The controller is nice but compare it with the 1000, I not think so. Pioneer made the mistake by charging $899 for this until without a 2 USB plug in. If I want to have another DJ to do a tag set, I can't. The DDJ 800 to me is a cross from the DDJ 400 and the DDJ 1000. Again, the reason I would not purchase it is the price. The DDJ 1000 priced at $1199 usd. The DDJ 400 (which I use currently) price at $249 usd. See the difference? If they would have price it at $599, I would purchase it right away. Unless Pioneer lower the price, I am afraid this unit will not sell well. I rather wait and save up the $1200 for the DDJ 1000 for it will be the last controller needed for DJs like me to play out in clubs and festivals.

Seeing Pioneer decided to produce a DDJ-1000SRT for Serato why do they not produce a DDJ-800 for Serato, I have nothing against the Rekordbox software but having used Serato for some time and being comfortable with it, a Serato DDJ-800 would be a sharp move for Pioneer as it would increase the sales of the 800 dramatically for those Serato users that, like me do not need the 4 channels on the 1000SRT, I would by a DDJ-800SRT tomorrow.

I just made this transition. I went from DDJ400 to DDJ 800 and have to say, it´s a different world. Everything... EG, PADs, knobs are way better. EQ is more sensitive. For ex, when I made mix on 400, It was very obvious when i started to killl midle freq., here at 800 is much more smoother and you can do your mixes really without noticing, that you are adjusting EQs. Ofcourse depends, what kind of mix you do. For quick mashup, DDJ 400 do OK, but I play progressive and deep house and really like long transmitions. DDJ800 works for me pretty well and I am super excited from this unit.

Well, I’m about to upgrade from 400 to 800 and the main reason I will not buy the 1000 is because, at least, I do not need all the features of the 1000. I am a beginner, and DJing is only a Hobby for me thus I have no reason to spend $200 additional dollars. Also, the size is perfect, is not so big as the 1000 and it makes it very confortable for me to carry it to a party or even my backyard. So, if this is your work, then go for the 1000, but if you only want to have some fun, then go for the 800.
