  • Removing the seat is required on most power-adjust seat models and can make it much easier on manual-seat models. We prefer to remove the seat on both models as then we can see and work on the hold down and cable ends as needed.

      You can do that but I've found it much easier with the seat removed. It's 4 bolts and takes 1 minute to remove the seat. This is especially true on the start stop Jeeps with the auxiliary battery.

    This battery was NOT installed correctly or you would not have been able to remove it without first removing the alternate batter right next to it. THE ALTERNATE BATTERY AND BRACKET HAVE TO BE REMOVED FIRST BECAUSE THE BATTERY SLIDES IN AND OUT OF PLACE. If your battery is installed correctly, you CANNOT remove it without completely removing the alternate battery first

    It's not really necessary to remove the seat...
    1) Properly attach a 12V, 6Amp battery charger to the battery posts under the hood. This will allow you to move the power seat and to keep the memory alive.
    2) Remove the access panel to the battery under the front passenger seat.
    3) Move the seat as far BACK as possible.
    4) Loosen the 10mm positive battery connector, move aside, making sure not to short on the body panels.
    5) Move the seat as far FORWARD as possible, including UP and tilting forward.
    6) Loosen the 10mm negative battery connector, move aside.
    6) Remove the vent from the side of the battery, move aside.
    7) Remove the two 13mm nuts using a deep socket.
    8) Remove the hold-down bar.
    9) Carefully remove the battery from its location. It's heavy.
    Installation is the reverse procedure.

      It really makes it more accessible and easier if you unbolt and move the seat out of the way. It's super simple to remove the seat, and also please consider we videoed this for others, and its much easier to see with the seat removed.

    On my 2014 Jeep Cherokee SRT the seats are powered and you can't move the seats at all if the battery is dead. Mine (passenger seat), was positioned all the way back, so I had to remove the decorative cover for the rear left seat bolt cover/seat rail, to get to the nut and it was a bitch to remove. And I left it off because today I'm changing out the another dead battery for the 3rd time.

    If you aren’t removing the seat you are doing it all wrong. I cannot begin to tell you what a huge difference it made removing the seat. And it was easy. Before you say it’s dangerous because you don’t know the torque let me say this as long as the bolts are very tight that seat isn’t going anywhere.

      Well, congrats, but If you are referring to the seat removal, does your model have full power seats?Seat removal is not required on all models as it depends on the year and if you have the full power-adjustable options. We are also not in a race and recording a video to show people how to do it. Then instead of McDonalds, we went to Five Guys and had excellent burgers and fries! 😘

    Don’t listen to this video. DO NOT REMOVE THE SEAT!! For one you don’t need too, secondly it’s a safety concern if not torqued properly with a thread lock.
    Slide the seat forward and work from the back, after you remove the tie down you can slide the battery back to remove the positive terminal and then slide the battery right out.

    • @Velo1010
      @Velo1010 Před 6 měsíci

      I disagree. Removing the seat is a piece of cake. And getting access to the battery with the seat unbolted and tilted back makes the job very easy. The difference with my battery charge is I didn’t unplug anything. As far as torque I was shocked the bolts aren’t extremely tight. You can find the correct torque for those bolts. One thing I noticed in this video there weren’t any brackets holding the battery down. That’s a little concerning.

    OMG You removed the passenger seat... TOTALLY NOT NECESSARY... You are giving people way too much work and giving incorrect instructions. If you have a 2014 to 2019 Jeep Grand Cherokee, you DO NOT need to remove the seat

    • @APDTY
      @APDTY  Před 7 měsíci

      Don't be scared to remove the seat. It makes this job so much easier. It has four simple bolts and one electrical connector to get it out of your way. If you do this job more than once, you will likely remove the seat after doing it without removing the seat.
