She rants against an alleged “Anti-growth Coalition”, a week or so after she instigated an overnight crash of the UK economy. So she’s actually leading this Anti-growth Coalition.

And don't forget, they are the party of Brexit, which was a masterstroke of anti-growth engineering.
She's gone full far right - don't fight actual threats, don't acknowledge genuine emergencies, don't do anything useful, just invent enemies, create a reality where they are a credible threat and then wage war on them with real people being collateral damage.
NOBODY will believe such an abysmal speech, with its myriad of vague targets who could be anybody really.. Including Mr James O'Brien. 😏

I remember a Trump speech in which he said “we all hate political correctness, right.”
He then basically lumped in anything he disagreed with as “politically correct” and the crowd mooed along. This is that. It is calling anyone that disagrees with them “anti-growth” which is a baseless catchall to divide.

It is no secret anymore that Trump/Republican advisors have been working in British politics since at least 2016, with the Conservatives. The sea change in British politics is black and white it is un-British, immoral, call it what you will. Something that I have never seen in my 42 years and never expected to see in his country of 'fair play' (yeah, I actually kind of thought we still had a sense of that compassion....not anymore). You might think women's rights/abortion rights were solid in the UK but I feel anything is now under threat by these vile populist thugs. You have to ask yourself....well, no, we have ask them: what is your end goal, what does this country look like in your end goal scenario (if indeed there is an end goal or just a prolonged torture for the sake of power)? I suspect their truthful answers would be extremely dark.

Wouldn't it be quicker at this point to list everybody that isn't a part of her imagined "anti-growth coalition" because she seems to include everybody that isn't still a conservative. I also note that everybody on her list has better ideas for the nation than her and actually want to improve their country.
As a proud member of a "militant trade union" that is currently in a dispute with my employer and undergoing strike action, I'll be proudly wearing an "anti-growth coalition" t-shirt to all the picket lines I'll be participating in.

I just did a quick google for the meaning of militant: "favouring confrontational or violent methods in support of a political or social cause."
Now I'm not expert but last I checked striking isn't confrontational nor violent?
Where as her government wants to silence protests by force, that sounds confrontational to me, maybe even violent.

I work in mental health and the last decade has been horrifying, more and more people left without support, trying to survive in poverty, and unable to access the care they need because our services have been stripped to the bone.
I've been thinking about leaving for a while, I feel burnt out and desperately sad for the people I can't help (because our team is too small, or they need economic help too, a roof over their head etc) but I don't feel like I can abandon my clients, and I know for a fact that I won't be replaced as they are trying to downsize our team, which will just make things even worse for the community we serve.
It's insane to me that children go hungry in this country, and that we effectively punish and blame people for being disabled or unwell or poor.
It's inhumane. I can't wrap my head around it.
Brexit deniers, I think she is talking about the majority, people who don't see any benefits from Brexit. What she doesn't say out loud is that these benefits are for the few who stash their cash in tax havens, paying nothing to the growth of our economy.

I lost the ability to do legible joined up handwriting not long after I left school. I can't remember the last time I wrote anything other than notes for myself, and even then they were in capitals. Everything gets typed, and has done for decades.

Don't get caught up talking about growth and anti-growth. You're allowing her to set the frame. Just like immigration or the EU.
The thing to keep talking about is why people earning £1000/hr dedicate so much time money and energy convincing people earning £15/hour that their problems are due to people earning £10/hour. Clue, it's not because they're on the side of people earning £15/hour.
In any case, the biggest obstruction to growth in the UK is the fact that so much money is funnelled into lazy rent seeking instead of dynamic enterprise. The biggest drain on growing companies is not tax but rent and you'll never ever hear a Tory talk about cutting rents.

I’m part of the anti growth coalition. I’m currently taking industrial action in BT because we’ve been given a 4.5% pay rise but the CEO Philip Jansen has given himself a 32% rise, this takes his salary to 3.2 million. He has staff in call centres using food banks, he will not negotiate with the CWU.

I chuckled when Liz Truss was on the ballot as a potential candidate for Prime Minister, I howled with laughter when she was actually voted to be Prime Minister. But now I'm just in awe at the delusions this human possesses. I don't know if it's the ego boost from being pm, or if she's always been completely mad, but she's completely lost the plot. What's even more mental is that there are even a handful of people who actually believe she's actually able to run the country.

The clapping means nothing - they clapped for the NHS and care workers but it meant nothing. The biggest anti growth people are those
who are against us re joining the single market - growth would come with frictionless trade.
Again she just demonstrates she knows nothing about economics. The Tories’ core policy is fiscal responsibility, that’s removing fiscal stimulus and reduces growth. Labour’s core policy is increased spending which is fiscal stimulus and promotes growth. It’s like her attempt at trickle down, a proven failed policy. Now she gets it completely backwards on growth policies. Not to mention her party has already been in power for 13 years and growth has been poor because of their horrible policies like a hard brexit that has and will continue to reduce growth by 4 percentage points. It’s laughable.
It takes a far braver person to admit they got it wrong than it does to cower behind invented conspiracies and bogeymen. Truss shows zero sign of any bravery, just blank stupidity.
I liked the bit where she said she knew what it was like to live in areas with no growth. In the 80s and 90s. Who was in power then I wonder?

Townhouses were where rich people who lived mostly on countryside estates, lived when they were in London. They're mostly terraced houses. In North America townhouses is the word for terraced housing. Wikipedia says property developers are starting to use that word here. No idea why she's using that term though.

Yeah this 'North London' thing is a bizarre tabloid phenomenon which has emerged recently, it might be to do with the fact it includes Islington, Jeremy Corbyn's constituency.

Claim some strategy you want to happen e.g. "growth, growth, growth", refuse to be pinned down to any concrete plans on how you plan to achieve it, whenever anyone raises valid concerns ridicule them as naysayers and not "team players", and keep plowing ahead with ill conceived ideas refusing to admit the thing is failing. We used to describe it as "management by wishful thinking".
