    In Part 1, I shared some of my experience on how I decided to use the Lumix's GH5s to make a movie. In this Part 2, I will share with you some of my testing work beforehand for making the decision and also the test results.
    (A Hong Kong cinematographer used a mirrorless camera, the Panasonic Lumix GH5s to make a movie last year. Although shooting movies with mirrorless cameras is not new, it is still not very common. People will question the quality of the images, otherwise why must we use those very expensive cameras for movie making? In addition, if it is really implemented, what should be paid attention to?)

      Firstly, thank you very much for your watching and appreciation. Yes, GH5 is also a very good "movie" camera. As I told in my CZcams movie, there were many theatre movies made with the GH5. And you may film it with ProRes RAW now. If we are not hungry for the extra 1 to 2 stops dynamic range, I think GH5 will still be capable of filming for a certain period. Thank you for your support.

    Hello ! Very great videos ! Thanks for sharing your experience :) I always love to see what people can do with cheap cameras !
    I have some questions.
    I own a GH5S and before that I used a lot the BMPCC 4K.
    The graphic that you show at 2:59 was very helpfull for me because I was able to see the repartiton of dynamic above and under middle gray.
    I know that such a graphic doesn't exist for the GH5S but maybe because you used this camera to make a movie (congrats for that !) you know a little more about it.
    If you have some informations it would be very helpfull for me because I think that the repartition of dynamic range is very obscure and strange for this cam and doesn't really match with the Panasonic indications about the native ISO.
    Some people say that the iso 400 and 1600 are the best in V-LOG-L for less noise, some found other results...
    Well I was wondering if you have informations about this subject because I (and some more people) don't have the feeling to master completly this great camera.
    Thank you very much, hope I see your movie one day !
    Cheers from France !

    Hi...great job. Beautiful images!
    Could you tell me which lenses you used on the GH5s? I bought one and have no experience. If you can guide me which lens to buy, I am very grateful. At first it would be just a lens, due to the high price here in Brazil. Something like a 12-35mm 2.8 or clearer. Thank you!

      Sure and it's my pleasure. For this movie, I used the Samyang (Rokinon) Cine series lenses. They are Cine lens and with manual focus. But if you just want one first, the Lumix 12-35 2.8 of course is a good choice. I suggest you try one more cheap but good lens, the Lumix 25mm 1.7, a fast lens for portrait and low light and with good bokeh. I am going to make an episode of other equipment I used in "Embrace". Thank you very much for your support.

    Why didn't you use Zcam E2 camera for your movie "EMBRACE"?

    • @pinghungwong9732
      @pinghungwong9732  Před 2 lety +2

      Answering a question of "why not" is quite complicated, because after "why not Zcam" then another may ask "why not ARRI", and then another ask "why not Canon"? Just the same way of deciding the camera and so, the simple answer is I strictly consider GH5S first because it is matching with the budget. And then I test it if it can satisfy my requirement. I don't try to think if Canon..., or Nikon..., or Zcam... can also do that and then I have to try to test them all in order to reach a decision...too complicated and also too slow. BTW, one of the main reasons I don't ever try to think about the Zcam is, it must be used with an external display...I prefer an all-in-one hybrid for this movie since one of the cameras will always sit on a gimbal. I prefer a simpler configuration. and thank you for your watching

    • @pinghungwong9732
      @pinghungwong9732  Před 2 lety +1

      hi, I haven't tried the Sigma FP yet. but from the paper spec, I will say that it is a quite nice machine... plus today, I don't think there're still any bad cameras. the only difference is how do we explore their good point to compensate for their certain weaknesses...if any. and regarding DNG RAW...actually, I prefer this rather than the ProRes RAW since I can use DNG with Davinci Resolve. Plus, you may try to handle the DNG RAW with Lightroom also...it can give you another look compared to those from Davinci Resolve. Thank you very much
