    Love that you did this. I’ve bought AGF for next year, after using HOD and some SCM in the past. Julie Ross also has a great podcast!

    Hi! I am so thankful you did this video! I’m back and forth with HOD And AGF. I absolutely fell in love with AGF but feel as though maybe HOD would more more interesting for my littles. I don’t know though. This will be our first year homeschooling and love the Charlotte mason philosophy. I’ve already been doing “school” with my youngest, AGF didn’t have an option for him I don’t think and HOD does so thinking about just doing HOD this year and seeing how we like it. Pray for us if you have a moment. A little nervous and excited all at the same time
    Again, thanks for this informative video!!

    Thanks for sharing this. I’ve often wondered about HOD and AGF. I wish there was a Canadian option with A Gentle Feast. I’m planning to modify AO for our history cycle for next year. My oldest is catching on well to narration prompts already.
    I also was not a fan of the 6 year cycle that SCM uses. Not wrong, just a little dragged out imo. I suppose I could utilize it for the ancient history portion in form 2. I Love their living book list.
    Have you done any of the SCM science/nature studies?

      AGF actually does have a Canadian option for each cycle! 👍 I have only used the birds study from SCM that uses the Burgess Bird Book and we did enjoy that. I know they recently updated their science guides, so I'm not sure if they still have the one we used or not.

    Thank you for this comparison! I've used some of SCM materials, and it didnt quite work for us. But I'm leaning towards AGF. But looking at the website, is the teacher manual no longer available as a printed book? I hate the idea of using an online teachers guide :(

      I hope AGF will be a good fit for your family! As far as I know the pri ted teacher's manuals are still an option (I purchased mine for this coming year in November), but if the website isn't giving it as an option it may be that they are out of stock and waiting for a reprint. I would just email them and ask since I know that was the case with several items earlier this year. 👍

    Which one do you prefer?

      For my family size, I really prefer AGF. They are all good options, but I like the ability to have all of my kids studying the same time period and only having to worry about 4 forms instead of 12 grades with AGF.

    So do you use a gentle feast for everything?

    • @preparingheartsathome
      @preparingheartsathome  Před 2 lety

      AGF is a complete curriculum that has most subjects scheduled in the lesson plans. Some subjects (like math, foreign language, art, singing, latin) aren't fully scheduled, but she does give recommendations on what to use and how many days per week to do it. There are a couple subjects I don't personally follow her plans for, like phonics and handwriting, because I had already found something I was happy with before starting AGF.

    Hi New Subscriber! Welcome for your new Baby. I am doing ambleside online mixed with scm but I am pretty positive I am going to swap over to a gentle feast.

      Thanks! I think you will find switching to AGF to be a smooth transition once you get used to the ins and outs of how it's set up. 😊
