I have the exact same dude at my school. He loves this thing with Bluetooth. He also uses flipper to lower the curtains. One day he lowered them from the outside. Later turned out that someone was inside and freaked out (the whole room went dark)
So yeah..
If a flipper zero can do that, then there is something severely wrong with the automation of that building.

@@4bafiafzil999 Some of the BLE spam devices will also popup if you don't have Bluetooth enabled at all. Like the "Configure your new iPhone" screen doesn't need Bluetooth to be (visually) enabled.

@@Lasourriedisgoustieturning off the bluetooth from the control center doesn’t turn off the bluetooth radio, it only disconnects devices. Apple watches for example will remain connected when bluetooth is disabled in this way. Turning off bluetooth inside the settings app works as that entirely disables the radio

Apple depends on your phone for their Find My network. Also, they would have access to different beacons.

The flipper zero is serving it’s purpose as an ethical testing device. If actual bad people discovered the bug without showing it, it would not be patched.

That just disables new connections from being approved, but doesn’t turn off Bluetooth completely.
Edit: yes, it disconnects any connected devices with a few exceptions like an Apple Watch, but the kind of broadcasts that the Flipper Zero is sending copy legitimate Apple accessory signals, which are approved no matter your Bluetooth status. Only if you turn off Bluetooth from the settings will it not connect at all to anything, including receiving Flipper Zero’s fake broadcasts.

@@tdrg_I think that it disconnects all devices except for Apple Watch and Apple Pencil. Which for those with Wi-Fi Apple Watches, it would still let their watch function properly.

If you turn off the Bluetooth completly in settings, it fixes the problem and you don’t even get this annoying message

I can't find it on the play store
it was not the "overload" or "dos" that caused the crash, it was an oversight in how some malformed bluetooth packets were handled, it couldve crashed with just one packet if the right conditions were met, via a kernel panic. but yes, its been patched in 17.2

I just started a job at a repair shop, and they had a completely unused PRG repair mat that they gave to me :D
Here’s a useful tip for iPhone users: make a shortcut which turns OFF bluetooth and WiFi from the shortcuts app and put it on the homescreen.
You can also do this by using an Android phone, no flipper-like device needed.
It's also possible by using an App in Android

Never had this issue with my s22 ultra and ive tried it. It wont show up bc my phone knows its spoofed
it should just only allow like 2 popups every minute and if more show up it could have a prompt like saying "You seem to be having trouble setting up" or something with the option to 'Not my devices, Disable Bluetooth' or like 'These are my devices, open support page'
Pro tip, hold power button plus valume up, turns phone off, preventing anymore of those 👍

The only way you can prevent this from happening is about turning off nearby device scanning

Just prevents the phone crashing, not the spamming.
You have to go into the settings and turn it off. The bug was in the cc. When you turned bluetooth off in cc it never actually turned it off for some odd reason but it showed it was off. You can fix it by going into the settings and physically turning the bluetooth off that way. Some other people have addressed this.

Turn off BT in the actual settings and it won’t happen. Not exactly a long term solution, but it does work. The pull down menu does NOT (for whatever reason).

They fixed this crashing issue that has been a known issue for years, the flipper zero simply exposed that issue.
So they fixed it by not fixing anything
when I did this my friend's phone still crashed even after the patch but all my other friends iPhone with the same models didn't crash

You can also just hit the power button? If you don’t turn it back on, the pop ups won’t appear. Just keep it off until you get out of the area

I personally think that the existence of devices such as the Flipper Zero is a great thing.
They really help to give us and big companies a kick in the butt by showing how vulnerable we are. And if it got Apple's attention, it means that it worked!

Turning off Bluetooth via the control center does not actually disable it. You need to navigate to the settings and turn it off there.
If you actually press connect, you will have all the devices in the world lol
