats, get really good at it, then move into a MPC One when you want to really speed things up and become more efficient because it comes with the full software, is a phenomenal controller for the software, and gives you a standalone option. Beats is capable of doing everything the full software does.

Beats looks just like mpc software. Is there ANY difference?
It's just an entry level version. Only difference is it's limited to 8 midi tracks, and 2 audio tracks.

I downloaded the 2 packs but they dont pop up on my mpc beats sample box.
I had same issue but I learnt to first extract the files because zip files don't pop up.

Asio4all is no longer free there is a subscription of $10 a month.
😂😂😂😂 I highly doubt that. It’s been freeware for over 10 years. ASIO4ALL.org is the website. If you still can’t get it, just use the free ASIO driver that comes with FL Studio demo or Voicemeeter Mixer.
