Just as a side note. In the email from Akai, the photo used to showcase the new stems feature showed a slightly different looking MPC. It was just a small pc, but there were some visual clues that this might just be a new MPC. Hmmm?

Why are only oldies used in the performance videos? So modern songs with multiple tracks don't work? What about songs that use synthesisers?
This goes to a much larger question which is "What type of music is most sampled?" That's a rabbit hole, but in a nutshell "oldies" have a sonic character that is very difficult if not impossible to achieve with modern tools due to the nature of the technology used to create them, and the musical acumen and collaboration level of those times.
The stems tech was originally created for DJs who wanted to remove the vocals from modern mixes for their own purposes. It has recently been extended to music creators and many of us use older recordings to pull inspiration but it definitely works with modern records as well.
Does it also work with modern music, I have only seen demo's with these old songs but no thechno or house or other music for DJ's that mix for in the clubs.
Yes, it should work easily with modern stuff, probably a bit better with the higher detail. I think a lot of guys like myself just like those funky bass lines and arrangements from the old soul records.

It should work on all standalone MPCs because they all use the same chipset.

What’s good? Got a question about the sampling on all the MPCs and the software. On Ableton, when using Simpler, there a playback option that gives you the choice of Mono,Poly,and Thru. With the “Thru option, the sample will continue to play even when the next sample comes, is that making sense? If it does, is there anyway to do it on the MPCs and the MPC Software?
