  • Is titanium good for mountain bikes?
    The material has its pros and cons, but few could argue with this wondrous metal’s ability to draw riders into it.
    Titanium bikes and frames are not the cheapest, lightest, stiffest or fastest in most cases, but the raw finish of their tubes sets the hearts of some riders racing.
    Whether it's off-the-shelf or custom-built, a titanium bike can offer the ride of a lifetime, something that stands out from the crowd of cookie-cutter aluminium and carbon bikes.
    As a tribute to titanium (or Ti for short), check out 5 Ti mountain bikes that are worthy of your attention. If you want your mountain bike to be special, you’ll want to watch this.
    Would you buy a titanium bike, or do you already own one?

    I have a titamium Esker Hayduke and it is amazing! I love how this frame feels and the geometry is in the perfect sweet spot and not overly long and slack like so many bikes these days. Long and slack is not a good way to have an all around bike, it's essentially only good for steep downhill at high speeds.

    Esker Japhy should definitely have made this list

      The Japhy looks an ace bike! It was a toss up between this and the Revel to which we would include

      Hard to miss Litespeed when you talk about Lynskey, given it was Lynskey that started (and later sold) Litespeed, before starting up their eponymous brand.

      They make some lovely bikes, but as said, the Lynskey family started the brand before going their own way.

    For a hardtail ti is great. Lightweight, no rust, supple ride, hard to scratch,

    • @bikeradar
      @bikeradar  Před 28 dny

      Its a lovely material! Not easy to work with, or cheap and can be prone to cracking at the welds, but little else will do it for some people!

      @@bikeradar welding is difficult with ti. The oxygen levels have to be monitored else it overheats. I think that’s what makes the frames prone to weld cracking
