Don't Turn Your Shoulders for a Driver Golf Swing
VloĆŸit
- Äas pĆidĂĄn 16. 12. 2022
- Don't turn your shoulders in the golf swing if you want to hit driver longer. Golfer's make this mistake all the time and you won't just lose distance you will struggle to hit driver straight.
In this golf lesson Danny Maude reveals exactly how the shoulders work in the golf backswing AND downswing. Improving how you rotate in the golf swing enables you to do two things:
1. Store energy in the backswing
2. Release that energy at the perfect time at impact
What you will enjoy about these simple golf tips is they can be taken straight to the course because Danny will help you feel and visualise the perfect golf swing.

ABOUT DANNY
-----------------------
Thanks for stopping by. I created this website as a resource just for you to support you on your golfing journey as I know how tricky learning this game can beâŠto say the least!
I personally found learning the game too long and difficult in the early days. I read all the books, watched all the videos but my game was not improving. Then after studying various forms of neuro science, motor learning, psychology and personal development in less than two years I went from struggling golfer to the final stage of the Open Championship.
On CZcams and my personal website (www.dannymaude.com) I will bring you the most up to date training, training that is getting tangible results for my clients right now. I donât know where you are in your golfing journey, you could be just starting out or maybe your body isnât as flexible as it once was or youâve got ambitions to slash your handicap. Wherever you are Iâve created a place here you can learn, share your ideas, ask questions and get all the support you need to enjoy this great game.
Be prepared though. If its a quick fix you are after Im not your man. Here I will give you step-by-step advice that you can take straight to the practice ground and apply to the course but it will require you to get stuck in, screw upâŠa lot, practice some more and then watch those scores tumble
Iâve had the pleasure of coaching thousands of students all around the world and if you are up for the challenge and are ready to get in the gameâŠLETS GO TO WORK!

This golf lesson provides a couple of wonderful drills to help you hit your driver straight. If you are a beginner golfer and are looking for some golf driver tips that are simple and easy to do then you are going to love this.
I will show you the golf swing slow motion so that you can see what you need to do to improve.
We look at 3 things:
1. How to stop slicing your driver
2. How to swing more in to out or how to swing more inside out
3, How to get the correct impact position with driver - Sport
The golf swing should be much easier than we make it. Iâve created a free guide for you here to go with this video. I hope you enjoy www.dannymaude.com/practice-plans-detail?productId=dont-turn-your-shoulders-for-a-driver-golf-swing&widget=hidden

He's the o lying person I listen to from a 170 slice to a 250 slight draw ,that's why I sub to Danny, best coach on this
One of the most knowledgeable & likable golf instructors on CZcams! Thank you, Danny.
Thatâs really kind of you to say Christopher. Really appreciate it
And he's actually English, unlike the rest that all seem to be from Northernland! đ
@@SomethingEveryone đ
You said that right. I learned a lot from this TravisMathew fan...:-)
He stopped my slice and added 20yrs ,most times
I started playing golf at age 68. Danny was my Utube instructor! Heâs the best! Iâm shooting around 85 to 90 now at 71, Danny has been my rock!
Danny, I watched this video several times and repeated the drills over and over. I played today, and for the first time, I hit my drives straight and gained about 25 yards. The simplicity of your explanations and swing thoughts allowed me to finally feel the proper swing and club path. It has been a struggle for years. I canât tell you how much this meant to me. The other benefit is that on the 2 times I sliced it, I knew instantly what I did incorrectly and fixed it with your tips. Iâve used your tips for pitches and green side bunkers found in your other videos with much success. Youâre really the best online instructor Iâve found. Thanks so much for helping me enjoy the game so much more!
Thatâs amazing to hear Fred, thanks for sharing
This guy is THE #1 CZcams coach .
Thorough explanations and easy to follow drills and feels , keep em coming Danny đ
The only channel I follow. No 500 attachments no gimmics. All feel and club/ body interaction and reaction. Best info out there
Really kind of you đ
The graphics/animations are both fun and a great aid to understanding the concepts being presented. Two thumbs up, I hope they are here to stay.
Thanks so much Steve, appreciate the support
Paint splatter tip helps loads!!!! Great ways of describing feels
Hope it helps Jack
Next range session, I'm watching this on repeat! Such a simple but effective visualisation. Thanks Danny!
All the best Ricky
Love how he breaks the swing down into simple understandable components. Excellent video as always. Thanks Danny.
Thanks so much for the feedback Tony
I just started playing golf last year and the way you teach is way easier to understand and practice. Im obsessed with learning this game and itâs very difficult to learn on your own how something is suppose to feel. I struggle with just learning basic mechanics of a golf swing and I am horrible at finding my low point in my swing but. Your videos have helped a ton! Thank you!
Your videos and teaching are incredibly valuable. Thank you and keep them coming.
Once again a great visual and tactile way of simplifying a complex chain of events...perfect.
The paint brush in your right hand âthoughtâ is brilliant, my friend. I sometimes take practice swings with right hand only, to give me the feeling of clubface square to the arch, throughout the swing. Most amateurs cock their right wrist UP, when they should be cocking the right wrist BACK. Cocking the wrists UP gets the club across the line, at the top, with a very cupped left wrist. However, if you cock them BACK, the club will lay on plane, with a flat left wrist. RememberâŠ. Hold the tray with your right hand, at the top. Thatâs the feeling you want. I donât âsaveâ very many videos, but this one is worth saving for sure. Great visual, Danny. I love it!
Thatâs brilliant Jamie, really happy to help
Gotta say these were the videos that made the difference for me. Danny gives you the necessary info in a digestible way, which was an issue for me. But just visualizing the circle and practicing the sequence of movement has made a huge difference.
Wonderful to hear Alex đ
Simple, concise and very easy to follow. Great work as usual Danny. Been struggling getting stuck on the inside with driver mostly so this is a great visual I'll definitely give it a try đđŒ
Absolutely Aaron , think about how your body works to create the circle. Sometimes when I get stuck inside, it can be caused because of a slide of the hips.
Danny this is the best golf lesson I've ever been to or watched. It's all about getting the visuals right and this makes it so simple. Thanks so much
Thanks so much paul
Danny, you so much speak my language, after watching your videos it reminds me of thoughts I use to have when I first started playing almost 30 years ago, but lost going down many different rabbit holes thanks to poor golf instruction and concepts found on the internet. I played yesterday with this videos circular swing thought and something you mentioned made me play the best round I have played in years. That little bit about splashing the paint, was the little piece I have been missing for so long, that little splash is the closing the club face feeling slicers need to feel. Thanks for sharing your swing thoughts, the clearest presentation of golf concepts I have ever seen. Great Job.
Great information Danny, thanks for another quick little swing fix. I love watching how you break down the golf swing into an easier way to understand. One of the best golf instructors on CZcams.
Reply kind Kelly thank you
Dude its insane that this is free. Thank youâ€
Really happy to help
Great advice and explanation! Thanks Dannyđ
Danny this is an excellent visual of the golf swing . Iâve been playing for a while and while a decent size guy canât get my body into the swing for distance . All arms .. this explains the body aspect . Subscribed and watching all your video s. Thanks a million for all the lessons .
Thank you for your easy to remember, duplicate, and engineering building blocks of golf dynamics with superb graphics and camera angles all wrapped up in your joy-kindness. I've learned so much from you body, mind, spirit. Sending you all the best.
You are very welcome Tamara
@DanielMaude you are such a talented teacher. I'm a tutor to HS kids, and know what it is like to come up with multiple ways to explain the same concept. You do this exceptionally well. You've talked about creating a wave and splashing your kids in the pool, and now you've explained it as flicking the paint off of a paint brush onto the screen at the same angle as the circle. Excellent imagery!
Another great lesson Danny, thank you. I've been working on getting my backswing more in line with my shoulder line. My swing tended to be much flatter around the body. My driving is much improved. I can't endorse the splaying of the feet enough either. It's so helpful for turning the upper body. Thanks again for the great content. Have a great weekend.
Thanks so much for the feedback David, all the best
I love the use of visualization in so many of your teachings. Really helps me out!
Thank you appreciate the feedback đ
And another brilliant lesson! These visuals on the screen are very clarifying. Moreover, I needed this âshoulder turning thingâ right now because I was stuck with the wrong shoulder turning. Thanks again Danny.
Pleasure Wim, thank you
After watching this, had to run into the garage and try it out. I think you nailed the secret to a consistent swing. Thanks again Danny. Wishing you and those close to you a very Happy New Year.
Happy New Year and glad it worked! đ
Hi Danny, Always a pleasure watching your tutorials. Spot on with breaking down the shot with a smaller swings. I did this months ago to re align my swing. I agree with many of your viewers comments .... you are one of the best instructors on CZcams! Stay well
Thank you Matt very kind đ
Been following you for a while now Danny and Iâm not the most flexible of people but watching some of your recent videos, they are helping me a lot as Iâm a fader/slice with driver and your simple changes are starting to pay off and Iâm starting to concentrate more now on my irons, brilliant tips and videos đđŒđđœđđœ
Thank you appreciate the feedback and your support đâłïž
Absolutely brilliant Danny. Iâm 62 with a bad back and while I donât drive too badly, I feel as though Iâm steering the ball down the fairway rather than swinging freely. These tips will help me so much because I know Iâm capable of a few extra yards and being a bit more fluent will be a bonus. Thanks for the year of great tips and have a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to you and yours đđ»đŠđș
Thank you Grant đ merry Christmas đ!
This seems an excellent guide as to how to achieve what we golfers strive for. I have found recently that having a little more weight on the lead foot at setup helps before I commence the backswing. Then I try to get my weight shifted back onto the lead side before I commence the downswing, while keeping centred over the ball throughout. There is a lot to master before one achieves consistency, but Danny's guides always help to explain the essentials.
Very kind Johnny thank you
I love the simple visuals you come up with Danny!! They make so much sense!!
Thanks so much Linda
Excellent use of graphics. No glitz, just great information. Thanks !
Thank you Steven, hope the images make it easier to take to the golf course
THIS MAN IS LEGIT!!! So happy I found your videos. I was slicing my driver and was consistently frustrated because I just couldnât figure out why. When I tell you I watched a few videos and took my driver out and just followed the drills as he was doing them and immediately I saw the results on the range and while playing, I am not lying. Iâve been sharing your videos and telling people to watch. Keep it up, I know you will be well over 1 million subscribers very soon. Thank you so much for the awesome content!!
Always love the visual thought aids you create. Thanks as always.
Pleasure Niguel all the best
Brilliant - this video explained in simple terms why senior golfers struggle to achieve solid ball connections.
I am 76 yrs old & a high handy capper however following these tips/ drills has improved my game massively .
Thanks Danny
Thanks John glad they are helping đ

Thatâs my big problem. Overthinking
Mr Danny, you Sir, make the best golf instruction on CZcams. The way you explain things is excellent. Easy to understand and to follow. I wish I lived closer as I'd love a lesson from you.
Thank you Steve appreciate the support đ
Brilliant. I love the simplicity of your descriptions, Danny. As my instructor always says, this really isn't difficult... we (us hacks) just don't know how to connect the dots. "Splattering wet paint on the follow through". I love that so much!! âș
Thanks Mark glad itâs helping đ
such a pleasure to watch your videos. You have helped me immensely. I am 72 year young. Love when you work with your dad. By the way your lesson with your dad on getting out of the bunker was so extremely beneficial. Played with a senior golfer who played from the white tees, maybe 3-4 handicapper. He thought my bunker play was outstanding. Love your KISS principals. In this video you helped me with the visualization on the finish of splashing a paint brush. Made things so clear and easy. Well done.
Hope they help Phil đ
Simply simple, great concept, great coaching. Many thanks for sharing.
You're very welcome Steven
added Infography about swing plane is very helpful to visualise. Good idea đ
Arguably the best golf coach on CZcams. Realistic easy to follow advice for golfers of all ages & abilities. With your help I have shaved my handicap by 15 in just over a year. 66 years old & now playing off 22. Thank you so much.
Thatâs amazing David well done
Great way to look and simplify the arc of the swing. Thanks Danny.
Pleasure Mark happy to help đ
Best tutorials ever. You have helped me heaps, thank you.
The most in depth tutorial on CZcams in every aspect of the game, and itâs free! Thanks Danny love your content mate, would love too see you do a vlog on the course with a few golfers showing a round!
Thanks very kind đ
I've been playing golf for nearly 20 years, and thanks to your videos (plus a fair bit of range time!) Yesterday I used Driver in a competition for the first time ever. It wasn't perfect but kept the ball in play and now have something to build from. Thank you!
Pleasure Tom, really happy to help
Great video. Lots of useful info and ideas for working on the swing.
Glad it was helpful Paul
I have been working out, practicing and training since the golf season ended, in the hope that next season I can golf better and most of all, drive the ball to 230-240. But what stood out to me here was that I have always resisted the idea of turning my head! So today I practiced exactly what Danny demonstrated here and it made a big difference. I can't wait to go to the indoor range next time to see if/how much progress I've made. Great tips, thank you so much! Cheers from Canada.
You are very welcome
Excellent video again Danny! Love the added animated visuals from Leo! Very helpful đ
Thank you John appreciate the support đ
Thanks Danny. I watched this vid and two live lesson replays and my driver was so much straighter today. 11 of 15 fairways in todayâs comp. đ„ł
Wonderful to hear Rodney well done
Had the good fortune to have a lesson with Danny last week. It was excellent. In one hour he improved both my driver and fairway wood distance and consistency. Now itâs up to me to practice what I learned. Excellent lesson.
Great to meet you Graeme, lots of fun
Best lesson I have sent in ages. Looking forward to temperatures rising from -6 in northern England so I can try this out at the range. Thanks Danny

Thanks Jose đ
Thanks once again Danny. Great tutorial. I download all your videos and take you with me to the driving range âłïž I am currently at Leopard Creek. I play the 9 hole par 3 course. Very challenging but the most amazing practice facility. You are helping me to improve my general gamer as a senior high handicapper. Best regards to you from South Africa. Stay warm
All the best Georgie, thanks for your support in 2022
Great video again, of course. The paint brush analogy is great, Iâve been trying to get a swish feeling/sound at bottom and this will build right into that đđđđ

Danny this is the most awesomist video of all the awesome videos you have done. The red squiggly lines is what someone told me I was doing but they didn't tell me how to fix it!
Thatâs great, Kathy, really hope it helps
Good one again Danny. Just moved house so painting and repairs needed to be sorted out. Back to the course this week so thanks for the driver lesson as I am sure to be a little rusty.
You can now practice your golf swing while you paint now Chris
