- Wrexham have been the talk of non-league football since their financial takeover by Hollywood's Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney, and with their recent promotion back into the Football League, many are now wondering just how far they can go.

They had a very simple approach. Hired people who knew what they were doing. Prioritised getting the best available manager and best available striker.
Realised the best way to cover as many losses as possible was though creating a documentary which also boosts the exposure of the club which also attracts a better standard of player.
It's a genius approach I'm just hoping Will Ferrell and Paul Rudd buy my Cardiff City and do the same.
Would be proud to be owned by Ron Burgundy and Brian Fantana
I could see Rob and Ryan selling off pieces of the club to their friends as the team moves up the leagues, raising money, profile, and spreading out the costs especially if they get to League One and higher. Think about having Will Ferrell, Paul Rudd, Hugh Jackman, and others as partial owners and investors in the club. It would be a way to keep the profile up in the years to come once this first blush of stardom for the team begins to fade.
Will Ferrell has some ownership with LAFC in the MLS already, he was one of the main faces like how Rob and Ryan are at Wrexham...so idk if he would want to buy another club
@@Bringbacon1805 yeah... It's a joke dude. But if it comes true I will claim to be psychic
@@A-small-amount-of-peasdid I type offended? hahaha I'm not offended hahaha
but yup psychic for sure
I think that the biggest danger is expectation. The problem with this Kieran Maguire's analysis is that he focuses squarely on Wrexham attracting fans to the matches purely from the local area. North Wales doesn't have another professional team and with them now being a 90 minute drive from most of this part of the world, as opposed to the 3-4 hour drive in the 70s, the last time they had a decent team, there is scope for the club to become the regional flag bearer. If they can tap into that and get the success they're aiming for then that fan base will remain even if the owners decide to sell. But they need to get there first.
Liverpool is the de facto capital of North Wales and a large proportion of the population are retired Merseysiders, Wrexham will fade into irrelevance as soon as the Hollywood circus leaves town.
Congratulations to them. They should be quite the watch as time goes on.
Ryan just sold Mint Mobile for 1.35 billion dollars, taking in a reported 300 million. I believe this as an indication that he will have more investment in the club, and the spending will go accordingly.
Hopefully as they keep winning, they donât need to worry more about the outside revenue streams.
The lease contract for Racecourse ground was set to 25 years so they are in it for the long haul
Yes plus he needs the money for his future purchase (minority partner) of the Ottawa Senators in the National Hockey League. Cost will be around $1B plus the construction cost of a new arena.
Yeah the Tik Tok has to go

I really hope they stick around, i didn't knew anything about this club till this season but i really love watching what's happening there now. It's like a real life Ted Lasso.

Comparing Wrexham and Salford is a bit bizarre. Historically Wrexham have predominently a third tier club, have made the quarter finals of a European competition and the redevolped Cae Ras will host internationals, albeit friendlies.
This is a club with a massive history (record number of Welsh Cup wins) and has always had a fan base. Vastly different to Salford.
I think they can get to league one. Not next year, asking for back to back promotions might be a bit much, but i think that might kind of be where the level is at, based on stadium capacity and how costly the championship is. Clubs in the upper end of the championship pushing for promotion to the prem spend tens of millions. League one would be amazing and if they made it to the championship, that would be lovely given their history of 2nd division football in the 80s.
Look at stock port fc they can get promoted this year.......and they won the national league last season
Wrexham probably has high chances of geting promotion back to back, they have strong squad and if they add someone to it or if just Foster accepts to continue with them. National league is quite hard to get out of with only 1 automatic promotion while from EFL league 2 there is top 3 who gets promoted and Wrexham's squad rn defo could go top 3.
@@legitrandom5924 yep fully agree, I think league 1 is when they will start to need outside investment, obviously Rob and Ryan are rich but not rich enough for the top tiers of English football, I think theyâll get back to back promotions and be in Ligue 1 until they get more invested then continue to rise. As far as the Premier League best case scenario 10+ years with excellent investment, recruitment, expansion, ext. But it could very easily be longer than that, although I think it will happen at some point.
Ill come back after the end of the season. They are doing well so far
I don't think Premier League is an impossible dream. Yeah, it's a lot of investment, and it would take time, but that also means a lot of revenues if they continue growing the Wrexham brand to get more deals. Being very optimistic, we are talking about a 10 years journey, and that's enough time to solidify a strong following base and find ways to make the club more sustainable based on those new revenue streams beyond the initial funding. Ryan has proven to be a smart business man.
Congratulations to Wrexham afc to their fans and to their owners. I see the usual financial buzzards have started circling already. Making predictions on what should happen next based on a short term scalping solution, this is not the long term plan of any football or sports club. In fact if these plans were implemented the old story that dragged Wrexham down in the first place would happen again. Instead of which, these 2 guys have bought the club, used their significant financial and social media clout and fulfilled their first promise, watch other clubs now find the same backing to help them. It can only help all the leagues.
From a bromley fan, this is massive! Love this work and a big fan of the editing. Keep it coming
if the two owner stick around then we may see them getting to EPL in next 10 years. They need 3 promotions which all would be incredibly difficult. The exposure obviously served them well but when you get to league 2 , its some serious competition every week
Definitely possible, you only have to look at modest clubs like Bournemouth and Brentford, to see it's achievable.
@@Inglese001 absolutely and we saw how Wrexham put up an amazing performance in FA cup. Next year in league 2 , weâll get a feel how they can keep up with competition. Aside from notts county , they didnât have any competition in national league. I expect them to make big signings and itâs possible to see them get promoted right away to league 1. Letâs wait and see! Itâs an exciting team to watch
Towards the end of last nights game (when they won promotion) I was listening on the BBC website, and there was 148k watching/listening. Thats Premier league/Champions league numbers, quite staggering really.
Yea its good for the community too..but i think in the future their just a regular club..you cant compete with arab money or big cultural club at premier league stages..
a lesson for all the owners of futbol teams in the world. don't steal from the team and things will be better
The task ahead is to keep the team together...I think Paul Mullins is probably one of the best pure strikers in the world right now, but Wrexham is a team story...yes they have his ridiculous talent...but I think it is more his attitude..his class and humility...the team flourished because of him but he flourished because of the team...
They have to do everything in their power to keep the team together...and if they do...I have no doubts they will be promoted next season again
Agreed completely on every point you made. I'm a new fan from the States courtesy of the documentary, and I've been bitten by the bug. Mullin and the team feed off each other in the best possible way, and his connection with the town is deeply felt by the fans. Love it!
Notts County coming up with ya Wrexham, tbf I do think we kinda need eachother we'd both would've won national league easily, and we both need to kick eachother up the arse to get the teams to work hard, but it was a fun season hope we go up to league 2 COYP â«âȘđ„
amazing editing, and great video overall; well done
Seem to overlook the fact Wrexhams catchment area is the whole of North and Mid Wales. That was the attraction in buying it. The town maybe poor, but North and Mid Wales is a tourist Hotspot full of wealthy bored people.
This is one of the best takes I have seen on this. But there is precedent with Ryan in his other companies. He sold his stakes in Mint Mobile and Aviation Gin for hundreds of millions, but he agreed to stay a spokesperson and use his Maximum Effort marketing company as the face of both. I cannot see him selling all his full stake like those 2 examples since he really seems to love the team and community (as we all do now from around the world) but he is already working with the Ottawa Senators and a group of real estate developers to purchase them with a small stake but with the intention of doing a similar documentary.
He will sell after 4-5 years but by then the stadium will be much better. The town, the team, revenue and sponsors will make it self sufficient to an extend. And he will sell to richer owners.
I think everyone should not forget the alternative reality we where facing before they bought us, if every âExpert â gets it right and they do sell, they sell a better team, ground and fan base that every teams fans seek, I for one am grateful they picked us and Iâm betting all the haters would love to be in our shoes coyr đŽó §ó ąó ·ó Źó łó żđ
Dude Ryan Reynolds sold his stake in mint and aviation gin got purchased, the dude literally worth over half a billion
When Wrexham build that stand they'll have about the same capacity as Bournemouth f.c. and they are prem great support, well done promotion was thoroughly deserved.
Signing some one like ben foster with a versatile portfolio and a very professional CV was a great move too.
I also think their wage bill might not increase as much. Would you rather be an average Championship player, easily forgotten or ignored in a team no one cares about or you could become a legend in Wrexham with fans around the world. Today Mullin is one of the most famous and loved players in the world, had he stayed at Cambridge only the most diehard fans would know who is.
Some players care more about legacy than playing in the highest tiers of the sport. Transferring to Wrexham will no longer be seen as a step backwards in a career so they wouldn't need to be excessively for it.
i even have no doubt the players get social media training and how to use that exposer in a positive way, see mullin he started his own charity for autistic children, heck he even got that irish boxer in, without his current club this would not had happened.
Well done Wrexham and wishing you guys the very best of luck on your journey to the top. From a Glasgow Rangers fan. đđ
As a fan of a team in the league Wrexham have been promoted to, itâs the hope that can kill in this league. They can do it, quite easily, but you should never underestimate 2s competitiveness. Swindon, Bradford and Wimbledon have been stuck down there for years and they were premier league teams once. I donât think it will be as easy as people think it will for them, but they are certainly favourites going into next season for autos
Look at what Bournemouth achieved with little money, a tiny stadium and small population dwarfed by nearby Southampton. Wrexham will no difficulty in attracting sponsorship money, their stadium with the rebuilding of the kop will be larger than that of Bournemouth and being the single club in North Wales gives them a larger fan catchment area than Bournemouth.
Well done Wrexham from a chesterfield fan
Ryan and rob out there doing fifa career mode irl. Can't wait to see them in premier league!
They will need to get savior with transfers, atm they are buying already established quality players and paying above market value they can do that in national league and probably league 2 but later on they won't be able to do that at a higher level.
They will need a good academy which they haven't got now.
The other problem is they seem like best friends with the manager and players it will be hard for then to sack Parkinson when the time comes
What a fun season, can't wait for the next one!
As an American it's wild to me to see ppl bash Rob & Ryan and how Wrexham is going on about this when every time I hear about English Football and the apprt throughout Europe and Africa everyone mentions corrupt governments and huge corporation, the Saudis, etc. But when it's a couple of guys trying to help a town and support ppl who kept their local team running just barely, then suddenly they're too big for their breaches and getting overrated.
I actually support Wrexham since
Liverpool are going fine
If they were to sell them once in the Premier league I still reckon Tiktok would keep them as sponsors. Big money up there.
Good luck in.league 2 and welcome back congratulations đ from a Brighton fan ..from goldstone and withdean era đ
Congratulations on your promotionđ
Love seeing this, big grats the wrexham and the fans!!!! So happy for this!!
No mention of TV money which is a big part of every teams finance. Championship teams receive 4.5 million pounds, League One 700,000 pounds and League Two teams 470,000 pounds. The phenomenal world wide viewing of Wrexham will enhance the kitty available, changes to the percentage sharing of the kitty per division may need to be adjusted if viewing figures for Wrexham are outstripping Premiership clubs.
Your owners are great but how about a mention or 2 for how good your manager has been because Notts were putting you under strain.
My man Ryan playing FIFA Manager create a club in real life
I really hope one day theyâll get promoted to the PL
The two Hollywood actor owners, then add a successful Disney TV show and Tiktok sponsorship = this is new levels already. The revenue they raise through these three attributes alone will stabilise them as they rise. If they go to league 1 tell me how Burton Albion or Cheltenham compete against that. Championship how Rotherham or PNE compete and then the Prem how Bournemouth or Palace compete against it as it gets bigger and more popular worldwide? Could be a genius move from these guys or go tits up. Seeming more like the former than the latter with already a WW audience before entering the league. Impressive
Congratulations from an Arsenal Fan , hopefully see yous in the Premier League in the near future
This will be the team to watch for the next decade congratulations to wrexham all of the states is behind you!!!
đ I need Salford to stay in league 2 next season 23/24. I wanna see Gary Giggs at the grandstand with Ryan Rob battling out with their athletes money and Hollywood money.
Brilliant đ
They can be a solid league one club but even surviving in the championship would be tough with most clubs bankrupting themselves to get in the premier league.
I don't think the issue is where the club is located because the fan culture in brittain is amazing and if in the next 10-15 years the club gets into the prem they'll attrack a great amount of local fans becuase you love to see your local club do so well and be so well put together, I think they will have a bit of an issue with paying the high wages now but when the club gets to the higher leagues and has the bigger ground they'll be just fine because of the fan culture in wales/england, I don't see them being another mk dons where so much money is put in but no one is supporting the club
Congratulations Wrexham from a West Ham fan.
No one is fooled into thinking this is going to be easy or fast. The Americans full well understand the way sports teams rise and fall and rise again. It's not cheap, for anyone involved, community included, and the talk of future sales of the whole or portions only shows you thinking of MONEY ONLY. Sometimes, it's not about money, try to remember that, just because you have been hosed in the past doesn't mean you are gonna get hosed this time around. Have some faith.
You make very valid points. Ryan Reynolds always seems to sell his assets at the top. So when might he feel that in regards to Wrexham? This could leave Wrexham in a very precarious position, so I do worry.
I don't think the owners treat this as a business to be flipped. RR has made numerous statements saying that this is a long term-project, and I think they're both wise enough to realize this is about people and about community, not just about selling it for more than you paid for it.
If that were to happen, that "precarious position" is gonna be way way better than the awful position in which they were 2 years ago .
So , when they sells the team, if everyone in that city don't know what to do and keep all the success, then it's on them đđ»ââïž
As was pointed out in this video, the value of the club is linked to its owners. I think they are in for the long haul, particularly as they would find it difficult to sell the club for a good price, unless it is bought by other celebrities with the same universal appeal, but that is unlikely. They wouldn't want to sell it for a song given the amount of their own money they will have pumped into the club after the initial purchase. The Welcome to Wrexham series generates good money and will continue for a few years, but will no doubt have a used by date. The money they will invest into improving the capacity and quality of the Racecourse ground alone (will be an ongoing project beyond the replacement of the Kop stand) will be very considerable. The investment in new players to help climb the football pyramid will also add up to plenty over the years. If they ever reach Championship level they will have done very well, but that is a seriously expensive league to play in by international standards.
@@gustaaf1892 I agree, the Glasers just ran Man Utd into the ground, and stopped investing. In America because teams do not go up and down a division they make a lot of money, no matter how good or bad their teams are Whereas in the UK being in certain divisions means a lot in bringing money to your club. Obviously as they go higher and higher, money will become a bigger issue and they may bail out then, or gather a consortium of celebrities to own Wrexham (heres hoping they choose the consortium option).
The owner of Aviation gin is the same person as the co-owner of the football club Ryan Reynolds, so of course, the gin would sponsor the club.
They have a larger and more passionate fanbase than Bournemouth. So Iâm not concerned for Wrexham.
I also have a feeling that R&R would make sure that whoever they eventually sold the club to, would be a responsible and suitable owner. I highly doubt theyâd cut and run and leave the club in the lurch.
So if and when the owners do leave, I think the club has a bright future ahead.
There aren't that many good to great owners of clubs the further you go up the food chain. For their sake i hope Wrexham does well in the upcoming seasons and R&R stick with you guys through thick and thin (this will be the acid test as things wont get easier...)
the owners are too famous and have an image to hold up , its the USA !!! they will not leave it like old junk, they will leave a solid healthy club.
Well done Wrexham from someone who doesn't even follow soccer but you grabbed my attention.

@@peterang6912 since you are being so critical regarding my intended positive comment, next time I'll leave a negative one for you. You say Football, I say Soccer and I think since the team is owned by 2 Americans, Soccer is an option. Get over yourself!

Huge sponsorship deals. Selling out every single home game. A show on Hulu and Disney+. Dedicated owners. There's no reason Wrexham can't make it to, at least, the Championship league within the next 5 years.
So can Wrexan get into the Premier League on day?
What other teams are in their next spell?
These are the questions I came for...
They could get promoted to the Premier League but they have to be promoted another 3 times to do that.
It's not quite clear yet who they will play next season as the season is ongoing and it's not confirmed yet which teams will be promoted / relegated from the league.
Absolutely fantastic result and a fantastic season see you up there soon Joe, Sheffield United.
Do they have a youth academy? think it would massively help them in the future. obviously..

To put things into context. The average national league player will earn 1000 bucks a week. Wrexham attract the best players from league 1 & 2 and pay them up to 5000 bucks a week. They should be absolutely winning every week
How to become a millionaire owner of a football club? Easy, start out as a billionaire.
Youâd think we hadnât already suffered a setback watching this tosh! If they were going to bail after problems, theyâd have done so before now. And do you actually understand (or care) what these owners are bringing to the football club and to the town? If youâre going to jump on the Wrexham bandwagon at least get your facts straight. Some of the laziest reporting by a so-called journalist with click bait of the worst order!
Cymru am byth
Unfortunately even the worst teams in the premier league are owned by multi billionaires, unless you're owned by people with that money it isn't happening
A new buyer would keep them both in. It will help the billionair that buys a share. Cause most owners dont go to games. So its a comfortable place for a billionair.
It's not going to end well for Wrexham.
