    It sounds like you had a really good school year 😍 We are not finished yet. We are switching to doing year round schooling BUT I definitely have been reviewing as we have gone along and this has been a real transitional year for us.

    Thanks for sharing!! We have been doing group subjects since the start and it's the best for us, for sure. We do My Father's World. This looks good too though.

    Like the idea of watching videos to fill out state pages.

    I LOVED Pollyanna as a movie as a kid but didn’t read it until I was an adult! I’m glad I waited to read it because it was a delightful read then!

  • @CalmintheChaosHomeschool

    I actually love how you can choose not to use the same curriculum, even though it was great. I do that too. Sometimes I need variety and sometimes it’s just not the right fit for the next year.

    Love the idea of adding the songs and the videos about the states. We will learn about 50 states with Notgrass, and my daughter will learn Geography, so we will kinda be learning on the same things next year and that is exciting! I love hearing about Morning Time, I have thought about adding that in, but I didn't know the time commitment it would take, do you mind sharing about how long it took you guys? again, thanks for being honest in your videos.. This will be our 4th year homeschooling and I am realizing why curriculum changes are needed. :) do what works for your family.

      For Morning Time, it can be as quick as 15 minutes ( memory verse, me reading Bible, listen/sing hymn, and kids say Poem). If we move through like that, it doesn’t take long. On average it’s about 30 minutes, if we do extra Bible discussion, or talk about what the memory verse or poem means, or do the picture or composer study, and geography songs. I don’t do ALL of those every day. We rotate through them. (Loop schedule) I don’t always include Read Alouds with Morning Time, but if I do it adds another 30 minutes. Does that help?? I feel like it takes longer if I’m not prepared. But now that we have a good flow, we go through it pretty quickly.

      @@JoyfulNoiseLiving this does help! Thank you!! I am wanting something to bring my 9th grader and 4th grader together next year, a little more than what we have been doing, and I think a "Morning Time" would help that :) but also let her have her independent time.

    For the most part, I also let my daughter stop books if she isn't loving them. In the past 2 years, she has only stopped 3 books, which I think is great and gives her a lot of credibility in only asking to stop them if she really isn't enjoying them. Were you happy with Simple Spanish?

      Thank you so much!! 😍 I'm honored! ☺️ I use the Christian Liberty Press Nature Readers. Super simple, good truth, and a good reading level for the kids to read on their own. :)

    How do you see what books are going to be recommended for the different cycles/forms? I’m very interested in their curriculum but I can’t find information like sneak peek inside the curriculum or the booklists or anything to feel like I can get a good idea of whether we’d like it or not.

    Can you talk about the AGF science? Did you use it for all forms? What do you think about it academically?

    • @JoyfulNoiseLiving
      @JoyfulNoiseLiving  Před rokem

      I didn't use much of the AGF science. My kids were not thrilled about the human body books. We ended up doing lots of nature walks, reading books at the library on whatever topic my kids were interested in at the time (I still do this). I did do a few lessons/books from Beautiful Feet Books for the famous scientists unit. AGF uses a living books approach, so I believe academically it is just fine, but if you are looking for a more traditional approach, then I recommend Apologia :)

  • @BlessingsatHome

    I was torn between A Gentle Feast and Simply Charlotte Mason for history and I ended up going with SCM. I am pretty excited to get started, I loved the morning time idea of AGF but I'm actually piecing my own together, I just wish I had it all scheduled out like AGF. Something I need to sit down and organize. I went with SCM because I had heard that with all the different streams of history like American, British and ancient (once they are old enough ) it can get a little overwhelming so I figured we would try SCM first and see how we like it.Enjoy your reviews and videos, thanks :)

      @JoyfulNoiseLiving  Před 2 lety

      Thanks! I'm glad you made a decision to fit your family :) I consider SCM so many times, but never made the plunge with them. I heard there stuff is great!! I hope you have a great year :)
