People! Scott's advice on disc golf is THE BEST available on CZcams.
Thanks Scott! Now Im a real dummie when it comes to sidearms and this IS the way to teach a dummie or any beginner. In every other video you just see "grip like this or this, and just throw it like this". The DETAILS ARE WHAT MATTER, and we have them here! 🙂
Thanks, Scott, for actually answering fixing problems on your channel.
I love getting tips from a legend. No more pizza for me.
Ok Scott I am blown away! Not only does this build on the great “throw a ball - don’t serve pizza” advice, but it helps reinforce that motion.
I just went out and shot a round trying out two new discs and forehands only and I didn’t roll my wrist once!
best forehand instructor in the game right here folks

Another great sidearm video, I’ll try to focus on these things next time out on the course!
You told me about this at the Salem clinic. Been waiting for this one! Thank you!
Thanks for this, Scott! Great advice!
Hybrid grip is best for me. Pads on rim + plate offer good grip with consistent release of disc off pads. Just gotta monitor the wrist roll tendency like you say. Awesome video Scott.
That was great Scott, thank you!
Thanks bro!
thanks for the tips, Scott! Really appreciate your channel!
I needed this video SO bad. This one hit the spot for me. Only been playing a year. I have half of a finger for my middle finger. So instead of playing with two fingers for my forehand, I've been using 2.5 fingers. Pretty much ensuring that my fingers are all three flat on the disc, rather than on the rim. I think I may try to go back to one finger and see if I can stop dirting my forehand shots. Thanks Scott.
Thanks, Scott
I also see a lot of newer players trying to force over an averstable disc on forehand, this is also a big cause of rolling the wrist. I guess they dont realize an understable disc whenthrown flat will give them that bit of natural turn without having to force the disc over so much on anhyzer so it has room to fade back.
Whoa, Scott Stokely highlighted my comment! I wish I would have articulated my point better. Glad you understood my point. I used to have this problem when learning forehand because I felt my Draco was so "reliable". It is, but this is an easy trap to fall into.
Thanks for the tip 🙏🙏
That helps a lot
The first one is something I need hammered into my head! Also, a great tip about the grip. Thanks!
Thanks .
You the best!
Scott, you are one of the all-time greats of the sport and a wealth of knowledge... but your form always looks like someone on the verge of falling over, lol
Without knowing if it's going to be you or one of your certified stokeley method coaches doing the day training I wouldn't risk signing up for that price
There is no risk that the Stokely Method works no matter who delivers the content! I'm very protective of my the processes I created, I only certify the best teachers in the business. You can also see which Coach is presenting on the event detail page.
@@ScottStokelyDG thanks so much but I've been a fan of yours for a long time so I just want to see you sorry if that's selfish and nothing against the other coaches
@@ScottStokelyDGIs there a reason some clinics are 25% more per ticket in some areas ?
@@dalereinhold640 Liberal Tax lol 😂
@finklesteenDK420 all major companies from McDonald's to Ford do this with the price of their goods. It probably costs more for hotels, food, and transportation for the teachers in some areas so they charge more to still make the same profit... smh
I see this teaching frequently and it makes sense, but when I actually go to grip a disc I literally can't do it. I can rest the disc on my fingers so that the pads are pushing against the inside of the rim, but the moment I grip the disc, and apply pressure with my thumb, the disc tilts up and my fingers are angled roughly 45 degrees instead of entirely against the inside of the rim. Is my hand shaped oddly? Am I missing something really obvious? I literally cannot grip the disc with enough pressure to throw it and have my fingers in the right direction.
Would love to hear more about this. Would you join my discord? Link in the channel banner.
I suck at sidearm throws. Only disc i side arm well is the stokely cardinal, and axiom envy...
I worked in a pizzeria for years. A lot to unlearn. Lol
My forehand comes and goes. I stick with it anyway.
I'm very clean and accurate with my sidearm to about 320ft. I sidearm every disc in my bag, meaning I don't have sidearm discs cause I can throw my flippiest discs just fine, how do I get more distance. I want that 450ft sidearm, lol
@@prattacaster You probably need to work on your timing with the run up, rotation of the hips, swing of the arm and snap of the wrist 👌 same as backhand, it's the correct transfer of energy into the disc that gives you more distance eventually
From my brief experience playing the game both of those tips will make me roll my wrist even more. If I stand sideways and keep my palm to the sky I throw 350 - 400 ft bombs 😅
I still serve the pizza 400ft accurately. I'm "double jointed" hyper mobile. I have wayyyy more power in my pizza flick 🤷♂️
Strange. My fix was to go to 45 degress. I was rolling when I had my fingertips only out and not up at all. Not sure this is good advice for hyzerflips and long distance. You lose a ton of stability. Seems like an anhyzer only angle. For reference I throw 67mph and 430+ feet forehand.
Wrist-rolling is the backhand rounding mistake of the forehand.
Go Skip Rocks at your local pond after a few days of skipping Rocks
Take that to the field and skip that rock with a disc, leading edge control
WaLa there you have it
Throw a ball.
Is it just me or is voice not keeping up with his mouth
nah, it's very desynced. He doesn't have a fulltime video person so you get what you get.
