We GREATLY appreciate everyone who has watched……HOWEVER!!!!……did want to point out with everyone’s comment about needing to raise seat up and forward to get battery out…..WE TRIED!!!!……I don’t know if previous owner had installed a bigger battery or what. It would not come out without removing seat……but in the end….3 minutes work made it SO MUCH EASIER!!!!
Im sure you figured it out by now but while you do have to push the seat all the way up, you must also us the LIFT a feature and raise the else at all the way up with the horizontal button on the side. If you do this, u don’t have to unbolt seat. Battery comes out easily, took me 10 minutes

I’m convinced at the time, the Jeep engineers thought it was a great idea to build a vehicle around the battery! Great idea keeping a power source active so you can move the seat. My 2015 Jeep Grand Cherokee is starting to show signs the battery is going bad. The remote start with the key fob isn’t working, and the ole girl starts a little harder than it should. I guess I better start budgeting about $250 for a replacement!
One of those “better” ideas. I guess at least in the case of the SRT….shove a HUGE motor in a little space…..”Where we gonna put the battery?…Oh yeah, we probably need one of those. Hey !!!!…..Let’s just shove it under the seat. “
I would like to share why they would put the battery under the seat, since they offered 3 engine options 2 of the engine options would not allow for the battery to fit under the hood, the eco-diesel and the 5.7L HEMI the engines and accessories were too large to fit a large enough battery under the hood, while they coil have moved the fuse box where the battery currently resides it would not be cost effective as they would have to make wires way longer, and it would increase resistance in the wires.
On regular jeep grandcherokee we can raise the seat up using the same control thhat slides the seat forward backward.slide forwards and up
Yeah….I don’t know what the difference is or why Chrysler Fiat would do that……DUMB….maybe it’s the Recaros?….I just don’t know.
Man idk what in the world they were thinking putting that under the passenger seat! That is nuts!!! And the instructions on the under side of the cover 😂
Like you know….In case of emergency….lift the lid for instructions!!!

About to replace the battery in our '17 GC Limited, as it is the original one but having issues lately. My '19 Challenger Scat Pack has the battery in the trunk...least you have easy access to it...but why underneath the passenger seat on a Cherokee???...you would think the design engineers would be worried about fumes or leakage...thanks for the video.
It is an AGM battery so no leakage or fumes. It is vented outside through a conglomeration of “stuff” Chrysler / FIAT stuffs in there but it is the silliest thing I’ve seen….you should be able to move the seat all the way forward and up to get it out. Ours had been charged before and was slightly larger…reason for seat removal. Made it sooooo much easier.
Grand Cherokee 2015 Laredo is the same but here in australia it’s under the drivers seat because we drive on the right of the car,so the battery stays where it is, america or australia right hand side of car. Loved the video thank you👍now I won’t go crazy when I have to remove it.

Ive been told if you move seat all way forward and up….it will come out back….ours would not….
I've seen a couple of videos where the person changed the battery on a JGC SRT without loosening the actual seat by flipping the battery on it side after it was disconnected. Then they were able to pull it up and out.
I did think about it….But it is to easy to just unbolt the 4 fasteners and have all the room in the world to do it without having to wrestle that heavy block of battery. LOL
I've had my Hemi JGC since 2017 and never checked the battery, now I know why.

I changed the battery on mine but now the car is saying ( don’t shut engine off continue in D) is that because my battery not supplying enough power and does the 2014 overland 5.7 have a auxiliary battery and if so where.?
Does the Overland have the auto start stop feature? ( like when you come to a stop it automatically shuts off and then when you release brake it starts back up to go again ) If so, those systems have an additional battery.
YEP... that is "Crazy" 😧. I've seen the battery in the trunk, I think it was a Challenger/Charger SRT, but a Jeep? Just curious you recall the CCA rating on a $229 battery? That seems about double or more on a 800 CCA, which is what I have in my GC Larado.

OMG , guess a spark plug change would definitely be a trip to a shop .
Probably not that bad on the 6.4…There’s plenty room in engine bay….not much anywhere else though for sure !!!
I own 2017 Jeep Grand Cherokee Overland w 5.7, you have to have the seat go up more, I got a higher CCA seems the 700 is not good enough for all the buttons and whistles. I guess I love Jeeps I also own 2013 with the V6.
I tried standing on my head before it was over with. I just found the 2 minutes to move the seat made it SO much easier in the end. I would do it just like that again if need be.

What is the mileage on your SRT. 💰💰💰💰
As far as…..Fuel mileage?….Or how many are on it now? If we are empty…no trailer…about 15 to 16 around town. We just did about 3k miles and we’re averaging 19 to 20 on the highway…cruise set at 82…..as far as how many miles are on it….about 62k……with the trailer and my 2016 Rubicon behind it…..10 to 11 65mph.
it's worse for the regular grand cherokee. there is a stop start feature that requires an auxiliary battery,,, it goes in the same spot as the regular battery... if you can imagine, it doesn't leave you with much clearance. anyway, pro tip, you don't need to loosen the seats, you can just rotate the battery on its side and slide it out.
Man I tried everything including standing on my head….just can’t enough room to turn it over. I just gave up and took the 2 minutes to move the seat. Way worth it in the end.
@@ALongLongWaytoGO yeah, i busted my knuckles up pretty bad. too scared to remove the seat. would have made it a lot easier! also, that battery with the auxiliary battery was $440 with tax and each battery is a core deposit. i miss those $100 battery days!
