- In this video I introduce the new project truck / tow rig. It is a 2012 GMC Sierra 3500 that is in pretty dang good shape minus the broken crankshaft lol. Hope you enjoy!

Once you have cabin clean and changed cabin filter have you tried an air con bomb as there called in uk? Basically a pressurised can of odour neutraliser/ bacteria killer let it off in the cabin on recirculated air flow and it will be nice and fresh in there after. Looks like it would definitely be worth it 👍🏻

I strongly recommend ditching the jump seat and getting the big center console. I swapped mine in my 2015 silverado. All in due time tho bud. Im stoked af that you are doing a lml.

Finally someone with a sick tow rig. it's funny you say the crank shafts aren't that common in LML's. The guys in the LML group on FB swear it's just as bad as the CP4. I think it's just the ol' squeaky wheel deal.

Duramax tech here and the LML crank shafts made me a lot of money! Those crankshaft are Glass. Hope you don't have to remove to balancer 😂
Where do they typically break? Mine started shaking like crazy and balance rates are +15 on #8 cylinder and -15 on #7 cylinder. No knocking and the injectors looked like trash when we pulled them so I'm hoping its injectors and not the crank.
@@jakerisner4139 they break at the front connecting(cyl 1&2) rods bearing lobe. I would have my helper crank it over a look. If the balancer didn't move we replace the engine. Those balance rates are not that bad. You probably have a failed injector. Do you know the frp at idle?
@@Jamesashleycoyle I don't remember off hand. I know i checked desired vs actual FRP and they were spot on. I checked the balancer while running and it was perfectly fine. I also checked the oil filter and it was free of any metal. Crossing my fingers its all good. I did just purchase an ATI balancer for it. Would you recommend pinning the crank too?
@@jakerisner4139 if the actual and desired is matching, injector would make sense. For the ati balancer I'm not familiar with them to be honest.

I've got a 2015 LML in a Denali. I've heard the horror stories of the LML. I've also heard it helps to burn good fuel. I buy all my fuel locally from a small station that moves a LOT of diesel. It's a part of a larger. chain that has truck stops all over the area. Any suggestions on other ways to improve the life expectancy? I've also read that a lift pump can help, but they aren't cheap.
Lift pump and fuel conditioner
Lift pump is cheap compared to a new engine. There are other options besides fass and airdog, too.

Idk, inside of the cab smells good does not smell like mold or mildew. 🤷
@@Whitt_Built because its dry now. Once you start getting moisture in the cab it will come back to life. Use TileX to clean it. You might have to pull the ducts to get all the spores.

A Diesal mechanic told me to never clean/polish any of his tools..... They will rust! I replied, why not buy quality tools? I spit shine mine and have no problem with suface rust. I live in a very humid area. Clean = Quality.
