TENCH Fishing using handcrafted (BeeMouse fishing) LIFT FLOATS

  • We've teamed up with James from BeeMouse fishing to help test prototypes of his new range of handcrafted floats including a real standout star of the show, 'The Lil' Tinca'. The float performed immensely well, catching multiple species on different venues with different challenges, consistently delivering that well balanced 'lift bite' that all Tench anglers dream of!
    This episode was all about catching tench using the traditional lift float method whilst enjoying the onset of spring in peaceful surroundings with our loyal fishing hound, Tarn. This was a real challenge and we had to fish our way through multiple species using a finely tuned method (that proved deadly on its day) before hitting the Tincas.

    A big thank you to ‪@soultrader57fishingandmusi25‬ for providing the music used in this video. Check his channel out for some traditional angling, creative music compositions and plenty of tips on how to catch.

      We are working on the second installment as we speak, we've had plenty of tench from the commercials but we are aiming for a tench from a more wild water to finish it off, its proving a challenge! Can't get through the bream, we are well over 150lb of bream between us now 🙈

    James I thank you for the donation to the barbel masters.
    I am part of the committee that will be running it this year. Great fishing on a super mixed fishery. Lovely care and video. Tight lines.

      Thanks for the kind feedback on the video Gary. Currently working near Southwell, crossed the Trent a couple of times today, never fails to strike fear into me, such a beast of a river!!

    What a wonderful video, and such a change from all the Biggest is the best type. The way you fished the lift is 100% spot on. just enough weight, just.

      Thanks mate! We are currently working on the second episode of this Tench On Lift Float series. We've not struggled to find the tench on the commercials but what we are still chasing is the coveted wild water tench, Crabtree style. We are going all out on wild waters, raking swims and tracking them down. Its a slow burner this one!

      We just love being out catching fish mate 😀. Always great catching a big'un but its not the be all and end all! We have to balance our work/business/parenting responsibilities too, so no point in getting hung up on having to catch specimens, enjoy the free time when you can 🎣

      Was great fun learning how to finely tune the lift rig. Its been deadly on my secret crucian pond this week, been using a BMF porcupine quill float, so so sensitive ! Had close to 10 crucians in under an hour this afternoon 😀

    Well worth the wait! Super video Joel! It obviously pays to have a little Tinca🤣
    My tench sessions have so far been dominated by bream, not even the sniff of a Tench.

    Beutiful floats but given my ability to break them I think they'd be left sat on a display shelf. I'm surprised that rig worked as a lift rig evening the distance between the weight and the hook. I've only used it with 2-4" between the shot and the hook.

    • @albionangling
      @albionangling  Před rokem +1

      Funnily enough, we were talking yesterday about the floats potentially being used as display pieces. Always prefer to see them being used on the water where they belong!
      Its a good point you make mate, we often tweaked the lengths of line between the terminal float stop and hook depending on what we were dealing with, the big bream were picking the baits up with such confidence that the longer hooklengths weren't an issue. You're right though, I did make mine shorter when I was picking up some of the smaller, more finicky Roach. The beauty of the rig is that the float stops easily slide up and down, so fine tweaking is a matter of seconds without damaging the line 😀
      All the best,
      Joel

      @@albionangling I have some display floats. They have been damaged on one side so I display the good side.
      I can't have been paying proper attention when the rig was described, but having watched again I see the hook length isn't attached to the swivel along with the shot as I thought.

    • @albionangling
      @albionangling  Před rokem +1

      @Jorvik Angler we did start by using the standard fixed hooklength attached to small swivel but then we found a Drennan video with Martin Bowler explaining his lift rig which only uses float stops on the mainline and the swivel acts as a free running weight (with inch or two of line with shot attached). As soon as we tried it, we never went back!
