Trickle down economics is like buying a meal for the richest person in the restaurant in the hope that you can lick the plate after they have finished eating.
And to be grateful!
You know nothing. This rich bashing attitude is exactly why the UK is going to become a developing country soon.
Very apt!
Before we get the supposed benefits of trickle down we have another crisis. Then the Tories reset the clock and say the rich must be be made richer for the rest to benefit later. And then along comes another crisis. Later never arrives,
Great analogy
"we're listening", "we've taken decisive action", "we're on the side of the people", "high wage jobs", "growth", "delivering a bold plan", its all government speak word salad.... If is looks like BS, smells like BS, sounds like BS its BS.
Don’t forget ‘increasing the size of the pie’. Also, why can’t she say wHat? Wot I want to see Wot ?
"On the side of people", the mini budget has jacked up mortgage rates for all. Billions of higher debt repayment on govt debt that taxpayers have to pay for.
@@debb6393 say wot
😂 Well said
And if Truss says ''I've been very clear', assume that she's been as imprecise and incompetent as possible.
Kwarteng met bankers and hedge fund managers a few days before the budget for a champagne party, then comes the budget Kwarteng abolishes the cap on banker’s bonuses, then the pound plunges and those same bankers made millions betting against the pound. The police should investigate!
Perhaps someone in a suitable position could look into it.
Exactly. This govt ARE criminals. It seems they are immune to the laws of the land ?
you realise that just because there was a cap in bankers bonus didnt mean they were not getting bonuses above and beyond that cap.. the cap was pure cash terms only.
They shorted The Pound so much.....it became The Ounce

Which means Kwasi should have been Sacked on the Spot, that was ten times worse in the publics eye , who are suffering rising costs and Businesses Collapsing , than Boris Party Gate

@@soulcrewblue5608 Who cares? Right this, left that. In this case, I'm fully with them in terms of how bad the Tory party is now (of it's own making). We need a general election asap. And then we can vote for um.... someone else.
Andrew Marr isn't a Tory at all.
I remember the 80's high interest rates, housing collapse, negative equity etc. The Truss mini budget is taking us all there. The hustings people voted for her for their own tax benefits. Its gone very wrong for Truss and the torys. A GE is required asap.
Don't forget unemployment
That was created by a dogmatic Thatcher Government. They put dogma ahead of the fundamental laws of inflation.
No

Austerity is taking us there. Took us there.
Nick Ferrari has spent his entire career enabling these dodgy politicians.
Absolutely! When he interviewed Librium Liz, he asked why pensions should rise in line with inflation but not benefits, if he wasn't a Tory enabler he would've said 'Isn't because pensioners are more likely to vote Conservative?' I loathe the man!
No lies detected a true Tory fanboy.

Just imagine being a Tory voter. Imagine thinking it wouldn't end up like this. Must be massively embarrassed and humiliated.
They don't care, just as long as they personally are better off. It's only when Tory policies impact upon themselves that they get angry.
They're incapable of shame.

They probably couldn't care less.
You would have to be ignorant and selfish in the first place, to vote Tory.

This cabinet gives real meaning to the saying:
THICK AS THIEVES
If Truss had been listening she just might have shared her wonderful plan with her Cabinet first. Autocratic 'Leadership' is a weakness - Truss has exposed hers rather admirably.
Along with the contempt she has for the British people. She is more concerned about pledging more money to Ukraine and bringing in dinghies to put more people up in hotels at the taxpayers expense, while us Brits can freeze and starve this winter.
what going to happen with the 65billion from the bank
there not even talking about that
what about all the mortgages ffs
GET THEM OUT
That £65 billion from the Bank of England was fake Monopoly money, created out of thin air and now it’s all gone, like soap bubbles filled with thin air. Smoke and mirrors, but the higher inflation thanks to artificially printing £65 billion will hurt us ordinary workers
Summoning the Ghost of Boris Johnson already Nick Ferrarri? You have got to be kidding me
Johnson was a charlatan, lining his mate's pockets for his own gain further down the road. No way he'll ever be back.
It's pretty stunning to see Nick Ferrari and Andrew Marr basically giving the new government it's last rights.

If only David Cameron had NOT given the go ahead for the Brexit referrendum? No Boris, no partygate, no Truss, no disastrous mini budget, Putin would have kept quiet, and we would still be in the EU. The world would be a bit better than now, and the BOE would be £65bn better off.
All because he feared Farage would take votes from the Tories creating a labour victory.
Historians identify 'pivotal' moments in history, where one single decision had huge consequences. Cameron's decision will go down as one of them.
the really annoying thing is it was no brainer decision kick 80 members of the erg out of the party and still have a reduced majority or tear the country apart to appease 80 idiots turns out cameron was a scared idiot even if those erg members had joined ukip they would be an unelectable fringe party

Andrew Marr is a class act. He has had stints as a old school newspaper journalist and editor, an author on history with TV series attached, a weekly show and now freed of BBC constraints is rediscovering a candid voice. Do, when he talk about the internal dynamics and machinations of the Tory party, I sit up and listen. What frightens me is the effect on the country if the Truss govt were to implode. The markets may go haywire and only a Gen Election could offer a way through.
Only a winter of discontent will create a Gen Election. Truss is desperate for power.
Just noticed my typos. Age and anxiousness to comment! Haha!
I've had enough of this. I've had my own General Election? Starmer won by a mile! His honesty and decency coupled with Angela Rayners working class common sense made it a win win for Labour.
Hopefully more people will be thinking this way. 😁
Starmer is an active member of the Trilateral Commission which is Neoliberal to the core. No Nationalisation of Energy or Water companies which over 60% of population want.Look at his record of keeping 10 pledges he made.
Honesty and decency? A man who runs the Labour Party as yet another 'autocrat' and lied his way into power. Let's hope he changes because he's just a watered down version of the right neoliberal faction
Anyone who believes Labour would sort this country out is deluding themselves - they're even more intent on destroying the nation than the present government.
John, it is seriously worrying people like you still believe a GE is the answer. We are at the end of the fiat monetary cycle and being so in bed with America is why we are facing this economic collapse. Mass debt and greed along with a dumb down conquered society that is so dependant explains where we are now. We are at the end of the road, no more funny money, years of cheap free money and now the rise of China, India and Russia is why we are are the end of our cycle. Putin said pay in rubles of the gas goes off. Our elected officials who we vote to govern us chose that. Atb
Truss worst PM in history.
Liz Truss has the most unusual speaking style: she approaches the end of her own sentences with a genuine sense of intrigue about how they might conclude. She is like a kitten pawing at a land-mine…
You can hear Liz thinking every time she speaks, however every thought is incomplete. If she's not convinced by her own words, what makes her think she can convince us
I am sorry but she smiles like a cheshire cat and smirks to show contempt for the not so fortunate in this country. I truly think there is something wrong with her.
😄too nice tho, more a pigeon pecking at one
I'm no Tory but Nadine Dorries is right. Truss has NO mandate for the things she wants to do and obviously has no respect for her party members or the electorate. She thinks she's emulating Thatcher
Ironically nadine had no mandate for privatising channel 4. No mention of it in the manifesto.
It’s great to see the thick of it it being quoted in mainstream media…
I'm currently watch re-runs of 'Yes, Minister/ Yes, Prime Minister'..... and it seems as relevant today as it did 'then'. Just shows you, I think, that politics doesn't really change at all.
What's the old addage........"It doesn't matter who you vote for, The Government always gets in!!"
:)
How they picked truss over Sunak is beyond me
The banks didn't want him and the Tory donors certainly didn't. He was not going to cut taxes, so all the wealthy out there would not get their pockets lined or massive bonuses.
He is used to finances, you would think he was the best man for the job. This was 'rigged' and should be investigated thoroughly. Truss was near the bottom when the race was on for the next PM so ask yourselves how she got to where she was? It certainly wasn't her personality or brains now was it?
As soon as it got down to her and Rishi (the fact that she was blatantly offering top jobs to her cronies) it was perfectly clear who the better person was for the job. Rishi had Loads more experience, definately more honesty. He was more popular to the public but he refused to make the wealthy, wealthier, so he had no chance.
She didn’t have a criminal record !!!!
She's White he's not!!!
The Tory party is falling apart it is not just Lizzy. It's a sick institution destroyed by Greed. The only thing that will save Lizzy and it is a likely scenario, is Putin
Using low grade nuks in the coming week/mouths and I'm sure the Tory party would breathe a sigh of relief at such an horrendous get out.
There will be a new distraction for the dumb and conquered electorate to focus on, watch this space and learn!
Low grade - apparently even what they call a tactical nuke is several times the size of what the Americans dropped.
Shame on all those who voted Tory and Brexit. Unforgivable.
Andrew Marr is brilliant. Glad he is on LBC , my favourite station since I was 16 and I am now 54.
Don’t know how you can say boris United the party. They voted him out, he found it difficult to get legislation through parliament.
I would say it's more his own scandalous ways sheilded a lot of the infighting already taking place. Though it's been obvious the party has been fractured and a train wreck in process for a few leaders worth now.
He created an unholy coalition that was fragile at best of English Nationalists (Red Wall) and the Brexit Ultra's absorbing the dregs of UKIP and taking the Blue wall for granted.
He lied to all parties in the coalition keeping its head just above water, people forget before his demise there was a long string of by election failure where the Blue wall was being eaten by the Lib-Dems
They voted him out because the weight of his endless stream of self inflicted scandals was endangering their own position and for no other reason. If there is another leadership contest and his name is on the ballot the current projection is that he'd win as 70% (ish) of Tory members would prefer if he was still party leader.
They are snivelling, self serving toadies, every single one.
I'd love to know what her parents think of her now.
@@wendybates8439 If you're referring to Truss, apparently her own father has disowned her.

The MPs would have picked Sunak for sure. If Truss performed so woodenly at the members hustings the members would have done the same wouldn't they? Is it that being in the spotlight as PM changed her from brilliant orator to startled rabbit or were the Tory shires unwilling to vote for a black PM regardless of merit?
