It's nice you can tell the order in which they were actually filmed based on how Alex prepared for subsequent splashes
I’m guessing Hugh, noel, Lolly or Mel, joe, in that order
If you look closely 4:26 , you'll notice the exact moment where dangerous waters became the priority put above Hugh's hostile height discernment
So maybe lolly or Mel went before Noel
Plus the sun, & him wearing gloves
@@kurtsudheim825 They're not filmed on the same day. Contestants will film a bunch of their tasks back to back and the day each contestant does theirs is different to fit around their busy schedules.
The only ones filmed together are the group ones, and even then the two groups do them at different times, when the 2/3 are available to work together.
I love how joe climbing a ladder has tons of safety equipment but old man hugh climbs a random beam with a brick tucked in his shirt without so much as a glove in sight

God the overarching crow story of this task is genuinely one of my favourite moments through the show's life. This is definitely a top 10 task from the show.

Hugh with a brick in his shirt led me to concern that he was trying to be the heaviest possible from a 5 meter dive into a pool

Noel bossed the whole series. One of the few contestants that combined bants with skills all the way through.
The telescope thing was genius. They all read the task through it for no reason.
Perhaps the real splash was the friends we made along the way.

Joe throwing the bowling ball full force at the bucket and watching it shatter is me trying out anything new for the first time.
That telescope is a perfect example of how easy it is to condition people.

Since the task said "highest splash" not "biggest splash" my first instinct was to be a smart alec and write the word "splash" on a piece of paper and then get that on the roof somehow, thus getting the splash that I wrote on the paper as high as the roof...was kinda hoping someone would go a non water route cuz of that lmao
I was thinking the same. My initial idea was write the word splash on a tennis ball or something and throw upwards from a high point.
Honestly Mel should have won based on that too. She created a splash at the highest height. Just because her splash wasn't very large didn't mean it was lower than the others.
They will not be allowed to get on the roof. Every series someone tried to get on the roof.
@@craigcrissman4651 From what it sounds like, they did measure it based off of that. Noel's splash just went higher (5.1 meters) than the spot on the clock where Mel sprayed/splashed (4.5 meters)
5:32 That is the most informative demonstration of the use of metric in the UK I've ever seen. When you need yards, you switch to meters instead. It sounds like the, let's not talk about it and hope our children do better, approach.

When Noel gathered multiple buckets I was quite puzzled, until it became clear he was testing different techniques. Then I was like Noel is doing SCIENCE! My man!
I've officially seen all of taskmaster series, and watched probably all of compilations. What ever shall I do with my life till COC2 and season 12?

I mean, there's a river nearby, someone should've jumped into it to make a splash
My family made a plan to force Alex to do it
But I imagine the river is of a lower altitude than the house, thus making it a lower splash.
It is easier to throw some water in the air and then hit it upwards with a table tennis paddle, or any flat object really
Or go to any 3 story building and dump a cup of water on the floor
My first thought for this task was "I'm going to get onto the top of the roof with a cup of water, and make a splash with my hand/finger while I hold it as high as possible."
Noels splash was glorious.

I thought so too, but somebody else observed that Lolly was pointing the hose away from the house when she was on the ladder, so it missed entirely.
Noel gives just enough of a shit to have it ALWAYS be surprising when he wins, but he wins a lot of the time. It's something only Noel could pull off.

Lolly deserved better. There’s no way that water wasn’t also hitting her, the building, or Alex. Not to mention that it hits the hose as it is sprayed and so is technically already a rebound.
Plus, but that logic, the boys should all have their heights based on the bucket height, not how high the water flew up.
My mom's plan for this challenge would have been to make Alex do a cannonball into the river nearby
Seems like if they're measuring from where the water hit something, then Noel's should also be measured from where it came back down and hit the bucket (or all the way down to the ground as well)? If they're measuring how high the water went before it hits something, then Lolly's should have counted!

I have only seen half of it so far, but it occurs to me that if you climbed up on the house and splashed water out of a glass held over your head, you'd have the highest splash of anybody thus far.

I was expecting a cannonball into a pool kind of splash honestly.
My first thought was a cannonball off the bridge into the nearby river, but the contestants smartly observed that nothing prevented them from raising the source of the splash to add to the overall height.

What was the whole point of climbing that pole if you spray up on the clock? You could've done that from the ground pointing to the clock.
She was initially just going for a high spray, but then realised while she was doing it that it needed to strike an object.

I'm the lunatic that would have went into the roof and cause a splash on the top of the chimney, then argue that it wasn't clear in the instructions if the height of the splash itself was high or the height of where the splash happens.

You know at any point they could have walked over and read the task.
I was going to call foul on Noel because they measured from the ground not the bucket, but I suppose some of those drops splashed off the wall and him so the crow did indeed win assuming he was as high as the clock. Hard to tell. I take taskmaster very seriously.
I think, in Noel's case, the splash had already taken place as the force driving the water out of the bucket, so no additional contact was needed. Lolly and Mel needed contact because their original driving force was a spray, not a splash. The task was also the "highest" splash, not the "tallest", which would be more likely arguable as the height of the splash itself, rather than the overall altitude reached. A 1-inch splash on top of a 5-story building is technically "higher" than a 10-foot splash at ground level, even though the latter is undeniably "taller" than the former, for example.
TM is meant to be taken seriously. That's what makes it fun! Supreme effort at the mercy of Greg's capricious will.
@@michaelccozens Thats interesting. I don't think I'd ever interpret "highest splash" as splash at the highest altitude if I were the taskmaster. But that's why you need Greg's clammy but firm hand at the helm.
@@Lowekinder Greg seems to accept other interpretations if the contestants can make a persuasive-enough argument. It encourages lateral thinking and more-varied approaches, which is more entertaining. There's a fair bit of semantic wrangling over the seasons. Great fun!

I truly want nothing more in life than to be a contestant on this show, but theres no way at this point ill become famous enough to even come close to being on it
It would be a pretty-fun group activity if someone could franchise the concept for the general public, a la escape rooms. Would be hard to keep the tasks a surprise, though, and insurance would probably have a fit.
If they had put there thumb over the hose and sprayed it, would that have counted? That’s technically a splash

By this definition of a splash, Noel should have lost, because raising the point of the splash doesn't change the height above that point the splash goes.

Nobody's sure about Noel. He's an absurdist. He may very well roll a joint to get the "highest" splash.
i feel like if Noel hadn’t put his bucket on the ladder, Mel would’ve won. they measured hers from the ground up and Noel’s from the bucket rim up, but the bucket was a few feet off the ground. the measuring stick started at the ground. so was his splash really that high? we’ll never know
Well, that’s exactly why he put it on the ladder. Height was the factor in question, after all.

Technically, wouldn't the water be splashing off the lip of the hose?
I think that one would be hard to argue, given the definition they used. If water was splashing off the lip, you'd get quite a lot of divergent spray from the mouth of the hose, as opposed to a contained stream of water.
Did they film all of Noel's things on one day, or does he just wear that yellow skeleton jumper every time he shows up?

The hoses were a spray, so the spray needed to hit something to splash off it. The water in the buckets was already splashing off whatever was dropped into them (or the sides of the bucket, or other parts of the water, if you want to get technical).

Power lines are typically, at least here in the US, waterproof unless there's a defect.
Sure, but, considering how they were doing the spraying, you really wouldn't want to be the one that finds the defect. I can't imagine the show's insurance would be too happy to let them make the attempt, either.
I'm not understanding why Mel's was good but Loly's wasn't. Surely she got some water to "splash" on the roof. That's what I would have argued.
Loly's hose didn't face the roof, it was facing the opposite way. None of the water could've splashed on the roof (very clear @ 6:31)
