Hey Honest please make a video about Shakira,she's an amazing artist who opened doors for latin artists. She was the first Southamerican to win Grammys in the US . She has a total of 16 Grammys ( 2 US Grammys and the rest Latin Grammys) and sold 80 million albums.
Shakira tried many genres! Pop,Rock, Reggeaton etc. Made the official song of three World Cups and became the first Southamerican to get #1in the US Billboard Hot 100!
What annoys me is that it seems like she didn’t even try to practice singing. She could’ve gotten a vocal coach and really went in and spent the time to develop her own style of singing, develop her own voice but she didn’t do that

That's exactly what I was thinking. I would have gone to a vocal coach to at least sing a little better but she is so full of herself she don't need no vocal coach. That's why I admire Pink, she was told by the record companies she wasn't a good vocalist, and she went and got voice lessons and soon after a record deal. To this day Pink still works with vocal coaches to improve her singing. JLo on the other hand....
The only people who cant sing are tone deaf ones. It's possible that she is. That still doesn't give her a right to steal other peoples stuff.

I do this - 🤦🤦🤦 - everytime I think about how much I use to stan Jennifer Lopez back in the day. I'm so glad I woke up, saw the light, and snapped out of that phase real quick! On another note, Mariah Carey's album 'Glitter' had some AMAZING songs! "Loverboy" was a banger back in the day. Change my mind.
Glitter the soundtrack was actually a GOOD album that had many great tracks in it. The movie, eh not so much. Unfortunately the movie's failure also impacted the soundtrack and the bad press on the movie ultimately overshadowed the accompanying soundtrack album. Added the fact that the record company (Virgin) seemed lazy to do a massive/aggressive promo for the album. There were so many underrated gems from that album that could've been big hits but unfortunately went under the radar, such as Lead the Way or Reflections (Care Enough) among many.

I don't remember reading that, but it probably came from her ex husband Tommy Matolla behind the scenes pulling the strings and paying magazines or tabloids to put articles like that out. Her ex is/was a very powerful man in the industry.

At the time it only sold 6M globally and 2M in the States which for MJ would be seen as a flop back then because his albums typically sold 20-30M. MJ shares his album was sabotaged because he was trying to exit his contract with Sony. He revealed Tommy is racist because Mariah spilled the tea (which she publicly recanted) but that was to save face.
Does anyone remember interviews pre-Selena movie? JLO was blah, rough around the edges. It was after mimicking Selena’s personality that she became engaging and memorable. Down to Selena’s laugh and mannerisms. And Mariah - totally seemed to lose it in that time. It was a big slap to her face.
That's a great observation. Selena was loved by her public because she came accross as the real deal. Jennifer started acting like her mimicking a few aspects like mixing English and Spanish or saying how proud she was of being Puerto rican blah blah blah and proud of "her people".
And Selena wasn’t an industry plant or manufactured/fake. She was genuine and a fantastic musician and person all together.
