Wow, this was so incredibly enlightening. I’m an Ellie-Jean sub and just watched her vid about this concept you created and I have to say that this makes so much more sense to me than any kibbe, style essence, trend report, etc that I have ever watched or listened to. I knew immediately that I was ruby bc for me it is all about comfort. I feel uncomfortable in a lot of trends, dressy clothes, and accessories. I might find them visually appealing, but I don’t feel like myself in them. So many things I buy just hang in my closet collecting dust. They’re too fussy or scratchy or tight. This has been life changing, honestly. I feel like I have a true starting point to begin my style journey that actually makes sense to me!!! Thank you so much🙏💜

I’ve been going back and forth between moonstone and ruby but I just did the most LD thing a few days ago. I cut bangs, not thinking they would look great but because I wanted to feel cocooned by my hair. I’ve realized I have high security/safety needs right now and I often use cozy, soft and baggy clothes to achieve that support through my wardrobe. But especially as the weather is warming and I’m starting to look for a new job, I knew I needed some other way to create that sense of coziness in my body. I usually hate summer clothing as well as office wear because I feel so exposed. So I’m excited to have this extra little security boost via my new haircut. This video resonated with me so much and when you said “cocoon” I felt so seen!

I love your comment so much! In fact, I’ve had a similar experience with cutting hair or bangs as well a couple of times 😄
But not only that. Couple of the most important and constant things for me in style is intimidation and high-effort. After having bleached my naturally dark hair for couple of years I got so drained and exhausted by this look.
So, when the roots grew out to approximately 10cm, I’ve just… put o bloody scarlet red permanent colour on the bleached area. And let me tell you, my self-esteem grew and I felt like my best self for the first time in a while ❤

That is so interesting. I got bangs three days ago. But for a totally different reason. The last few month i felt good in my body and decided that it is time to turn up the authenticity and signal some french girl relaxed selfconfident femininity

@@bjulalula9537 this is so lovely! I love French girl style sm. Although my main motivation was the comfort, I had like a subtle dark academia inspiration but was also excited for some cohesion with the French girl-ish styles I gravitate to in summer. Just figuring out how to ground myself a bit in the breezier months.

This was fantastic for a ruby girly who keeps accidentally sliding into that moonstone mindset.
I love the ease and directness of your Instagram posts (they are also looking sooo pretty) but as a girl who is Obsessed with your system in the way others are obsessed with kibbe or whatever, I do love a deep dive long form video. You should make them 10 hours long, I will watch them all ;)

Rita thank you for this video. I am bothering you all the time, because I am so lost, I am sorry for that 🥹. But after watching this, I teared up. It’s like a relief hearing that there is this kind of approach. I dressed my whole life with the moonstone logic, but something didn’t feel right all the time. I think, it is the fear of not fitting in and showing who you really are, that is holding me back. That’s why you guessed me moonstone!! Because that’s how people perceive me. But that’s not me, that’s why I couldn’t find my style. Because my style logic was based on the external. I will try the ruby key logic now and I will find out, if my intuition is right or if I will still be lost. Thank you Rita, you’re so inspiring!! 💗

The description of the Ruby Key reminded me of all sorts of different Slavic epics, where, depending on the life situation of the hero and his emotions, the weather around and the landscape changed, and to increase the effect, adjectives were repeated twice, with an increase in words. I have no idea how it would sound in English, but in general this is such an exaggerated description. It can be described as something totally filled with this adjective. It is also described as a tautology, but this tautology is very bright.

Thank you for this Video Rita! I resonate so much with the Ruby Style Key/LD!
Here are my notes, maybe it helps someone:
    Ruby Key Style Logic:
    - Clear Connection between Inner World and the pieces I choose
    - What am I in keywords:
    - What is my internal landscape:
Use this as a starting point to create an outfit
-> Without this connection u easily fall into the "Lost Girl" Trap
    - The Endgoal is to center yourself in who u r, to not get distracted by all the influences of the outer world and feeling secure and confident in ur body
    Style techniques are:
    - Listening to ur body sensations, how things feel for u, what feels right, fitted or loose, for example
    - Showing and hiding, being seen but feeling secure
    Create Outfit:
First think of the outside parameters, like the season and the environment,
Than think how u can address these things with prioritizing your inner experience

Wow, this feels life changing for me 😍 when I was was a teenager I never cared for what others think about my style. I dressed totally the way I wanted and felt good in. But with growing up, moving to a big city I kind of lost myself and suddenly outer appearance became so important to me, but never made me feel great on the inside... Last year I bought a piece of clothing that was out of my comfort zone (I thought) and it make me feel great! I love it so much and I want to replicate this feeling for my whole wardrobe. I then started to get into kibbe and kitchener etc. but it felt so theoratical. But now I found your videos I nearly teared up because I feel like you understand me and my inner teenager and what I really really want to dress and more important feel like❤ thank you so so much for your Work, your videos and giving feelings a so much needed place in fashion 🤗
And I started kind of a diary of writing down each day what landscape or image I feel like this day and it will become such a nice and inspirational book of my inner world and now it feels so much easier to think about my wardrobe and I'm looking forward to what my wardrobe will be looking like in one year 🎉 greetings from Germany ❤

This really helped me figure out this is definitely my logic, and I think I've realised the wildflower archetype suits me best (I need vibrant colour or I feel sad, I need volume/ drama and interest or I feel sad, but I also need my clothes to comfort/ protect me during the day and give me the energy I want to express). It's a lot of pressure on my outfit (and I have a huge closet). It is quite liberating to think it's ok to want different things on different days. I don't have a signature style although maybe I do have a signature colour palette. Anything minimalistic makes me feel invisible. I always have strong feelings about my clothes! Thank you for bringing a sensory approach to clothes (and accessories), it's so true!

Oh! I use colour this way too!! I have a lime jumper on today as a rebellion against the cold and mistiness of winter. It's also a confidence thing as I've been playing with colour lately. I've never shied away from colour, but I've always worn cool colours when my colour season is spring/autumn so vibrancy over cool. I've been building towards lime as the peak colour in my palette. It's a statement colour, but I also have colours that I use when I need to withdraw slightly for a safety net..I have a huge range of creams and softer.colours. I'm quite minimalist with my look, but definitely use colour to put me out there.but what you said about the wildflower literally smacked me in the face

Rita, I have always dressed according to the Ruby key and you're so right! Especially what you said about combining your inner picture with the sensory experience, I definitely always wear pieces with a lot of character but still like to feel "cloaked" by my clothing if that makes sense. Even before I heard you say it, I thought to myself that I wanted to feel like a tropical beach and a vibrant fruit today 😂 and I've styled myself like that with an orange dress and colourful makeup! 🍊

Excellent. The internal landscape image just brought it ALL together for me. I had these keywords from other style channel advice that were good but not quite…. Having an image just brought it all into focus. That was my missing piece. You’re a GENIUS Rita!!!!

  • @Allesea159

This is very interesting! I am currently in therapy and learned that I'm a very emotional person, but that while growing up I learned to hold that side of me back. Now I have to learn to trust my intuïtion and emotional side more in making choices, because it will help me grow into my own person. I think this actually might be a very interesting style key for me to see if I can develop that inner world approach more and trust it more as well. So to connect with my own intuïtion and internal landscape and to 'feel' if an outfit it right is a very hard for me to do, because I always doubt myself in that part, but it also kinda feels like that's what I'm supposed to do, because outside of the weather and practicality I'm not really taking inspiration from others or places, I don't really take just practical stuff like: will I sweat like a pig if I wear this thing today? or I think I might walk alot, so heels might not be the best choice here unless I want my feet to die. And I don't think that's what you mean by the external landscape haha.
Could be an interesting question for the style keys in general too: do you pick one with what you already know to be or with growth in mind? (this is way too generalized, but I think you get my point)

I'm pretty sure I am Amethyst, but I do appreciate some Ruby style logic, as well, especially in situations where I am uncomfortable. I tend to be "overdressed" for most situations because that's what makes me feel most myself - elevated, put-together, and creative. I might throw together a very casual outfit because I'm not feeling inspired or particularly connected to where I'm going, but then I also don't feel like myself, so I'm starting to encourage myself to add accessories and properly style my hair even on casual days so I feel most like myself. The age-old (I think it's Coco Chanel's phrase) adage of removing one accessory doesn't do it for me - I usually need to add one lol. Struggling with decision fatigue (AuDHD) sometimes makes getting dressed in a way where I feel my inner world is expressed difficult.
Currently, I'm taking steps to coordinate my wardrobe in a new way that places emphasis on things that go well together instead of by item type + rainbow order. It's exposing a lot of the "color worlds" I have created and textures I like to pair together. I.e. the House of Sunny Night Tripper knit cardigan + high waisted, wide leg, exposed zipper linen pants in the deep green shade from the cardigan + multiple coordinating tank tops/tees to go underneath + tie-waist linen cotton shorts in the same green shade for warmer days. I even have milky white cloud earrings on a huggie hoop that's the same gold shade as the zipper of the pants, and little blue cloud studs for when I'm not feeling the hoops or for my second piercing. All of these items were bought completely separately over the course of four years, but I've created a little capsule of coordinating items over time that independently and together express what's inside.
gosh this was long... so sorry 😂

I had placed myself RD previously because it felt like I "should be," but I am rewatching these and am realizing I relate more to left issues than right issues. The jewelry thing is me to a T. My mom who makes jewelry is sometimes bummed I don't wear much jewelry and when I do I am picky. It's gotta feel right on my body and when it doesn't I don't bother. The cocoon makes a lot of sense too!

You must be "back home" and I am glad you made the trip successfully! You look GOOOOORGEOUS! Also: I might be more down than we originally thought. I have been playing with the Enigma archetype by basically "dressing like a Ruby" using the Ruby key concept and then adding my own flavor of "up". It happens to be artisanal jewelry. I am so happy, and feel so amazing. I am enjoying the Enchantress archetype, my home base as you saw it, in my environment setting; my studio space is very curated and "on purpose", with every little nuance placed just so. As a massage therapist, I find it is more effective than my clothes. Style and how I approach it just isn't what I am wearing, but my personal spaces as well. I am excited to know that my intuitive and sensate based approach is an actual THING and that you are putting words to it so very adroitly!

I resonated with your system so much as a ruby because I feel understood and seen. Style is so personable for me, sensory is such a thing for me, I have to feel it first. I love nature and love for it to show up in my color palete in the form of sunset, sunrise, beach ect. My background and being this creative person influences my style too. Is there a distinction between using how you feel as a starting point vs. how you WANT to feel in your system? I'm a bit confused, I guess. I might not wake up feeling elegant, but I do find that when I WANT to feel that way, choosing my outfit accordingly works really well for me. Is this left-down? Sorry if this seems obvious. I'm possibly (see also: very likely) being too literal here. lol.

      @StyleThoughtsbyRita  Před rokem +3

please don't apologize at all - I am sure you're not the only one with this Q and I should have explained it better. It's a bit of both but the style logic is about the feeling you WANT to connect with. So let's say that you've been feeling really down and discouraged lately, you want to wear an outfit that makes you feel strong and confident again - you've "succeeded" if your outfit makes you feel even just a bit of that strength and confidence
