We are using SCM History "Matthew, Acts, and Ancient Rome" this year but I love AGF Language Arts. What cycle would you recommend? I was thinking Cycle 2 since we've camped out in Ancient History for two years it would give my 10 year old some knowledge of American History.

Can you use the language arts packets without using the history component?

I use AGF, and from my experience I think you could definitely use the LA packet without using the rest of the curriculum. 👍
