- As soon as winter takes hold, Joel and Rob head out to the Lake District with their Centrepin Reels, waders and a pouch of maggots.
These are the toughest conditions we have ever fished in, with daytime air temperatures averaging -6°C with plenty of snowfall to make the challenge of catching a River Eden Grayling even greater.
We hope you enjoy this wintery instalment!
All the best from the Albion Angling Team.

Brilliant mate, really enjoyed it! Never sad to see winter go, but miss it all the same
Cheers mate 👍
Would love a tickle of some Dee Grayling 👀
Brilliant bit of sport! Very professional piece of filming, makes me sad to think winter is drawing to a close, and the grayling prospects with it!
Great stuff,
Dave
Cheers Mate!
Whilst 95% of the country moan about the cold, its a stunning time of year as an angler 😅.
@@albionangling how about 99% of anglers! 👍
Very nice video buddy. Makes me sad that winter is almost over
Thanks mate 😀
I know! We'l be chucking flies in shorts a t-shirt in no time!
Centrepin ASMR 🤤
I have some setting tweaks to improve the slow motion centrepin shots for our next outing. You just wait mate 😉.
Great vibe to your video mate, good edit too👍🏻
Cheers dude!
Looking forward to getting more wildlife footage into the next edit, there's a certain snake you might recognise 😉
Great to see the wildlife in fantastic surroundings. I have a River Eden on my doorstep but just a tiny river in comparison.
Thanks Russ 😀, glad you enjoyed it.
Will be making a real effort to get more wildlife in the upcoming videos for sure!
Honestly; the smaller rivers are some of my favourite sport.
Preparing for spring Tench now though, I can see you've had some lovely Tincas!
Cheers,
Joel
Nice location, I had four grayling and a trout from the river Colne, Huddersfield on Tuesday, beautiful fish in a not so picturesque location
Strange reading this comment just now, i drove over the Colne twice today on my way to meet Niall and Jamie at Raygill Trout Fishery! I've never had the pleasure of fishing it, but I hear its got some big Grayling in it?
Cheers,
Joel
I’ve had seven grayling out of the Yorkshire Colne over the last 4/5 months but only about 8 to 10 oz, I think they could go to 1lb+ but that’s about it. I believe the Lancashire Colne has some better sized ones.
Well done chaps.Surprised the line got through the guides with out them freezing up.
Ha ! Could he be pulling our leg about -6 deg???? Was the net frozen in the air? No further questions, your honour! 🤣👍
We decided not to publish a video of both of us breathing on the rod rings after every 3rd cast 😅. Rest assured, it was not a smooth process!
The temperature was -8 when we left at crack of dawn in the morning, and it sat as -6 most of the day!
oh they froze sure enough. 😂wasn't too bad on the Korum Glide, but Joel struggled on the super thin tip of the Drennan Acolyte
I'd give you a high five, but I lost three fingers to frostbite.
On to the next one my friend 👍🎣
Heard there's some proper dog dace in a Cotswold River 🤫
