HAHAHA ikr I always thought it was weird that NONE of them had no acne...
iM sTiLL a KiD fr I get soooo insecure
Alexi 🥺🥺🥺
Yamna ouch probably because all of them are adults in their mid twenties to mid thirties so they don’t really get that much acne. or they’re wearing bucket-loads of makeup
Right in most British kids sitcoms and stuff, there is always one episode where one (1) character gets one (1) spot and it is treated like the end of the world until an adult steps in in the final act and explains that it's natural and it will pass. But then, nobody ever gets another spot over the course of the series. Just a trope I've noticed and I hate it.
Is anyone going to talk about Ani’s hypocrisy? She framed monty for murder when for the whole season she intruded upon everyone else’s lives to try to find the real murderer. she made people tell the truth, which she didn’t even deserve, to just choose the person she wants to save in the end. so annoying.
Most characters were honest with a few people. Ani blatantly lied and withheld information from everyone all the time and acted so above it. She was portrayed horribly. What were the writers thinking?
Her character was pointless and unlikable. Like...sleeping with bryce...yes...y?! It's like the show runners wanted her to be a anoying bitch character
Seriously though, Monty deserved prison for the rape. But the logic of “he’s already going to prison so let’s frame him for murder” is stupid. Alex has NO reason to kill Bryce.
Yeah shes new so it's not fair for her to get the whole story. She wasn't there and for them to straight up tell her the whole story it's kinda annoying
Not to mention her selfish "I don't care if Bryce raped other girls because I fancy him" logic.
Let's acknowledge the face that Jess and Alex watched Clay get arrested, knowing damn well he was innocent
Lol right, some friends
Let’s be real, they didn’t know who’d be sHoCkInG enough to be Bryce’s ultimate killer and pulled Jess and Alex out of their ass. How they acted up until the last episode didn’t hint or foreshadow anything that would assume either of them were guilty or suspicious. It’s an obvious asspull on the writer’s part, no one can convince me otherwise.
@@NovaKnight_ Honestly I'm surprised at how little I see this pointed out. I too am convinced the writers didn't know themselves until the very end or if they did know they made sure there were NO clues or hints or logic that pointed to them because SHOCK VALUE. I rewatched some of the scenes with Jess and Alex before the reveal, and there are no clues that say they DIDN'T do it, but then again everyone was supposed to be acting suspicious just for the sake of it. I'd imagine Jess and Alex to be A LOT more stressed if they were actually guilty....
@grete The only thing that hints Jess had something to do with it, was the fact near the start she has a tape with blood on it. When your watching the show and it shows the tape on her bed, right away I was like. "What's with the tape? Is that blood or nail polish?" cause it didn't really look like blood.
@@NovaKnight_ EXACTLY
"it glorifies/glamorizes the idea of going through a traumatic experience." COULDN'T HAVE SAID IT BETTER!!!
right! there's that saying that there's beauty in pain & from pain & trauma comes great art, poetry, writing. But real pain is just pain, there's no beauty in it. like those lyrics "you can get addicted to a certain kind of sadness", yea a really mild, more like teen angst, brooding kind of sadness. but not real sadness like depression or grief.
I don’t like thirteen reasons why, but how does it “glamorize” going through a traumatic experience? None of the traumatic experiences I’ve seen on the show look appealing at all
That Being Said because every single character has to go through something traumatic to be interesting or cared for. And the “normal” people are stuck in the background. It makes the viewers believe you have to go through something traumatic to be listened to. And most of the viewers are kids, which makes it even worse. Thats just what i think atleast
That Being Said it encourages victimhood. It shows that being a “victim” makes you important, therefore more attention, more demands to be catered to. Kind of like millennials and society today.
@@AmazingGolazo THIS!! That's exactly how I feel about this show as a whole, especially because it's far from "realistic" at least on a majority scale. It's frustrating when I have to tell me that no, I'm not like any of these characters despite having gone through some shit. And I hate explaining to my cousins that no, you don't have to go through depression or anxiety or anything TRAUMATIC to feel some kind of pain or struggle internally.
Clay: “i want to seek justice and the truth!”
Plot: *Alex is the one revealed to kill Bryce*
Clay:......unless it’s one of my bros that kinda treated me like crap throughout most of our relationship
💀💀💀
That's a good point, like he didn't even blink an eye.. so dumb
Clay just mad bryce was fucking the new chick
Yes. Thank you! That was what buffled me, he suspected his friends at the beginning and goes crazy on them saying all that bs but then he found out Alex killed Bryce and they were all like, we deserve to be happy and move on at the end. WTF! Bryce and Monty weren't the best human beings but they definitely didn't deserve to die so miserably like that.
@@cannonfod1346 FUCK MONTY!! I only feel bad for Bryce
It also annoys me that the 'brand' of 13 reasons why is all about "talk to an adult! talk to someone you trust! go find help!" but in the show, all the kids refuse to trust adults and need to do everything themselves....
edit: everyone can stop commeting that that's the whole point of the show, to show that things get fucked up if you don't. I get it
ItsMyNijntje Maybe the point is to show how far things could possibly go if you don’t ask for help, many teenagers actually don’t ask for help in real life. (Also, it’s to cover their butts.)
ItsMyNijntje too true
I think that is the point. They all got into so much shit by not talking to adults. I know when I watched it I was constantly screaming at the screen “why don’t you just tell someone”. I think it worked.
@@entitree. I mean you also have to take into account that adults don't listen to kids and that's why they don't tell anyone. They just think alot of what kids have to say is nonsense and doesn't matter or depending on what you say you'll get in trouble for it.
Also the fact that half the adults in this show are just as bad if not miles worse than some of the teenage characters.
deepshaking that’s also very true. I know a million adults in real life who are incapable of being adults.
People are so focused on Ani but fail to realize that Jessica and Alex almost let Clay go to jail for a crime they know he didn’t commit🤷🏾♂️
lol ikr
At least they are character from 1st and 2nd season, not fing nancy drew come out of nowhere has stupid accent and act like everyone needs her

i’m a graphic designer and sorry but it’s just basic editing
they massacared clay so harshly.. clay used to be like just a kid whos trying to get justice but then they turned him into an obsessive and just disturbing character. but tyler was the best character since they showed how a person could turn around.
Legitimately turned Clay into a bit of a simp.
TJC whats a simp 😭
TJC i just saw this comment after two months and i can agree
saekimaki I would have actually liked to see Bryce become a reformed character.
I hated how Clay was so entitled and the world and everybody he knew could only be the way that he saw them. And he felt like he had the right to judge everyone’s actions and take matters into his own hands
The girl that was helping Jessica with the riot was more annoying than Ani
Tom Cruise My god every time she came on screen I was like SKIP
The worst is that the actress plays the same roles over and over again !
Tom Cruise you’re 100% right she was so annoying, she was just like “Ik you run this committee and you were the one who was raped and all buuuuuut, your opinion doesn’t matter Bc I’m a feminist and I’m going to boycott a funeral.”
no she wasn't. the Annie character was useless AF and the Jessica girl was always making herself a victim
@@legitaf5072 ani at least tried to be a character, even if she was bad, she does not compare to the feminist girl, which shows by the fact that none of us know the characters name nor care to find out
Finally someone points out the hypocrisy. Jessica and Alex need to be in jail. Just because trama happened does not give them a pass for murder.
Thank you. People say he deserves it, but if you plan to take the law into, your own hands you have to be ready to deal with the consequences. We as the audience have insider information, their police does not. If everyone took this approach to crime.... A lot of innocent men who have been wrongfully excused would die.
Also I didn’t like how they romanticized Jess and Justin’s relationship. Acknowledging that you’re toxic for each other and then choosing to stay isn’t romantic and ‘real love’. Like, move on, geez. 🙄
As Jake Peralta would say, "Cool motive, still murder."
The way Jess handled it (before she was part of murdering Bryce) was wayyyy better. she put awareness to it and was strong after all what happened.
Murder I'd wrong but imagine the PTSD if you saw your friend raped by your same rapist and reacted in flight mode in shock that's a heavy scar but it makes you crack a little not justifying but everyone is not strong willed and ut only takes a step to trigger them the whole message is be careful how you treat people you never know what a person's intentions are they could be suicidal or homicidal
I dislike Ani's character so much, she was such a liar. Tyler on the other hand made me cry twice. I'm so glad he was able to get better after all he went through. Also I didn't particularly dislike the season. They show how people no matter what, are capable of either good or bad.
she defends a r*pist by using Tyler's name like wtf is wrong with u
@@cerauno21 Idk what you are talking about.
Season 1 - I'm here for clay Jensen
Season 3 - look how they massacred my boy
I was expecting to discover that Ani was a liar and was mking her own story for the police. An unreliable narrator that tells the story she'd like to have happened, but never had. Every Clay scene I was like: "Nope, ridiculous, he woud never react like this..." But in the end... So disappointing.

How does it end?
Spot on
I had some very traumatic things happen to me and it's a massive pet peeve of mine when shows either make the traumatic thing the main part of the character or when they structure the show so good things come from the traumatic thing. I get seeing the good side but the way some shows do it feels like they're almost justifying the horrible thing

4th season - Monty is not dead and comes back for revenge.
Nah man they killing off all the jocks because people who play sports are bad. I hope monty comes back and gets exonerated for the murder and tyler and alex go to prison for the murder and nearly shooting up the school. Lowkey if tyler actually shot up the dance and killed bryce and monty that would have been a more interesting storyline. And season 3 would have been about tylers trial, showing the differences between rape and murder. And no matter how much someone's hurt people they still dont deserve to be killed.
@Sally Vee mane please Monty had plenty of time to change. Sometimes it's called karma that gets you and it's too late to change. You can't blame God. You got to blame yourself for not changing. He could have changed when Bryce confronted him. He could have changed multiple times. It ain't like he died soon after he raped Tyler. He died 7 or 8 months later. That's plenty of time to change. Sometimes when you do wrong, you run of time to change. That's why it's good to change quickly because you never know when your time is up. But one thing you can't say is he didn't have enough time. He had plenty of time, my guy. He just choose to not to do the right thing.
@Sally Vee and thirteen episodes adds to about a few months in real time when Bryce changed. Just because Monty didn't have no screen time doesn't mean he didn't have enough time to change.
@Sally Vee ok because that's apart of life. That's my point everybody doesn't get a chance to get a second chance to change. That's why it's good to change at the very moment. And that's because the writers wrote it like that. It's their story they can write like how ever they want because stuff like that happens in real life. Every rapist, every killer, every kidnapper, every adulterer don't get a second chance because they time ran out and that's God mercy if they do. And please Monty had plenty of time. He had about seven to eight months to change. That's plenty of time because some people rape people and die the next day. So yes, God did have grace on him. Monty just chose not to change. End of story.
@@Godfirst986 Monty is like almost the only semirealistic person in this season. Nobody would turn 180° like Bryce did. At least their show us Monty's background and what lead to behave the way he did. They also show us the "good side" he has at the end, to point out, that nothing's black or white. But really? He was all alone, didn't have anyone. His only true brother died, the others just listened to him but never really respected him or were his friends. His dad just threw him away, just because he's gay. And he just has noone else to talk to, gets killed and is framed of a murder he didn't do. Don't get me wrong, I don't want to idolise him but he shows one of few character from this serie, which could really exist.

S03- Hannah who?
Edit: people coming for me in the comments y'all need to chill. This was just a joke. Y'all don't need to take it so personally like you are the writers f the show 😂
ankita parody m8, the whole se old Season was about letting Hannah go and letting things go to rest. Literally one of the last scenes in season two is clay during Hannah’s funeral having a vision, as he speaks about how great she was, telling him he has to let Hannah go. And so he does, another point of this season is that this is all now bigger than Hannah. Etc.
Lorenzo agreed this is what I wanted to say
The title of the show makes zero sense to the third season.

Protesting a funeral is a line to far, for anyone. Even the worst society has families, and the only thing you where doing tossing out more hate into the world.
Daniel Magger exactly. Funerals aren’t meant for the dead, they’re for the living friends and family of the dead person therefore protesting it means that you have a problem with the living people who did nothing wrong, not the dead person.
Thats why she tried to stop them from protesting it
Yeah, why did the show make rape survivors villainous?
And tried to make rapists seem like poor victims.
@@pyroshayniac1090 Couldn't have said it better myself
What did 13 reasons why show us? If you're gonna kill someone it helps if your pops is a cop.
Alex's dad conspired with the kids to have Monty killed in jail. That would actually make more sense than anything.
Doubly so if he's also Lucifer.
"Bryce raped many girls but he has dark past and sad life so it is okay"
When will these people learn that having a past trauma doesn't justify being a horrible human being?
If I could like this comment a thousand times I would. Sure, a fucked up past gives someone a reason to do fucked up shit, but that doesn't justify their actions.
My thoughts exactly. You can go through sh*t, but that doesn't mean you should become a sh*tty person. Instead I feel like you should be more sympathetic to people's problems and not be the cause of more horrible sh*t.
From what I saw it never said it was okay cause even after falling down from Grace he had his episodes of his abusive self. What we just knew is even though he did what he did he is a human being
I'm so over the "bad guy had a sad life, so it's ok if he was bad" narratives in tv shows. It's not original or interesting anymore. Not every antagonist needs to be overly humanized with a pity backstory.
We already live in a world where bullies become presidents and rapists win awards. Why do we need to always woobify them in fiction too?
criminologists have to understand a criminal, thus research all their past trauma's and them being sad and good, it doesn't make the crimes go away, but these are points to consider, it's a fact.

Clay’s greatest weakness is his loyalty to others. He should’ve gotten Alex and Jessica arrested, even though they had trauma. Montgomery had severe trauma as well, and in the end got murdered in Alex’s behalf.
megusik30 tbh Monty was going to be murdered either way. I just thought it was wrong for them to pin the blame on him whether he died or not.

I didn't like how they framed Clay and Hannah's relationship as a one sided obsession. Ani herself admitted that she knew practically nothing about Hannah, but she still talked about the relationship to mischaracterize Clay.

So true
Tyler was the best character this season hands down. He had a BEAUTIFUL development, he was broken, picked up the pieces, and put them back together. 🥺
I agree. Tyler was literally the only interesting character to me. His arc is also what saved Season 2 imo. That actor did such a good job portraying a male victim of assault, I literally got tears in my eyes when he told Clay what happened. That should've been a focus of this season rather than trying to cover some random "hot topic" each episode - abortion, deportation, addiction, steroids, etc. All of those are important issues but they weren't handled in-depth and so it was hard to care about them. I mean... chloe could've been an interesting character too but why have only 1 episode with her and it's all about abortion
E slater School shooter. Awww so sad 😒. I mean just know that he almost shot up a school and his friends covered for him just like they did with Bryce’s murder, it really makes you feel for them all. Like how they all deserve jail time. Because they still broke the law and Jessica has been going on about owning up to actions. And telling on people even if they are your friends.
@@scarlet8078 Exactly! They were trying to say abortion shouldn't define you but then they made it define her???? Like??
Hey can I ask you something, at the beginning of the show we saw Ani cleaning up some blood of a white shirt, so what was that exactly??
ziii neeb it was just paint.
I'm still wondering what happened to the other characters from season 1 and 2... Like wtf they seemingly disappeared
The Asian and black chick graduated high school
Cj Warren Courtney didn’t graduate, she was in like one episode
@@champagnepapi1584 The part where Courtney is in, is a flashback scene. The flashback scene takes place shortly after the spring fling (where the school shooting almost happened), so its still the 3rd year of high school for characters like Clay, Jessica, Tyler, Ani, etc, and its Courtney's senior and final year. The events of Season 3 takes place during the senior year of the characters who were in their 3rd year during the spring fling/Season 2, so Courtney has already graduated like Marcus and Ryan. Hence we don't see them this Season.

Why :')
I like her mother and their arc but it could have been done so much better imo. It feels like she just comes out of nowhere and takes the spotlight
it makes NO sense why a secretive group would trust "the new girl" with so much information. It destroys logic.

Me neither, watching Tyler get assaulted in the Season 2 finale was enough to put me off watching the show for good, as it was clear that they had learned nothing about subtlety. It might have been more effective had they just shown the aftermath, and allowed the audience to fill in the blanks.
Pet Shark what I suggest doing is to watch spoilers for season 2 because it’s super booooring and like so extra and then just get to season 3 because it’s sooo much better. Ani seemed to magically be everyone’s best friend too, even though she just showed up 5 minutes prior. I hate when shows do that, when 2 people meet and by the end of the episode they’re overcoming some meaningful, incredibly private problem and celebrate like they’ve known each other since kindergarten.

Just A Man of Culture actually season 4 will be the last season
Really annoyed me how Alex got away with it & they all covered it up, made all the build up seem a bit anti climactic
RyaanS Music exactly and the fact that he did that shit and Jessica and made everyone go through it
And he still gets no consequences in the last season
The only thing I enjoyed about s3 was seeing Tyler grow through his pain and end up getting justice against monty
I cried during Bryce’s flashbacks with his mom. This is the worst ending with him. It hurts me that when he tries to get better he get murdered. Didn’t even get juctise
ColelikesCartoons justice for what exactly please tel me
Same I just wanted to give him a hug
Which is more than I enjoyed about season 1&2."13 Reasons Why"sucks but this season is the less of 3 evils for now.
sadboihours & that’s exactly how they wanted us to react. I literally don’t feel bad for a serial rapist
... I thought 13 Reasons Why was about finding out why Hannah killed herself?
But then they saw how much money they can get if they continue the show
Kevin Jimenez LOLOL!!!
Masia M no one cares about hanna baker here’s ANI cos why not
...catch up
Masia M season 1 was read the book and watch the first season 🤦🏽♂️
okay but the yoga studio scene with bryce got me in tears. I know he’s absolutely terrible but seeing him completely break down was so accurate and I bawled my eyes out.
The season 2 and 3 of 13rw its like when I im done with my makeup and it looks good but I keed adding more and ends up looking PRETTY bad
Season 1: "SHE KILLED HERSELF BECAUSE OF ALL OF YOU! AND YOU HAVE TO PAY FOR THAT!!1!"
Season 3 : "So we straight up murdered the guy and got another bad dude killed, completely lied about it to the cops, but it's okay u know we're the good guys.yay."
couldnt said it better myself they know monty will die soon so they just easily frame it on him knowing that he wont able to defend himself in court
They didn't get Monty killed he was already in jail for the Tyler incident
Well Monty was in jail because of what he did to Tyler and knowing his attitude he was probably killed because of it
Someone finally gets me! Thank you, Keps!
It was so unfair what they did to him even if he wasn't dead you can't just blame someone bcus they're already in jail on. THEY'RE ALL BAD PPL apart from Sherri WE WANT SHERRI BACK
It is nice to see you going back to your roots. I really miss these video essays and I hope you continue to do more every now and then. It is a nice change of pace and these are just very interesting and entertaining.
EDIT: Have a good morning, everyone who reads this.
I agree, I like it when Alex takes a break from his usual style once in a while and discusses more serious shows.
@@trinaq I wouldn't call 13 Reasons Why a more serious show lol. It's definitely more Degrassi than Westworld. Still a cheesy teen drama that throws in serious topics without having the depth to deal with them.
Good morning to you too honey!
I had a great morning, about 12 hours ago :)
MeShannan Degrassi was a serious show though
The only thing I'm grateful for is that Tyler finally told the truth and Monty was punished.
@Leonard Erasmus nahh the writers tried to make us feel sorry for him because his gay?? never! happy he gone and I'm happy he got spat on by his dad!
I’d rather have him rot in jail than be framed for a murder tho
Legit, same with Bryce. I hate that people feel sorry for him. It was ofc wrong by law for Jessica and Alex to kill Bryce, but he had ruined so many lives that, in my opinion, he didn't even deserve to live. I felt nothing when he died. I wasn't happy either, bc murder is wrong, but him being gone didn't bother me at all.
He forgot to mention that side character from season 2...the one who just held clay back in the hallway fight instead of actually hitting him. What was the point of his character?
Taylor Alford literally tho. like they never went in depth into scott and he never had a storyline except he was a nice jock
Yeah. There are a few characters that just never got fully explained. It’s weird especially with how long the episodes are
Euphoria is tons more realistic in this genre. It really has relatable characters.
@yumyum lol
@yumyum The bunch of " lot of peepees"comments is one of the reasons I didnt watch yet lol
EUPHORIA IS MY SHIT.
Is it on Netflix?
i wanna watch Euphoria but i've heard it's practically porn, i'm not into that lmao
Monty didn't deserve to die like that and it wasn't fair that Alex didn't pay for what he did. Jessica is such a hypocrite.
Fr tho
Bella Boop how did Monty not deserve it. He shoves a broom stick up a guy who had to go through therapy for previous trauma.. monty deserved what he god .
Bella Boop Monty deserves to rot in hell
I don't feel bad for Monty even though I haven't watched that episode. Jessica is being a hypocrite though.

Same tbh ngl
Yes! Best character this whole season. He was so cute when he started smiling again🤗
Big facts💯
ALL of this!
Tyler is forever my babyyyy he makes me feel his emotions with him 😭🤞🏾
That was my issue with this season. For two whole seasons, clay wanted to find out the truth and get justice for those harmed and put away those guilty. But if it's his friends who are guilty, he will do anything to frame someone else to get them off. It's such a bullshit plot and it absolutely goes against everything the show is supposed to be in season 1 and 2
Yep, your totally right
They are going to go more into that In season 4
Cameron Field We both know they’re going to pull the cheap card of 1 or 2 turning themselves in and the others will get away with covering up a murder/ assisting in a murder.
Alex didn't have have that much of a reason to kill Bryce !!
Alex said, "you've hurt everyone I've ever loved"... (Bryce raped Jessica and even accused her of "setting him up to be beaten", Bryce threatened to hurt/kill Zach who helped Alex with things like therapy, Bryce caused the death of Hannah, and Alex felt so guilty about not being able to help her when she was getting raped Alex even attempted to kill himself because of it, etc)... What Alex did was wrong, but he did have reasons, plus he was on steroids and he had what they call "Roid Rage".
Momo Yaoyorozu - It was him.

Jaylyn 4real nosy bitch, who was just randomly thrown in and somehow became one of the main characters
I hated her at the beginning for snitching cuz I was like "who is you?" Then later she started lying and got real rude when Clay was a lil suspicious of her. Then she goes blame a dead man for murder to protect her "friends" Someone needs to remove her nosy two faced character smh
What about me: I haven't liked Alex since the 1st season.

I really don't get it anyway, season 1 was great, it was about Hannah, and the whole title is about Hannah. Now it's suddenly about fucking "who killed Bryce Walker"
The biggest problem is that there's Season 3 of this show .
Yea season 1 is the best
Period. I honestly don’t understand why my friends and classmates like this show and why it’s praised for being “So realistic” when there’s other shows that portray mental illness, death, rape, and suicide without glamming it up.
even S2 is a mistake too.
And now they're gonna make season 4 too. ugh
Honestly S2 was a must. Bc they showed every story has 2 sides. But this season was more like Riverdale and not necessary. Loved the character development but the season was so boring (bc of Ani mostly tbh)
"Everyone is defined by the worst thing that happened to them" sounds like high school
They are in high school.. =)
Cameron Field and everyone didn’t know about everyone else’s baggage
Ummmm what high school did you go to lol?? Most kids didn’t give a damn about anyone elses’ problems unless it was within your immediate friend group. The worst thing I’ve ever seen is seeing a sophomore girl pregnant that “effected” the school, but that’s it. Or someone committing suicide.
The day to day “omg Jessica kissed Jake” is so unrealistic and such a stereotypical high school move.
Including all the parties in this show. Lol. This is more how college works if anything.
I find Jessica more annoying than Ani 😬 hypocrite! And Alex belongs in jail!
What I don't like about Jessica is basically what he mentions in the video- she is literally defined by her trauma. Her entire life now revolves around being a victim. I know almost nothing about her as a person, her likes and dislikes, her goals after school. All I know about her is that she's a rape victim. Almost everyone in this show is just a walking trauma/ cliche. Sexual assault victims, drug addicts, crippled athletes, almost mass shooters, suicide survivor, teenage pregnancy. It's like the fucked up version of The Breakfast Club.
Alex was willing to help Bryce until he mentioned Zac
Edward Collins that screams gay
The kid's sick I mean his mood swings is a whole new level
*AGREE* :)
I honestly can't believe they ruined Alex' character like that :(
Violet Daisy his character was always ruined for me

i hated alex
He was an asshole from season 1
zach and alex were too good for do that horrible things in last 2 seasons. well alex had issues and he gets better but zach?!? i didn't like it at all!
Perfectly pointed out! Also I think another problem in the series is Clay, he actually is traumatized and have issues inside him that portrays into anger and obsession on the outside, but in the whole show he never ask for help, he never accepts it, even Justin at the end ask for help for the drug problem, and Clay seriously needs a therapist!!
Ani for 13 reasons why is like Carol Danvers in captain marvel. She appears from anywhere and suddenly everyone loves her and saves the world.

What I need to happen in S4:
1. Jess and Alex goes to court for what they did, Ani too for being a shitty liar and basically disappear from the face of the earth Ani.
2. Alex's dad lose his job and license for tampering with evidence (Mark, Ilysm but I really hate ur character here).
3. More of Monty's back story.
4. Tyler leaving all this shitty people behind and finally having a normal life, get as far away as possible from them Tyler.
5. Lastly Clay finally gets a life of his own and stop minding other people's business after realizing Jess and Alex were willing to let him get arrested like what they did with Monty.
So...... were you satisfied with season 4?
Nico Network
Nope, not at all.
I'm dead.
Waste of time.
Waste of money.
Do people even actually think it was good? Seriously?
Moral of the story: Life sucks and everything is okay as long as you have great friends to cover up your murder. The end.
1. Ani in a nutshell, "I came into this time and fell in love with the people", still not enough of a reason to be in everyone's business and lying about a CRIME. I gotta say they did try their best not to make her not unlikeable because of all the hate she received.
2. Alex is gay. They really tried, really really tried so hard to point out that the reason why his life sucks was because he was gay not the fact that he killed someone. I mean everyone else was having a much more harder time trying to cope with the fact that he was a killer and that they covered it all up than him. He was just too busy with his lovelife to care.
3. Winston, you started great. Had a mission and that is to expose this hypocrites of their crime but then he fell in love and forgot just about everything. What even was the point of his character?
4. Clay should have just left with his family and took Justin with him, or stayed far away from his "friends" as much as possible. Or had counseling after Hannah died, or minded his own business and just wallowed in self pity all by himself. Myabe he would have just been a fine emo boy at that point.
5. Justin, was the only character with so much development and growth, they had to kill him to make the finale more dramatic even though it was pointless.
6. You can get away with murder and framing someone up because your gay and Monty and Bryce deserved it. Not because you're a murderer and should be put in jail. Nope nope, being a "good person" erases the fact that you killed someone or having a cop father or be gay(I still cant believe they had to turn him gay because he didn't have enough crisis on his life). Friends are real great to help you get away with murder. Oh hey, they should have had that title "How to get away with murder" from the start instead of 13rw. They claimed Hannah was murdered by Bryce, Bryce and Monty was murdered, Justin was murdered by the show.
Btw they were such great friends that even though Zach was an alcoholic and a druggie it was just bypassed and they never even tried to help him, they just forgot poor Zach.
I'm sorry, I am venting. I wasted my time watching this shit. It was supposed to be a realistic look on bullying and rape but instead we get a show with no moral compass at all, that allows murderer to have a happy ending instead of paying for their crimes. Kinda moot considering they all wanted Bryce to pay for his crimes to Hannah and redemption on all your wrongdoings accidental or not. That was the point of the tapes to realize your past mistakes and try to be a better person. But instead, sigh, if was like they just decided to write whatever for the script and be done with it.
@@cannonfod1346 should have stopped in season 3. S1 and 2 where great. We saw the story and then how it affected everyone. Tbh S2 was a bit more dramatic and unrealistic but still ok. That's just it. It's not meant to be therapeutic or anything of the sort. It's just another teen drama like any other. I mean c'mon it's exaggerated to all Hell. Realism was never a factor and it was never intended to prevent anything or take the place of an actual therapist. Producers were practically forced to slap the disclaimer on the show for the sake of the content. It's just a teen soap opera. Also, the guns lost in the river? Monty's "boyfriend" finding out about how he was framed? Do those not sound like loose ends? They do to me.
I actually like your video essays! Your voice is very expressive and it adds life to your words!

"the biggest problem with 13 Reasons Why season 3"
My mind: Ani
I don’t know about anyone else but the reason I kept watching was Tyler’s character arc. (Yeah he helped cover up things as well) Devin Druid did an amazing job, I felt genuinely moved when he spoke about his rape and trauma, that I cried each time.
Also Tony, I love Tony.
But all the other characters were all very confusing.
Becky Miller I love tony. Tony is honestly the only reason why I watch this show tbh. 😂
I actually enjoyed this season more than the other 2. The other two seasons to me seemed like “oops she’s dead what a shame :(“ but season 3 made me realize that nothing in this world is black and white, that everything is in a gray space and that no one is truly, truly completely evil.
Please please be doing season 4 now, i love your take
my problem with the show is how hard it prides itself on being realistic but how absolutely far removed from reality it actually is. besides getting obvious legal things right, the the writers seem to have no idea how the world, and by extension teenagers, are like. and the thing is, they don't want to learn. they don't listen to the opinions of experts on how to deal with certain things. a good example was the complete 180 they on Bryce's character. they portrayed him as a one dimensional, sex-obsessed villain for two whole seasons, and then suddenly want to make him a good guy again? that kind of change doesn't happen in less than a year. i'm not saying that people that do horrible things can't ever get better, but the writers don't seem to understand that this kind of change takes a lot of time. bryce was clearly portrayed to think of women as objects and had uncontrollable sexual urges, and it would realistically take a lot of time and therapy to be able to get him out of that. but instead of showing a process, the writers were just like "yo what if he just like respects women now all of the sudden" ad called it character development. it completely lacks subtlety. you don't just become a good guy overnight. they clearly had no ideas for the third season and decided to make up the whole bryce arc so last minute. thank you for reading my essay i got carried away..
It's a TV show, it was already assumed that a lot of things had already happened. And of course Bryce didn't changed overnight, that's why they had back stories, going back and forth. It was assumed that it was already a year later from the timeline of season 2. We can't cover an entire whole year of event for a show. What?! 🤦🏻
You're right in saying things don't happen overnight but I think the bigger goal was to show it *can* happen. Bryce showed that he understood that he was still fucked before he was killed but the more important thing is he wanted to change and I personally believe that desire can easily be triggered from the trial, ostracism and general shit he endured after being exposed as asshat rapist. People want to be liked. Even if he didn't make any severe real progress on the inside, I think it's completely plausible to come to the conclusion that within a year he could've been heading in a decent direction. He wasn't perfect on the bridge. Clearly. But he was better.
Side note: not excusing what he did. Asshat rapist in the past. But I believe he didn't want to be that anymore. At the very least.
mercyxmutual I agree with the OP, you can’t dispel realism just to prove someone *can* change in a couple of months. It doesn’t take a couple of months in reality to change a serial rapist, there’s too much psychological unpacking to do. If he was just a generic ‘I shove kids in lockers’ guy, sure, but he was a serial rapist. I get showing someone has the ability to change and reflect, but his change of heart wasn’t realistic at all-which matters since the show prides itself on ‘realism’ and ‘showing real issues, unfiltered blah blah blah’.
nah, bryce's character development was on point, i actually felt for the dude
to all the people saying it’s just a tv show, y’all ignored my point about how the writers constantly suck their own cocks about how their portrayal of issues is ~so realistic~. if they didn’t say how true to life their show is every five fucking minutes i’d have less of a problem with it.
Bryce: *R*pes Jessica while she’s barely conscious*
*R*pes Hannah and is one of the biggest reasons why she killed herself*
*Does the same to his own girlfriend Chloe*
*Freaks out on Zach for getting closer to Chloe*
*Scares a little kid when he’s tRyInG tO cHaNgE*
*Says he’s r*ped 8 or 9 other girls but isn’t even sure how many*
*Beats up characters*
*Covers up Monty beating up Winston because Monty’s clearly “one of the only good ones left”*
*Is a drug dealer*
*On top of all the terrible things he’s done, he tries to prove his innocence last season and doesn’t accept the consequences of his actions in any way, shape, or form*
13 Reasons Why writers: Bryce was a good person in the end and trying to change.
Yeah using Ani to try to humanize him felt wrong. People know rapists are human, but he did a fucked up things and it can’t be justified. However, I hope all the main characters got Jain for breaking the law. Murder, accessory to murder, and hiding information pertaining to the murder. Just like Bryce actions can’t be excused they can’t excuse their actions.
Season lesson: how to get away with murder
Season 3*
Really well said
But he was trying to change tho. One of the point of this seasons was mainly to show you that people you perceive to be "monsters" aren't entirely monsters, as in they have lives that aren't related to the negative things they do to a person, Byrces friends are conflicted on how to feel about his death cause of how supportive he was in their life and how he was a brother to them when in need i.e Justin and Monty, his mother was distraught at her son who she very much was appalled at because he's a rapist by dying because there's no chance to change anymore, as she personally got to see him try to be better with therapy and trying to fix their estranged relationship, all this is gone now and no longer possible. Ani who spent the most time with him, eveen tho she's been here the least amount of time, got to see his most positive sides compared to any other character and even grieved his death because she truly believed he didn't deserve it, hell even Jessica his victim didn't think he deserved to die.
Now did he relapse into past behavior like dealing drugs and harming people? yes ofc he did, that's part of the improvement process. People fall back into old bad habits regardless if they want to or not, they don't simply change without hurdles just cause they want to, i.e Justins drug problem, Jessicas never ending battle with her assault, Clays constantly overlooked mental health concerns and lack of self worth, Alex re-attempting to suicide. Im not sure what you're trying to point out ( i would like to note that the writers did a horrendous job with making bryce the worst rapist ever and then trying to see if he's redeemable in this one, they're basically two different people now and it's jarring)
video essays are my favorite! please make more!!!
Tyler made me realised that things do get better and it takes a long time to see the positive change. There is going to be bad days but also good days and you have to keep going to get where you want to be.
