Mirror Carp Catch and Cook! - Sight Fishing for Carp - Carp Fishing Tips

  • I tried my luck at a river I had never fished before, and quickly realized that carp had completely taken over. So if you cant beat 'em eat 'em! I put my carp fishing skills to the test and sight fished for them using a bread ball on a small hook. I ended up catching a handful of big carp, including a small mirror carp that I caught and cooked right on the riverbank! Other than the abundance of small bones that were all throughout the meat, the fish itself did not taste bad and would compare it with any other white meat fish i've had. So is Carp really a trash fish?

    Most carp species can be invasive but the sucker you caught was a native fish that belongs in that river and doesn’t effect the the river in a negative way. Pretty much before you kill them know what they are.

    • @SamTheFishNerd
      @SamTheFishNerd Před 3 lety +2

      Untill a few years ago, you HAD to catch and kill these fish. They are/were very invasive and the DWR pulls up thousands in nets and kills them.

  • @AlexetJosy

    Carp are the same way lobsters and crabs they are all bottom feeders. But for weird reasons some people decided that some were for "fine cuisine" and others were trash.
    Also bottom feeders are essential in the ecosystem of a river. They clean the remains from the bottom but also when small are great food for bass.
    Lastly thanks for the great video!

      @bassntroutfishing  Před 3 lety +3

      I know it’s weird. However in utah there’s lots of places where they’re invasive. The DNR nets millions of pounds of carp out of Utah lake every year where carp are 70% of the biomass. But other than that I think they’re a great fish!
