      Its all because Chovy cracked Faker's secret.
      Earlier in his career, Chovy ALWAYS lost to Faker. T1 beat GenG in LCK finals like 2 or 3 years in a row, every time. The T1 - GenG match up used to be like 12 to 3 in favor or T1 or something crazy like that. Chovy himself said Faker was the hardest mid to play against because of his "mind game". Recently, Chovy has said he understood Faker's playstyle better now, and coincidently that was also when GenG started to flip the record against T1.

    I think Top Esports from this past year should have gotten an honorable mention. A large part of the LPL community expected standout rookie Wayward, reigning MVP Tian, 2018 IG duo Rookie and JackeyLove, and solid support Mark to be a heavy contender for much more than they achieved, many even initially believing that they were the primary LPL team that could stand up to this year’s JDG. Instead, they ended up 7th in the regular season in spring before beating an underwhelming Team WE roster in the playoffs and losing to OMG. In summer, they finished fourth in the regular season and beat EDG 3-2 in playoffs before losing 3-1s from BLG and LNG. They then lost the regional finals to Weibo Gaming of all teams, ending a very sub par year

    I think the 2017 ardent senser meta is a better example of how riot nerfed kingzone. The disastrous buff of ardent senser before worlds 2017 was even worse. Kingzone was known as Longzhu at that tournament, and they had exceled in playing hyperaggro carry toplaners. The ardent senser meta in worlds 2017 completely shut down the aggression of Khan who excelled in carry toplaners, which was very hard to do against a hyperfarming ad carry and support ardent senser lineup back then, Khan had to play out of comfort picks all tournament!

    • @404Kiwi
      @404Kiwi Před 4 měsíci +1

      It also highlighted how dogshit of a coach zandarch was. Slow at reading and adapting to the meta. You could tell the team just chilled before the actual march and didn't practice for it looking at those dogshit drafts. I imagine if KT never hired him they'd have at least a few more titles or at least world appearances. I hate him so much. So many good teams fumbled because of this man's drafting. He is what the owner of GRF accused CVmax of. In that any coach could have coached these teams and gotten the same results cus he's so useless.

      @@jmoak14 not true, riot intended to nerf it before worlds 2017 but as we all know Riots intentions dont always allign with what happens to the game. The change to the item was that the lifesteal andattackspeed buff to allies went from scaling through levels to a flat amount of attackspeed/lifesteal. This just made the item absolutely absurd. It didnt turn out to be the nerf that made the item weaker, it just made the item stronger and more valuable earlier on. The item was so insanely abused all tournament, all the games just turned to a speedrun for supports to get ardent as soon as possible, whoever got the item first just won most of the time. This wasnt a problem earlier that season, longzhu dominated the LCK during the summer split that year before the change and even before that the item had still been absurdly powerful.

    Good vid but I would argue KZD 2018 and LGD 2015 aren't truly failed super teams, they just had one notable huge underperformance.
    LGD 2015 took EDG to 5 games in spring playoffs coming 2nd and won summer, hardly a bad year. For KZD they had an insane spring split too going 16-2 and winning the split. They stand apart from the rest of the teams who barely accomplished anything and did have their own fair share of success.

    • @peternguyen7077
      @peternguyen7077 Před 4 měsíci

      For KZ I would consider them a failure as they lost to RNG in a series they should of won since this was still during the era of korean dominance and their lost foreshadowed lpl was getting closer to lck. In addition they also lost to SSG the team that went to worlds and bombed out of group stage. They are not the worst super team, but they did fail considering they had so much talent and choked when it mattered.

    Because of that 2021 FPX team I actually watched every LPL games that year beside a few bottom team vs bottom team matches.
    FPX was definitely the best team in LPL and they got robbed both spring and summer split by the lower bracket format. If there was no lower bracket or if FPX could have a second chance by being from winners bracket they would’ve definitely won both splits and would’ve not boomed at worlds.
    They were most people’s favorites going into worlds even as a 2nd seed.
    Doinb isn’t known to be the mechanical player that 1v9s games, but in summer that year he literally put his team on his back and carried every game in regular season. I honestly believe that his regular season is the best individual split of all time. Even Faker never had a split like that. And that split will be forgotten because they didn’t win.

    Dude if you want to call it "biggest chokers in LoL history" ok, but if it's "worst superteams" there's simply NO WAY you can have kt's superteam in the conversation. Yeah, they didn't win every tournament possible and Worlds (which is something you'd expect from a team with 3 goats at the time and a top 2 adc ever) like they were supposed to, but they were still one of the best teams in the world during that period. Their early games were by far the best, they constantly did tower dives (which was something that wasn't done in the LCK since the league was super slow) or smashed top lane with combos like Renekton Elise. And they obviously won the LCK and were easily the second best team in Worlds 2018.

      2018 isn't relevant to what the video is discussing though. The video specifically talks about the roster from 2017. While Pawn played most games in 2018 Spring, he played only 1 game in Summer and 0 at Worlds 2018. They were doing good in 2018 despite not having Pawn lmao.

    • @NotASummoner

      There's no way you can't have them. They straight up didn't qualify for worlds 2017 with what was probably the GOATs in 3 of their roles at the time, Deft being top 2 adc in the world and pawn being around top 5 somewhere.
      It's the only true superteam in LoL history and they won 1 split out of 4, made it to 1 out of 2 worlds and losing in quarters.
      There have been other superteams regionally but no other team has had the best players in 4/5 roles join the same team.

    In LCK fandom, we consider 17KT as the first failed super team of LCK. The world 'Dae-per Team', which is a slang used in LCK fandom to call a failed super team comes from 17 KT. There are some teams considered as a failed, or at least underperformed super team such as 19 SKT, 20 Gen.G, 23 HLE. I think that 23 HLE also can be considered as a failed super team. They made a roaster of Kingen-Clid-Zeka-Viper-Life, which cobtained 3 world winners. However, due to Clid's sexual harassment, they used Grizzly, a rookie instead of Clid, so they failed to qualify to Worlds. Basically the same roster apart from Ucal taking PawN's place was the only one to take games from 2018's IG past the group stage, and they took them to a Bo5 that was down to the wire. The team wasn't bad, they needed time to cook. If indeed they won the Bo5 against iG we would have had KT blast through G2 and FNC as our 2018 world champions
    2023 VIT deserves more of a spot, great Korean prospect toplaner, one of the hottest mechanical junglers exiled from the LPL for his insider betting, one of the best historical LEC mids, fresh high potential rookie adc, and kaiser I guess he has LEC titles with MAD. 2023 VIT did not have a "fresh high potential rookie adc". Neon has been in the LEC off and on since mid 2018. Both Kaiser and Perkz came off bad years. Also while Photon and Bo were promising talent, they can't turn 3 meh players into a super team. 2022 VIT everyone's stock was way better at the time and Labrov was the best from the previous year's roster. Honourable mention to 2020 spring Excel, to a small extent. Superstar toplaner Expect, jungler/shotcaller Caedrel, mechanically gifted midlaner Mickey, Prodigy ADC Patrik, and solid EULCS veteran support Tore. Most coming off very solid runs. The potential for this team was fantastic, and there was a massive push from Excel staff to support them as best as possible, they just imploded mentally. It was such a shame, and an opportunity for the org to really hit the ground running and make a name for themselves.

    Super team SKT 2019 was the most disappointing for me. Khan,Clid,Faker,Teddy,Mata was supposedly the #1 contender for that year World, just by how they dominated the LCK.
    And then Mata underperformed, leaving the sp role to Effort to duo with Teddy - who is a safe-play adc, the bot lane was completely ruined. Losing to G2 that year at quarterfinal was so unbelivable, they lost without even packing some serious punches
