  • Long has a debate raged over the topic of foresight. Some say that knowing the time and manner of death would be advisable, as they could make peace and live what life they do have to the fullest before their end. Others, though, would feel such knowledge as an inescapable cloud looming over their heads for their entire lives. Most adults would surely crack under such pressure, let alone children, but in the world of A Song of Ice and Fire, a young greendreamer displayed mental and emotional fortitude worthy of legend. This man, or rather, boy, was Jojen Reed. Hello everyone, and welcome back to Exploring Fiction. The son of Ned Stark’s greatest ally and a recipient of greendreams, Jojen Reed knew what day he would die, yet he persevered in his aid of a crippled wolf despite the eventuality it would cause. Already uncanny because of his nature as a crannogman, Jojen was even more secluded due to his prophetic powers, which existed both as a blessing and a curse. He carried arcane and predictive knowledge with him wherever he went, leaving him stoic and sullen beyond his years. With every move he made, he marched straight toward his own doom, but he bore the burden nobly and thought not of himself, but of the greater good. Fully grown and “heroic” men suffered less and complained more than Jojen Reed, who instead sought only to fulfill his purpose. So, who exactly is Jojen Reed, and why is he such an interesting character? Let’s explore…

Thank you! Once I make sure I have something specific to say about the Greatjon, I would definitely make a video about him.

In ASOIAF magic works with blood sacrifice. Dany’s 3 dragons are born from the death of her husband, son, and a witch. Likewise Bran comes into his power from the sacrifice of Jojen, a fellow greenseer.

I do like that theory. Hopefully we get to see with certainty whether it's true or not

Do these kids have parents? Jojen was sickly when he LEFT home..wtf are his parents THINKING? Unless...they aren't kids. Or people. Most of these 'people' act a lot like animals. They even describe themselves/each other as animals.

The father, Howland Reed, goes way back with the Starks. And since Howland knows Jojen has prophetic dreams there was no point in arguing against Jojen’s quest to help Bran. Jojen knew he was destined to die to help Bran. And Howland accepted that his son would meet his fate. It’s not much different from the many northern lords who send their sons with Robb’s army.

@andrewward5891 I'm not complaining-I am just saying that 100% these characters are also fantastical animal creatures. Like Watership Down, kind of. Animal Farm.

Could warging be used to permanently take over someone's body?

I don't know but that's an interesting thought!

Orell from the Wildlings warged into his eagle when he was killed. So I guess a talented warg could possible take over a human permanently.
