She's the Kardashian prototype, an influencer before an influencer became a thing. She can't continue the same stint because we see influencers for what they are now.
Yep she's always been this way. The difference between 20 years ago and now is that we have a new generation of young adults who are used to saying what they think to celebrities faces, whereas 20 years ago we just talked about it to each other while seeing them on the tv.
Say what you want about how horrible the covid era was, but one good thing that came of it was that people started to really see through celebrity bs. Whining in their mansions while us normies had to figure out how to do basic life stuff on a covid budget. People now are just (rightfully) more critical
Now we have social media where we can all say our experiences. Back then it was only word of mouth. Now ppl from all over can say what their experience was and it’s harder for celebs to hide from accountability
Jennifer Lopez is a product of a different generation. She's an OG industry plant. She's a performer and an actress 24/7. When she's the one speaking, it's baaaaaaaad, and people hate it. She doesn't cut it in this era because she has no depth. She can't understand why people aren't flocking to her. There is no Jenny from the block. There's no soul to attach to. She's like these AI artists. Just a pawn and her brand of celebrity is no longer what's bringing in money.
It's because she is mean and fake, people are realizing who she is,it's not about depth,we live in a era of tiktok and Instagram models,it's about people don't liking divas anymore.
I think that people like divas, they just don't like the attitude associated with being labeled a diva i.e. how Mariah Carey carries herself. If you have the talent to back up the attitude, it's somewhat justified to have that attitude, but J. Lo does NOT have the talent behind it.
I remember years ago, people claimed that Mariah wouldn’t “let it go” when reporters would hound her about her JLo experience. They’d claim that JLo only had nice things to say and that Mariah was bitter. But Mariah had EVERY right to feel the way she did - JLo is known to be nasty in the industry. I’m glad people are starting to see her for who she’s always been. On that note, cheers to Natasha Ramos for singing Jenny From The Block!
She can't accept that her prime was in the early 2000s and she's not relevant anymore, even though she so badly wants to be one of the "remembered ones" like Whitney Houston or Michael Jackson. It must SUCK to get so far in life and still feel like it's not good enough. That being said, she's giving narcissist.
She also didn't do shit in her prime. While Britney and Beyonce were always recording new material or on a world tour or in rehearsal for their next world tour, where the fuck was she? Schmoozing at Hollywood parties. She has always been in it for the bling, not the craft.
I have meet j lo one time she was wearing full length fur coat and I went up to her ask her I I could get in picture with her she told me to fuck off then she spit in my face then she walk way on her phone

what's crazy is JLO actually has an incredibly impressive array of hits (albeit written by others) and commercial success in both music and film... yet seems to have ZERO impact on culture at large. No one has ever listed JLO as an influence. EVER. People list Janet, Madonna, Britney, Gaga, Beyoncé as influence all the time but never JLO. I feel like what Mandy Moore and Jessica Simpson are to Britney Spears, JLO is to Beyoncé. Yet, somehow she's managed to maintain mainstream relevance much longer.
@@LisaLisaCJ True. I'm actually genuinely confused how JLO still manages to have a net worth of $400 million. She also has a failed skin care line. Like how hasn't she gone broke yet?
@@letBIGGIErest PR. People confuse hype with relevance. J.lo goes to the opening of an envelope. She's not even nominated for anything, but it gets her seen and heard. The only way she get talked about now is if she dates other celebrities. None of her music or movies have sold in the past decade. She just keeps her name in the press and clings to endorsement deals she gets from hype, which are drying up. That's why she's doing all of this. She's not worth that much, but that's another story, and more hype.
What I got from the documentary is that JLo just takes herself WAY too seriously, and it backfired. It's only caused people to re-examine her career, instead adding anything new to it. And I get that she's an artist, and felt driven to tell this story about love in her life, but I also think she's just out of touch with reality to think that it's some groundbreaking film.
I think she never recovered from the Ben Affleck break up and she really wants to tell us that she's loved and admired. She needs validation way way too much.
Ya know, Madonna was never shy to admit she didn't have the best voice, but she worked to expand the hell out of it. Sure, it was for the Evita film in the mid-to-late 90's after she was already a super star and she needed more range for that project she worked hard to get, but like - what is stopping J-Lo from doing that? Get that same vocal coach and work it out. Katy Perry too did not have the best voice, but clearly worked on, as her stardom grew, she improved. Now, are any of these people Whitney? No - but like, no one is Whitney. But the difference, of course, is that Katy and Madonna especially, had something more to grab onto, so a merely good voice was fine, but also, they worked to noticeably improve. Again, why is J-Lo above this? Is she really that clueless? I guess Tone-Deaf is the proper word, and it works on many levels for her. That motown story is.... yikes.
Madonna's career has so much more depth than anything Jennifer has done. Madonna always released musical projects that were different from her previous work.
@mistiroberts1576 as someone who studied music and vocal training for almost 7 years, yeah Madonna is a very good singer. She may not be Mariah, but her vocals are way beyond anything JLo, Taylor Swift or a lot of other female singers can do vocally.
She is trying to appeal to the masses the way artists like sza does but when you steal songs, concepts, and vocals from actual underdogs and mostly black women, you will never succeed.
A lot of those songs didn’t even really need vocals all that technically impressive. And she still she needed to copy-paste other singer’s vocals 😭 it’s like she did it just for fun and the power trip. I can’t imagine anyone’s voice being THAT TERRIBLE when they claim to be a singer.
@@niteycatblack woman don’t need revenge. When people steal from you and try to keep you down, karma takes the trash out for you. All black women have to do is watch. 😂
I work in Hollywood (small stuff) and a friend of mine in a union makeup artist (BIG deal). She filled in while JLo’s personal makeup artist was sick and she called me almost every night crying about how mean JLo was to her. I guess she was upset that her usual makeup artist wasn’t there, but why did she take it out on my friend who was stepping in to HELP HER? It broke my heart and I was so happy once her usual makeup artist recovered.
Ppl can rag on Gwyneth but her image has never been that she’s “like us” and I respect that. Ironically, J.Lo once dissed her saying she knows more about Paltrow and Brad Pitt than Gwen’s career, but how the tables have turned.
Jenny with the Glock has never been authentic to me IMO. From her, and the Ashanti drama aswell as the Natasha drama. To now, the documentary. It definitely comes off as forced. Nothing wrong with not being relatable. Because not everybody is. But it is still somewhat cringy to me. 🥴
The two biggest problems are that the music is just plain bad and she's painfully unaware of her image. How can you be doing the most while putting out the most basic, unoriginal and tired music released this decade. It's like she's doing all these marketing stunts to compensate for a lack of creativity and artistry.
Imagine she acknowledged the pain she caused those singers, whose vocals she passed off as her own. Imagine she apologized to Mariah for allowing herself to be used to try and derail her career. It would redeem her in many people's eyes and we'd warm up towards her. No amount of rebranding, without addressing all the problematic things she's been accused of, will endear her to the masses.
It’s not the relatability that bothers me. It’s not even the diva behavior that she has with corporations and other stars. When she starts taking money back from service workers that not even hers in the first place to take back when she starts treating service workers poorly that’s what I have a problem with.
Ditto. I have heard this about her a lot, and for her to take back a tip is essentially stealing. I don't care about her lip synching and bad movie. It's how she treats people that turned me off.
I don't think it's all the rumours of nasty behaviour causing this. I just think she got old without having built a core fan base that loves her for some specific skill . There was a time everyone listened to jlo but at no stage did she have a die hard fan base
Not really. Her album sales collapsed in 2001. That's why the fourth album was called Rebirth, because This Is Me Then's sales were so bad compared to Britney, Avril, Evanescence, etc. that her team needed to rebrand. But then Rebirth sold even less than TIMT so she went from releasing a new album every year to a new album every decade until now she no longer releases albums, just drops quick lil singles here and there. 😂 People caught on to the fact that the music is terrible very early on.
@@edselgreaves6503 I was paying attention to her back then. On The 6, J.Lo and This Is Me... Then were very successful albums with big hit singles from them. Her sales really began to decline with Rebirth.
She is lucky to have had the musical success thus far..People forget She had a pretty promising movie career very early on before the crappy rom-coms that ruined that lane..
She didn't really have musical success. Her first two albums sold well, but the third album This Is Me Then had abysmal sales compared to Britney, Avril, Evanescence, etc. so her team tried to rebrand by calling the fourth album Rebirth. If that had sold well, things would be different but it sold less than This Is Me Then because people realized she is just a singles artist, not an album artist. Her sales collapsed, and she went from releasing an album every year to releasing an album every decade, until now not even releasing an album but just dropping quick lil singles here and there to drum up interest. Millennials caught on to the fact that she doesn't really care about quality very early on.
Those crappy rom coms were such a stupid move. I would watch those movies in confusion and then I stopped at Monster in Law. Never again. She's now trying damsel in distress with that shitty wedding one and the preview was more than enough to put me off. She's a basic chic. Sorry to say.

JLo resurrected her music career from the doldrums when she became a judge on American Idol. Her brand as glamorous yet "real and relatable" always trumped her less than stellar singing skills. But audiences today are a bit savvier now towards these contrived and forced marketing campaigns.
And it's interesting because I've always found her to play very relatable characters when it comes to her film roles. I feel like most of her characters could be people I actually know. Her personality always seemed down to earth and shined through very well when it came it her acting.
Can you explain why a kid like me growing up in the 2000s wasn't catch able to catch to her right away? Because it took me another 10 years to see what everyone was talking about 😢
I told you, Mariah Carey and Chanté Moore warned you people about JHoe’s fraudulent acts & behaviors 20 years ago!! Also her entanglement in the music business. And those shady business behind the scene!! She was complicit to all of these!! But acts so innocent and sweet, especially on the Wendy Williams show! IYKYK!! I grew up with music. So my ears were attuned to sharp/ flat notes, voices etc.. I was always doubting myself on why JLow’s voice/s esp. in the chorus were always so different in every song. I’ve been knew more than 20 years that JBot’s stealing voices and passed it as her own. The audacity! The nerve! The cards of lies are tumbling down. JWho’s career is over, finally!! It’s long way overdue!! I hope she recover and retire peacefully. And do the world a very big favor. We deserve it!!
JLo tried so hard to do the Mariah shady move with Shakira on her dumb documentary about the Super Bowl. Shakira didn’t play her game coz she is a much grown up woman.
Shakira is ten million times more famous than she is. Who does she think she is kidding? Shakira is a legend in Latin America and at least as famous or more famous than Christina Aguilera in the English speaking nations. Jenni Vanilli is far below the ranks.
Well, I work at the restaurant, where JLo had dinner today! She was not regal at all, I had the honor of presenting her salads with mixtures of vocals from Ashanti, Brandy, Christina Milian, Natasha Ramos, Chante Moore, Makeba Riddick, Y’Anna Crawley, & Shawnyette Harrell 😅
Lol I can't believe she thought a million copy/paste bots were going to make her look good. She truly has no idea how the social media age works. Relic of the 90s.
If JLo was relatable, it would have been evident in her everyday life all along. When I read about how JLo wouldn’t acknowledge the Flight Attendant that asked her if she would like a beverage, and addressed her personal assistant sitting right beside her instead, well, that action speaks volumes! If one feels they are too busy, famous, important, rich, etc, to answer a “civilian person” in REAL TIME y’all, then that person’s not down to earth or relatable; that person has their head up in the clouds and has long forgot their basic roots. In summation, it is possible to be Uber rich and remain down to earth, humble, and relatable. Johnny Depp is one such person. His actions prove that he’s genuine. That’s why his worldwide fan base loves him. ❤
If Britney can do it, there is no excuse for Jennifer not to do it. Britney is ten million times more famous respected credible and hard working than Jenni Vanilli will ever be.
I always forget she has kids. Since she’s always hopping from man to man and seems like she cares more about getting a man than taking care of her kids.
I think she should do a Spanish album. She she study the Spanish greats and maybe do some covers of their well known songs. I think she sings better in Spanish.
She’s been chasing the praise she got for Selena. The problem is, it was too long ago. I’m an elder millennial (almost 40) and even I’m too young for the Selena era.
Don’t be confused by the bots that she bought, she’s still, she’s still Jenny with a glock. Used to be an actress and now she’s not. She now regrets saying where she came froooom-FROM THE BRONX!
JLo's antics to conceal her lack of talent are no longer effective. Without a doubt, she is the Female Milli Vanilli. To make her record decent, JLo had to use demo vocals from Ashanti, Brandy, Christina Milian, Natasha Ramos, Chante Moore, Makeba Riddick, Shawnyette Harrell, Y’Anna Crawley & other female artists she took advantage of.
Her stint on American Idol almost made her appear human but....she just can't help herself. She's determined to make herself appear demi-god but its such a hard pill to swallow for everyone outside her core fanbase. If you're not drinking the J-Lo Kool-Aid, her brand of celebrity feels so out of touch with 2024. It feels....forced.
I don't understand why JLo has this need to be relatable. She just needs to embrace who she is, a diva who thinks she's better than everyone. And she needs to stop talking about the Bronx. The Bronx don't claim her and they don't f*ck with her.
I feel so validated you acknowledged the Motown tribute😅 till this day I think about it. JLO! Motown?!?!? 🤯 of ALLL THE TALENTED BLACK SINGERS?!?? Okayyyyy
I would also like to mention her tribute to Celia Cruz was not that great either, like it was fun and exiting but that's because it was Celias music, her boice was weird and he choreo even weirder like it was too stiff for salsa, it seems like she hired ball room salsa dancers instead of real salsa dancers, both are very different but it seems she doesn't kno the difference

Not only that, now celebrities can see and read it in real time, which mean they're pulling all kinds of stunts to protect their bruised egos
Both of these 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾
Say what you want about how horrible the covid era was, but one good thing that came of it was that people started to really see through celebrity bs.
This. Older generation were not that critical of celebrities. No one was questioning them.
Yepppp. Social media makes talent and beauty way more accessible so j lo is just some washed up entertainer who is grasping at straws to stay popular
Well put. ‘OG Industry Plant’ couldn’t have put it better
Lo does NOT have the talent behind it.

what's crazy is JLO actually has an incredibly impressive array of hits (albeit written by others) and commercial success in both music and film... yet seems to have ZERO impact on culture at large.
