Liv Truss will be the best thing that has happened to the Labour Party in recent times
You know, I honestly wouldn't be surprised if Truss was a double agent that was working with Labour to destroy the Tories from the inside out and, if that is what she is, then she's done a cracking job.
@@Kaltagstar96 She never stopped being a republican, remainer, libdem. First she came for the queen, now shes come for the Tories majority, next up she will bring us back into the EU. The ultimate double agent.
@@Kaltagstar96 it’s a lovely thought experiment, but far better than the one we’ve endured the past month!
@@IdeologieUK I mean, honestly? If it was revealed that that was the truth, I imagine that would harm Labour's reputation as much at the Tories?
@@Kaltagstar96 The problem is that Starmer is a double agent for the Tories! Both parties led by people desperately trying not to win.
Can't wait to see the lengths they have to go to out-do each other in terms of terribleness.
It’s so nice to hear Marr be able to openly express viewpoints and not be constrained by neutrality. He must be loving it.
Constrained by neutrality? When was that?

The only decent and respectable action Truss can do is to resign immediately. Sacking the man that carried out what they jointly believed in and then trying to cling on to power is the worst leadership decision I’ve ever seen.
En effet il pourrait bizarre quand-même! Ahh

@@TORY-BLUE She wasn't the one who organised this energy allowance. It was done by Sunak when he was chancellor - all she is doing is following througfh on a promise made by BJ/Sunak. She has no choice - it's definitely not something she can backtrack on. Although Sunak was also prepared to levy a windfall tax on energy companies too - which she ignored. Now look at the mess we're in.

I swear each PM becomes more incompetent after their predecessor…it’s rather impressive tbf
As Andrew marr said, as far as the mini budget is concerned Kwarteng and Truss were joined at the hip. He merely enacted the policy that both she and him agreed upon. That being the case I really don't understand how when it all goes wrong she gets to sack him and then immediately say that she is sorry to see him go. This was her policy as much as his and if he needs to be fired for it then so does she.
Typical politician
This is exactly why the public has absolutely zero trust anymore in any of these corrupt wealthy people

I am so pleased this guy is no longer being gagged by the BBC - he is such an original thinker - I am relieved we can actually hear what he thinks now and not what he was being made to say by the BBC - great work Andrew
They have to try to be neutral.
They are not ITV or Channel 4.
Marr has always hated...yes, hated the Conservative party as does all of the LBC broadcasters.
Listen elsewhere, you'll get a slightly different take
Marr is Establishment.
Yes, at bbc he was useless and I thought it was him, I gave different opinion now.
You can tell he's loving being able to say what he thinks freely.
She'll end up blaming everyone other than taking the blame herself, not forgetting she was responsible for the appointment of cabinet members and there is NO question she'll end up throwing them all under the bus sooner or later.
The ex chancellor carried out her instructions regarding the mini budget, which at the time she was only to willing to take the kudos and look what happened when it all fell apart, "a chancellor sent to the gallows" for her f**k-ups. I'm a 13 year old student who wouldn't trust her regardless of how many times she states "I WANT TO BE HONEST" the truth is she doesn't know what honesty is, her recent actions prove this.
David, it's an interesting comment isn't it .. 'I want to be honest' ...i think that may be what's known as a Freudian slip ?
You'd probably do a better job at 13 than she's doing, and I'm not even joking
@@petergarner1971 very mature comment considering you're 13! Completely agreed too.
This 13 year old for PM
Well said
The whole situation can be summed up like this; if my seven year old daughter understands that she needs to show how she arrived at the answers she gives to her teachers in maths at school, but Liz Truss didn’t think the markets would expect the same of her budget in government, then she needs to go, because she hasn’t even got the brains of a child.
But most of us could see that at those hustings. It was the wealthy (politicians and donors) who got her in because of her promise of tax cuts. Those tax cuts would never benefit low earners, it was purposely to make the wealthy, wealthier.
This should have been down to the public to vote on, she would never have got in in the first place if it had.
@@sparrow_6177 And furthermore to what you say, I believe the absence of sanctioned oligarch’s money for Conservative Party funding exacerbated that. They had no Russian blood money to turn to, so they tried to roll the dice with these tax cuts to the top earners and corporations to secure *their* future, not the country’s. They simply would have been starved of cash.
Bye bye Liz! The lettuce won! 🥳🥳
Honestly a general election would be the best thing!
Yes, but still only two party's. Labour and Conservative. Not enough choice, still same stale old cheese.

With a nice pension
- Former Prime Ministers are entitled to a pension based on half of their annual salary at the time of leaving office
- They can also obtain a Public Duties Cost Allowance, which allows them to 'meet the continuing additional costs because of their special position in public life'. This is not obtainable if they are the Leader of the Opposition. The limit is currently set at a maximum of £115,000.
Oh please let her get sacked over the weekend...please, please.
As PM she can't be sacked, only resign and thats very unlikely.
Or get her in a pimp's sack, to get her more efficient and productive
Could be. I wouldn't be surprised if she was gone by breakfast on Monday.
BRING BORIS BACK !!!
Charles could force her out
The economic pain of all this hasn’t arrived yet - just wait a few weeks until the amended mortgage payment letters are sent out…..if they still stick with her, the Tories will cease to exist after the next election - we could even see social unrest and disobedience.
The trouble is, even when Truss goes, things can still get a lot worse, just look at the Tories on the front bench, not one of them is fit to run the country.

I knew he was going to be sacked...once i heard "I will be chancellor, 100%" --- I knew his time was done. Liz Truss won't last long too, it's only a matter of when now because as someone once said : “As we've seen at Westminster, the herd instinct is powerful. When the herd moves, it moves,”
I said right from the start that she wouldn't last.
Interesting is Truss has one thing in common with the recently dumped disaster of a PM in Australia. Scott Morrison would harp on growth, growth, tax cuts, tax cuts ad naseum and never answer the question just regurgitate the growth tax cut mantra. Morrison increased Australia's debt to a record level and big tax cuts for wealthy. In the recent election they were out in a landslide. The whole thing smells of Linton Crosby who is close to both the Tories and the Australian LNP.

As an American, I have found the Parliamentary system interesting and thought it had some advantages. However, if Liz Truss goes, there will be a fifth Prime Minister in seven years. A government cannot effectively govern a country with such turnover.
well, how much better it is in a country that is constantly paralysed by extreme bipartisanship and midterms effectively turning every president's administration into a minority government? parliamentary system has it's cons but on the whole, usually allows to actually deliver on policy goals as the government actually comes from and is in control of the legislature. of course it's best form is actually proportionate representation which is not the case in UK but that has it's own set of disadvantages again

It is only a small minority of people who vote Tory, thick people mostly. Our democracy is not a democracy at all.
I think it's because like America and MOST western democracies, England has no "compulsory voting" ... therefore only the "interested" vote. Which means minority voting rules the day. They only have themselves to blame, which they (the silent majority = sheep) don't of course. If you don't vote physically then you have actually voted - you've voted for whatever the others have chosen for you.
The reason a lot of people have voted tory in past is that the alternative has looked more scary.
Truss is now toast. Even her backers (the tory elite) have given up on her. When she realises this, she will resign, or be pushed out the window.
Hopefully the latter🙏

It's not just Truss, or Johnson, or May. The problem lies with the party in office.
