- Trotting with a R W Youngs Rapidex centerpin reel on the river Wharfe 2 days before the season ended. Great morning with several grayling caught between us, June 15th can't come quick enough!

@@jasonridyardhome yes just what I was thinking! We’ve trotted here once before in Feb this year, got loads of grayling but no trout….they’ve got to be in there though! Tight lines mate
Do you plum depth first to get rough idea or can you run threw shallow ?
Hello mate. Personally I just have a guess at the depth and then keep making the rig longer until I start touching bottom. I then make it a an inch or two shallower than that, usually does the trick.
I've seen people plum depth when trotting but I think this is too much of a faff in fast flowing shallow rivers like this. Depth changes so frequently you'll never get it bang on anyway. Hope this helps 👍
