    Hi Jamie, would you happen to know how the chemistry differs from a quick detailer?
    E.g., does it have stronger surfactants to emulsify the dirt or some ionic charge to safely dislodge dirt?
    My gallon is coming Friday and I can’t wait to use. I’ve used P&S Epic Waterless Wash + 3D Waterless Wash and enjoyed them both, scent is great, they’re far more expensive then Superior Products!

    • @Reaper-Jim
      @Reaper-Jim Před 7 dny +2

      I’m not Jamie but I know what’s in SP Waterless Wash n Wax; crystalline silica, petroleum based solvent and blahlahblahsiloxane. While those chemicals ARE hazardous to human beings, in diluted form they are relatively safe. The main difference of a waterless wash is that it contains polishing/waxing agents AND detergents rather than just polishing/waxing agents that detail sprays contain. Both contain some sort of distilled water and alcohol mixture.
      SP Waterless Wash n Wax is an excellent cleaner for unpainted plastic trim, rubber seals, weatherstripping and to a much lesser degree = glass. Jamie is 100% on this product being effective, it really is. However, I can’t get behind the waterless wash method. It’s just simply not the best way to clean vehicles … in my opinion and experience. That certainly doesn’t mean it has no place in detailing, because it does. And it most definitely doesn’t mean you shouldn’t use it, because you should … if your options are that limited.
      All this is probably not what you wanted to read, but don’t be discouraged or disappointed because when you get it you’ll be happy with its performance.

      So I actually just got off of SP website and I was looking at the MSDS and such.
      From my personal experience and in actual use I think Waterless wash cleans better and is slicker than most quick detailers however waterless wash is technically just a quick detailer.
      From SP’s website “Waterless Wash & Wax is an easy to use quick detail product. Spray on, gently rub in and wipe off! Waterless Wash & Wax cleans and polishes without water, virtually anywhere, anytime. Waterless Wash & Wax is a safe, biodegradable alternative to using soap and water. Will Waterless Wash & Wax clean an off-road mudder? No way! However, to quickly clean and detail this is one outstanding product! VOC compliant. Dilute product 1:1 to 5:1.”
      It definitely has stronger surfactants than a quick detailer and emulsifies the dirt and stuff much better. I always notice when I use a QD as a waterless wash I will get a ton of streaking if the surface is not perfectly clean with this product I do not have those issues because it has those added surfactants.

    • @jamiesdetailing
      @jamiesdetailing  Před 9 dny

      Definitely see my other comments on this in the comments section. But the short answer is yes. The more complicated answer has to do with if you like toppers on your coatings or not. Some people think it is practically sacrilegious to put a topper on a coating. My personal option is do what you want with your own coating.
      I think this product works awesome with my ceramic coated vehicle. I plan on having to rejuvenate my coating once or twice a year anyways so I typically just wash it how I want and leave the toppers that I like on it. I do a strip wash and clay towel when needed.

  • @Reaper-Jim
    @Reaper-Jim Před 9 dny +1

    SP waterless wash n wax is a product I’ve actually used and still currently have. Furthermore, I’ve actually exchanged emails with Superior Products on this specific product. Unfortunately, because of the information they gave me, I still have an almost full gallon of this just collecting dust on my shelves.
    Is the product good? Yes. Not only that, it’s also cheap. Straight out of the bottle, it’s an excellent cleaner. I think it works well on plastic trim, especially on textured pieces.
    Reasons why I DON’T use this product:
    It streaks bad at anything less than 4:1, no streaks at 5:1 but then even less lubrication.
    Lubrication is very low at anything higher than 3:1.
    Cleaning power is legit at full strength but weakens drastically after dilution.
    Scratches paint (micro-scratch) that builds over time.
    Reasons why I don’t use the waterless wash method:
    It has the highest risk factor of damaging paint.
    It will never fully clean any vehicle.
    It leaves the most residue behind.
    It can’t clean any vehicle that has more than light dirt/dust.
    It’s not efficient, practical or economical.
    I would argue that it’s not entirely effective, either.
    Would I recommend this product? No. Absolutely not. It is little more than a polishing detail spray. It clogs ceramic coatings, defeats traditional wax’s hydrophobic properties and generally mucks up the surface of paint. While it does clean, short term, it will cause scratching over time and extended use. In other words, you don’t notice it on the first few washes.
    Waterless washing is a tremendous theoretical process that simply does not live up to its name, in my opinion. I badly want waterless to work for me. I have given so many products a chance … it’s just not there. Yet. At least, not for me.
    😊😊😊

      Definitely appreciate your insight. I actually have been loving this product on my personal vehicle to keep it clean and do those mid week wipe downs. If you only used a small amount from a gallon how would you know it micro abrades the surface over time? Give it another try at 4:1
      Now obviously this is not a method for dirty vehicles. This is for vehicles that are maintained regularly. I always stress to use your best judgment choosing a wash method that works best for the contaminants currently on your vehicle.
      I haven't noticed too much streaking or anything unless the panel is in direct sun on a hot day like in the video 😅 I do find it to do a great job cleaning without any micromaring / scratching or anything like that. As far as ceramic coated vehicles just driving will clog the pores eventually so you really can get out of having to rejuvenate the coating eventually. For my personal vehicle and for my maintenance clients this is planned into their maintenance schedule.
      Not everyone will enjoy the waterlesss wash method but for those that do I think this is a great product and definitely has its place. You can see in the video it is quite effective and does not leave any residue and cost less than a dollar to wash and protect an entire vehicle.
      Jim I always love your comments and do appreciate them and it is definitely ok we have different opinions and detail a little different. I definitely hope to see your comments in future videos my man 👊🏽

      @@jamiesdetailingHow do I know it scratches the surface while only using a tiny amount of product? Well, it’s diluted in a different container/sprayer. I used it over an 11 month period. I started to see the scratches at the 4 month mark … which is why I contacted Superior Products via email. They were very helpful but ultimately the information they provided caused me to stop using it. Essentially it’s why I stopped using all the waterless wash products I have or had.
      Yes, you’re absolutely correct about “just driving” can clog your coatings. But most coatings are “self-cleaning” that only require a gentle touch. Waterless wash clogs the coating on purpose. No, it doesn’t defeat the coating at all (just the surface tension) but it does affect a coatings performance.
      … and yes, I understand differences of opinions are always going to play a factor. It’s why I usually include the caveat “for me”. I’m not going to pretend to be all-knowing for anything detailer oriented. However, I do have extensive knowledge based on over 3 decades of apprenticeship and practice. Some things are universal, some things are situational. I mean, some things just are what they are.
      IMO waterless washing is the worst method of cleaning a vehicle. IMO, rinseless and/or traditional are the superior methods. Those have just been MY experiences. Until they master the components you need for waterless washing, I will not use the method or recommend it. Like I said, SP waterless wash n wax is not a bad product. But it does not check all the boxes, for me, to properly clean.

      Thanks for checking out the video! I would say the 2 are not really comparable. EZ shine is more just a gloss intensifier with a little wax. You would typically use it after a traditional wash process or rinseless wash. You could even use it after waterless washing your vehicle if you wanted to.
      Wash and wax is basically like waterless wash and EZ shine all in one bottle. It’s more expensive overall but can be great for light contamination on the paint and even washing windows inside and out. It washes and leaves a light protection all at the same time.

      No as long as your vehicle is not gritty And dirty you should be fine. You will need to use your best judgment when deciding what wash method to use on your vehicle. I typically use a waterless method when my vehicle is really just dusty or dirty from being out in the rain, but if it’s getting to the point that my towel isn’t really going to slide across the paint easily with the waterless solution, then I will bump up to a rinseless wash.

      As long as your vehicle is not heavily contaminated and you’re using a decent towel you will be fine. if your microfiber towel is having trouble gliding across the paint, you may need to use a different wash method. Always use your best judgment when deciding how to wash your vehicle for the specific contaminants that are on it at that time.

    • @Reaper-Jim
      @Reaper-Jim Před 7 dny

      To further clarify … ANY method or products used for cleaning vehicles is going to scratch the paint to some degree. It’s scientifically impossible not to. However, the method AND products you use can help to mitigate the damage. That’s the entire point, though. Reducing the risks is paramount. Imo, the safest (in order) methods of washing are: Rinseless, Traditional, Touchless and then Waterless.

      I would argue it highly depends on the level and type of dirt and contamination on your vehicle.
      You can see in some of the closeups in the beginning of the video the contamination is mostly “top down” contamination as most people would call it meaning it is mostly just light dust particles and some film from the rain. If there was to be bottom up contamination meaning dirt and debris from the ground or road I would definitely wash your vehicle with a different method.
      You always need to assess your vehicle and try to wash it with the best method for the type of dirt and contamination on your vehicle.

    It's definitely a cool product. However, if I understand things correctly, you wouldn't want to use this if you have a ceramic coating on your car as it will defeat the purpose of the ceramic. That is, putting a wax on top of ceramic defeats the purpose of the ceramic as the wax is susceptible to water spotting, and pitting from - wax has a lower hardness and lubricity than ceramics. Thoughts?

    • @jamiesdetailing
      @jamiesdetailing  Před 9 dny +2

      @@scionofliberty2967 I totally get you on that and normal yes you technically don’t really want to use a wax on a ceramic coating however my vehicle is ceramic coated and I could care less about the coatings hydrophobics and I have never had issues with water spotting or staining on the coating due to toppers. At the end of the day, I think you can clean your vehicle however you want as long as you’re getting the results that you’re looking for. My personal opinion on ceramic coatings is, I’m simply using it for a sacrificial barrier between the elements and my paint and, my towel and the paint. Hydrophobics and everything else that you get from it is really just a bonus and helps me keep the car cleaner a little longer. You can always do a strip wash to restore your coatings properties at any time.
      When it comes to this specific waterless wash in my opinion it plays very well with with ceramic coatings.
      There is a lot more I could say on this but I’m not going to get into the fact that many coating brands just want you to buy their specific toppers and washes for their specific coating but that’s a whole nother subject in itself.
