Honestly why on earth did the Tories cut taxes and allow energy companies to keep their super profits. Liz Truss and Kwazi Kateng are both grossly irresponsible.
Have you ever considered the possibility that the consequences are desired.
Because Truss worked for one energy company (Shell), and was paid off by another (wife of BP's owner donated to the party).
In australia we had the liberal party which is essentially the australian tories. They dont believe in infrastructure spending & only giving tax cuts to high income earners. They keep saying they are the best managers of the economy. No idea.

I started to listen to LBC after seeing a clip of Mr. O'Brien back in March. Since then I have witnessed thee most amazing soap opera in modern history. One trolley wreck after another, all while a tsunami of denial covers the landscape and regards it all as 'a bit of fluff'. Truly amazing. Interviewing Liz Truss is exactly the same as chatting to robotic helplines. If you don`t ask a stock (standard) question it can`t think for itself and cannot give a non-standard answer. Where do the Tories find these pathetic party leaders ?

Apparently Truss is known as 'Daggers' in city. This is short for Dagenham, two stops beyond Barking.
People will die this winter, freezing in their houses.... It's absolutely horrific and unethical, the richest of society will get richer and the poor will literally die. I worry about my family not making ends meet, we already had to use credit cards this month just so we can fuel up. It's getting tight

Gordon Brown not only organized the world economy to cope in 2008, the independence of the Bank of England has now saved peoples pensions. He was ejected because his spend and invest mild Keynesianism was deemed to be wrong when interest rates were at an all time low and the economy needed a boost, because spending was out of control, supposedly. This has now been replaced by enormous spending to borrow at high interest rates just to cut taxes after years of hammering those on benefits and public services.
The idea that government spending was the cause of the financial crisis was one of the biggest lies ever sold to the British public. Btw, The Economist actually had a cartoon of Brown in a superhero costume because of his actions in 2008.
Actually the idea for BoE independence was down to Tony Blair .

I still believe that the Titanic was an insurance scam, seeing that it was massivley over-insured after its collision with a cruiser, and that it was intended to have it sunk in a managed way. Unfortunately, the co-ordinates were incorrect for its place of sinking.
Truss campaigned on the platform of tax cuts. She can hardly deny that stance (and cut the chancellor loose) now. No-one would believe it was all him.
I don't recall her talking about Bush's trickledown failure.
It makes you wonder: What would a party teeming with members in the top tax bracket stand to gain from voting such a person into office...
She campaigned on that to around 150,000 Tory Party members, the vast majority of whom are extremely rich, or more than rich enough to personally benefit in a very material way from it. This shouldn't have been up to them, it should have been a General Election. You can't have 150,000 people voting on someone who will have ultimate power over 70million. That should be a mandate from the masses, not the minority in an already massively bias'd group.
They are both driven by ideology so blindly that they can't take corrective action, because to do that would be to admit that their grand theories actually have errors in them...

Most people don’t quite realise that when the Bank of England prints money to buy government bonds, they are literally increasing inflation to fund a tax cut for the rich.
That inflation increase, is a tax on everyone. So, they’re not only decreasing taxes for the rich, they’re increasing taxes (inflation) for everyone else, to give it to the rich.

I think we all realised that when inflation rocketed after covid finished and we’d printed all the money to pay furlough etc.
Accruing money supply is inflation, price increase is a consequence.
Yes, QE devalues the currency (you know that thing that Truss and her chancellor tanked).
Gilt rates went up massively which makes government borrowing much more expensive just when they went to borrow more than ever to fund the rich man's tax cut and energy cap.
This caused a massive sell off in the bond markets and almost bankrupted pension funds, you know the things regular foke pay into for old age, nothing important really).

What i do not understand is how Kwasi could get the idea that "taxes" would hinder or further economic expansion. If i invest i do not pay taxes. They are simply non existent for me. If i take out the money i have to pay those taxes. Lowering taxes means i can REMOVE investment and take out money easier. Not PUT IT IN. I can not follow the arguments of Kwasi that lowering taxes means more investment. It does not.
Lowering administrative burdens, lowering buerocratic red tape, lowering housing taxes and taxes for the poor workers means more investment, removing and selling NHS to the US, removing workers rights, allowing enslavement, allowing indentured workers with their whole families like it was done in the 18th century - of course including unpaid child labor - helps investing into the economy. But certainly not remove taxes for the rich!
