    I love how Charlotte Mason this actually is. I'm always a bit wary when I hear Charlotte Mason curriculum because it's usually just some vague wording about living books. It's kind of like Montessori--people just use the term because it's a buzz word with out a real understanding of how it works. This looks really good with solid CM principles! 👏👏💕💕

  • @countrywisheshomeschool

    Great video! We are using A Gentle Feast Cycle 2 this year!

    This looks REALLY intriguing!! I love that there are morning time plans! We also do what we call a “quarterly celebration” where I have the kids show off something to their grandparents and dad. They’ve done presentations and shown art etc. I love it!

    Thanks for cycle 3 flip through! We are using cycle 1 this year, our first time using A Gentle Feast. I really liked how the history was set up how Charlotte Mason encouraged- learning about your own country before adding in world and ancient history when older. I look forward to hearing about how you like it!

      Wonderful! Yes, I think that's interesting too, how CM encouraged the study of your own country first. It makes sense. :)

    I have been on the fence about getting this for our 22/23 school year but this is the flip through I needed to seal the deal! 😊

    I was so excited to see this pop up in my feed today! I'm already starting to consider curriculum for the 2022-2023 school year (crazy I know 🤪) and this one is at the top of my list! I'm curious about the Language Arts packet...we've been using The Good & The Beautiful and will hopefully have completed Level 1, how do you think that compares with A Gentle Feast? How did you determine which packet would be best for your child?

    • @JoyfulNoiseLiving
      @JoyfulNoiseLiving  Před 3 lety +2

      GREAT question! I have wondered this myself. (And I don't think you're crazy about looking for the next NEXT year, lol! I do that all the time. I actually had decided on A Gentle Feast LAST year for this year!) The Language Arts packet is actually a LOT like TGTB. It is more simple and straight forward. I actually like it better so far. But it included copy work, spelling, dictation, grammar, and composition (short writing prompts). As far as what level, you go with what you think your child will fit best at what there currently capable of. Form 1 fist most 1st-3rd graders and Form 2 is most 4th-6th graders. You can also move kids around forms to work with the whole family. I decided to do both my boys in Form 1 this year, and my oldest in Form 2.

  • @RockSimmer-gal4God
    @RockSimmer-gal4God Před 3 lety

    We have older kids but they are in lower levels for language arts. We already do the approach of using words that my kids struggle with as spelling words!!! We adapt Curriculum!!!

    @KellyQ123 Před 2 lety

    This looks great and I’m definitely interested for next year. Could you give me a rough estimate on what all the books you need for the program cost? Did you buy all of them or are you utilizing the library? Thanks!

    • @JoyfulNoiseLiving
      @JoyfulNoiseLiving  Před 2 lety +1

      Thanks for asking! I bought a few books that I knew we would use throughout the year (a couple read alouds, a couple history readers, and geography), but I MOSTLY use the library and I had a few of the books on had already. So I spent about $80 on the books I wanted to purchase.

    I was very curious to see the insides of this and how it actually worked.

  • @thethriceblessednest7165

    I have a upcoming 1st grader (or form 1B) and a pre-k kiddo. I’m torn on what to use. I love the look of the playful pioneers, but I’m also tempted to do a gentle feast because I could something that’s alllll laid out for me lol. Between the two, do you have one you prefer over the other? Did the playful pioneers feel like enough?

    • @JoyfulNoiseLiving
      @JoyfulNoiseLiving  Před 2 lety

      I'm sorry I forgot to respond to this! That is a great question! I say if you have littles, I would do Playful Pioneers first. I think AGF is better utilized when you have older and younger kids. :) If you just have younger, I like Playful Pioneers better :) And with Playful Pioneers it's all laid out for you too! (Here's secret, I'm doing the Kind Kingdom next year, actually. I missed the activities that Peaceful Press includes).

  • @sunnywarren8027
    @sunnywarren8027 Před 2 lety +1

    Question: is this the entire language arts program? No learning about nouns verbs etc? Also, for first grade are they supposed to know how to write or read in cursive?

    • @JoyfulNoiseLiving
      @JoyfulNoiseLiving  Před 2 lety

      They have a print OR cursive option for the packets. I chose cursive for my 3rd Grader so he could learn to read and write cursive, but my 1st Grader would use the print version until 3rd Grade.
      And there are grammar lessons included! Nouns, verbs, pronouns, etc. just once a week. And you are able to talk about those parts of speech and other thing with their copy work. And in the Charlotte Mason style, she recommends that you don’t start grammar lessons until 5th or 6th Grade, so these are just gentle lessons for Form 1. (1st- 3rd Grade)

    Can anyone who uses answer- Would you say you must use the language arts portion or can you substitute?

    • @mommadonna103
      @mommadonna103 Před rokem +1

      You don't have to use AGF's language arts at all. We use AGF for our form 3 student and something else for our form 2 students. It is easy to do.

  • @petagayejolly7577
    @petagayejolly7577 Před 3 lety

    Does ‘a gentle feast’ cover US history only, or do they have a world history program as well?

    • @JoyfulNoiseLiving
      @JoyfulNoiseLiving  Před 3 lety

      World History is included!! Every year you do a portion of US History time period along with another portion of ancient history and middle age history. So you don’t just focus on ONE time period every year. US History is the main part, but there’s always world history readings included as well. Charlotte Mason’s philosophy was for students to focus on and start with their own country’s history. P.S. It’s not a Nationalism thing, it’s helping kids understand where they are locally living.

    Would you mind if I ask about how much a person can expect to spend on the booklist? So hard to budget and know if I can do it when they don't provide a booklist before buying.....

    • @JoyfulNoiseLiving
      @JoyfulNoiseLiving  Před 10 měsíci

      Well, if you purchase the full curriculum, it's $50. You can see the Booklist before you purchase!! It's kind of hard to find. I'll share a link: agentlefeast.com/select-a-cycle/ref/256

      @JoyfulNoiseLiving ah! Thank you! I looked all over for this and couldn't find it and every review said I had to purchase it first!
      I'm thinking they must have raised the price, because I'm seeing $97 just to buy the base curriculum without the planner.... 😭
      Thanks again for the booklist! So helpful!

  • @chelseaann404
    @chelseaann404 Před 2 lety

    Since you are doing 3 forms will you be teaching all subjects separately and not family style?

    • @JoyfulNoiseLiving
      @JoyfulNoiseLiving  Před 2 lety +1

      Great question! I do Morning Time Family style... so Bible, and beauty loop together. I also do Foreign Language and Read Alouds together. Then my Form 2 does the rest on her own, and I group my Form 1 boys together for some of their other subjects, like geography and some of their history readers and some math.
