Maldini is surely the greatest defender. He could play today and still dominate. Maybe in terms of defending alone Moore, Beckenbauer and Maldini are all very close in their defending skill, but Maldini's positional sense puts him above those two
Bobby More was the greatest defender in the history of the game of football. He wasn't quick, but nobody could time a tackle like Bobby. You could see the mutual respect that Bobby and Pele had for each other in this 1970 World Cup match. Bobby Moore and Pele are two of the all-time greats.

I remember once seeing the ball pinging about in the West Ham penalty, and next thing Booby Moore strolled out with the ball at his feet calmly, under total control and set up an attack. A man near near me shouted "AAAAHHH Majestic". He was right of course, but Moore did this so very often. I am so glad that I watched him regularly during his time. He was a football genius, I sometime get tears watching videos like this.

Thankful to have seen Moore and Pele play when I was a child. Great memories. Bobby was also one of my neighbors in 1976.

I grew up in East London, a long time ago. You either supported West Ham or the Orient. My whole family were O's fans and so am I. But we all believe that Bobby Moore was the greatest defender, not of his generation, but of all time. God bless him.
I can't stop laughing out of sheer nervousness, i get tingles just watching the Grandmaster of reading players in action. Everytime i see him get the ball through tackles and defence i think " Damn Bobby, you don't fuck around do you?" Its a damn shame he's an 88 avg on Fifa 16. I know for damn sure he ought to be at least 90 avg.

My all time greatest sporting hero - and I hate West Ham too. So sad his passing which could have been avoided - he will always be Sir Booby Moore to me. This game is the greatest game of football ever and Booby was superb. Genius and Pele thought so too.

Fact England only lost 1-0 to arguably the greatest ever World Cup winning team in 1970 I think confirms England were a bloody good team. 1966 was no fluke.
Especially as we missed so many good chances.
