In this Broadcast Award-winning, BAFTA and Emmy Award-nominated entertainment show, Taskmaster tyrant Greg Davies (Man Down, Cuckoo), with the help of his loyal assistant Alex Horne (The Horne Section and the show’s creator), sets out to test the wiles, wit and wisdom of five hyper-competitive comedians.
Comedians that have risked life, limb, and dignity in the hope of making the Taskmaster proud so far include: Frank Skinner (The Frank Skinner Show), Mel Giedroyc (The Great British Bake Off), Romesh Ranganathan (Asian Provocateur), Hugh Dennis (Outnumbered), Sally Phillips (Bridget Jones’ Diary), Rose Matafeo (Edinburgh Comedy Award Winner 2018), and Russell Howard (The Russell Howard Hour). Unaware of what awaits them in each wax-sealed envelope, only one competitor can become the victorious owner of His Royal Task-ness’ golden head and be crowned the next Taskmaster Champion. - Komedie
it's amazing how much mileage they got out of Paul Sinha being, maybe, the only contestant in TM history to plan his tasks quietly
Rhod
@@chelseawildflowerloftinwey1945 Rhod does not plan quietly
Not to mention putting a man with Parkinson's through a ton of tasks requiring fine motor skills and coordination. :p
@@chelseawildflowerloftinwey1945 Rhod is sometimes quiet before he acts, but he doesn't plan.
@@Myzelfa I disagree
Iain's attempt is the very definition of expectation vs reality.
The two most common mistakes people seem to make with Mentos/Diet Coke are 1) using regular Coke instead of Diet, and 2) pouring the Diet Coke in advance. You don't get the same reaction with regular Coke and you need the carbonation of freshly opened soda. I once saw a video where a guy filled an above ground pool with Coke Classic and then threw in a bag of Mentos. Nothing happened, because in the time it took to fill the pool, it went completely flat.
that's equal parts heart breaking and hilarious, like Iain's attempt
Slightly warm up your mentos. I found it really helps as well. Don't know why, but to really did.
Also, in Ian's case, he made another rookie mistake, which was, he forgot that soil absorbs liquid. He should've dropped the mentos in there first and then poured the coke last, but my man did the opposite and then proceeded to give a little speech before dropping the mentos. Took too long.
@@dabluedevil1000 and his pipe was too high...if it had been smaller, the eruption would've looked much better, and might actually have reached the earth mound
@@dabluedevil1000 also one detail to add in iains attempt is that he didnt have a big hole for the coke to come out of. All he had was that small hole that the string came thru
S8 has a special vibe to it, chiller than other series but consistently quietly hysterical
Much like Joe himself
@@lukanisic6591 exactly
Joe: Simple, but highly effective
Lou: Clever outside-the-box thinking
Paul: Unorthodox, but got the job done
Sian: A good example of finding a loophole in the task
Iain: *We don't talk about what happened to him*
Did you get a stroke mid writting of their named or is that really how they write their names
@@blackwiza24 What were the things Lou put in it?
@@blackwiza24 Iain is a scottish name, Ian is an anglicized version of it. Sian is a welsh name. They didn't come up with the spelling of their names, they already exist.
@@Hedgehog4real lmfao I wouldnt be able to say those words then
@@blackwiza24 Spot the Murican.
I love the setting of Lou's volcano. Greg's picture behind the volcano makes him the god of fire.
I'm surprised Iain got even that much, I was just getting more and more down as I saw him waste the CO2 with pouring the coke and standing around proclaimating
'We've all been there' - I can't xD
When the TASKMASTER can't ridicule you...something has gone wrong.
7:35 THERE WAS NO VOL😡 there was no vol😠 There was no vol😔
I am sorry for Iain, but if this didn't happen to him we wouldn't have one of the best moments in Taskmaster.
I remember Ian came in as kinda a jerk and this definitely humbled him. Good on him for turning it around though. Nice to see his character arc
Iain: "Wait, come back, I swear my volcanoes normally erupt more than this!"
Hubris squashed. Squashed. Such satisfying schadenfreude.
I just now caught the awkward handshake between Lou and Joe at the end
watching this video triggered an entire series 8 rewatch
Just make a dormant volcano. Any volcano that doesn't erupt is so much better than one that does.
"There is no Vol"
Is this dedicated to all champion of champions?
That handshake at the end is mood
I love Joe so much.
These are actually amazing exercises, if you think about it. I fancy myself being skilled at building things, but I never get off my butt to build anything. A sudden task and time limit would do wonders for innovation this were sprung on people randomly throughout their lives.
Wow! All those points. How Magma- manimous of him!
I really enjoyed all the different ideas for a volcano. Greetings from La Palma
I like when the post the tasks with all the contestants doing the task
Yeah, the mentos and coke thing isnt a chemical reaction so adding more isnt going to make it go off harder
It's just the little pores on the surface of the mento agitates the carbonated drink
huh?
@@fargotua13 he tried to drop a whole bag of mentos into the soda thinking it would cause a big explosion following the same logic as adding fuel to a fire
But the mentos cause the coke to explode because the surface of the candy is covered in little pores and bumps that agitate the drink as it falls through it and releases all the co2 rapidly
In effect the mentos are just shaking up the soda
More mentos means more surface area of pores. You're just flat out wrong. By your logic adding a small fraction of a mento would create the same reaction as a full one because things like surface area don't exist to you.
Mentos have hundreds of tiny imperfections (nucleation sites) on their surface. Dropping Mentos into coke or lemonade allows the dissolved gas within the liquid to come out of the liquid super-fast at these nucleation points on the Mentos surface.
Obviously adding more mentos would cause a more violent reaction. THERE WOULD BE MORE NUCLEATION SITES. He failed because he poured the soda allowing it to flatten. The carbon bubbles already escaped. You ARE AN IDIOT. IDIOT ALERT. OP IS A HUGE DENSE IDIOT.
Iain made a volca-no
Joe Thomas was brilliant in this series 💟
The first thought that came to my mins when they read the task was draw an actual volcano and see if they’d deliver. Like lava, obsidian, and a heat proof suit.
Anyone else wish they could get a crack at this show? I'd love to. It'll never happen, but I'd love to. This and QI.
There's a board game!
Me too! QI and this show is just the best TV ever. Onl Britain could come up with it.
@@tnmoe- It's not the same, tho.
@@brianm6337 - Of course not. Still cool though. Maybe get drunk and stoned, cook up some chicken fingers?
Perks of being a British comedian, once you get on one panel show you get on like 15 of them, and then you're set
Always amazing videos from here, i love this show
iain came very close to crying
Baking soda, vinegar, food coloring, a glass beaker with a thin neck and if I wanna be extra paper mache
papier-mache has to set overnight! and you would need a LOT of newspaper to make a cone with no frame
Great one
Iain reminds me New Zealand comedians and the humour of Taskmaster nz
Best laid plans.
Pretty sure I know why i was humming 'Too Much Volcano' .
Joe’s was exactly like something his character in inbetweeners would do lol
The really funny thing about Pompeii is that the people are so well preserved because the lava was cool enough that many of them had time to curl up in pain before dying from the heat, rather than having their bodies/flesh torn apart.
Yes, that’s hilarious
Quite funny indeed my good sir.
Are you going to make season 12 available?
That was fun
3:05
What material did Lou use?
lol poor Iain
La Palma people right now be like 👁👃🏼👁
oh my god there’s a livestream of the eruption right now as the first recommendation for this video
5:34 I should call her
Vinegar and baking soda
Should have done some elephant toothpaste
The second one didn’t work cause he poured the coke too fast and gaz went out sad :(
Why is Paul wearing a bathrobe all series?
He's got frozen shoulder or a rotator cuff tear or something in his right arm so a robe is probably just easier to put on.
It’s his costume for the tasks
I think Ian isn’t too far off I think it is fire mountain in a different language where Vol is fire
The name comes from Vulcan, the Roman god of fire.
Okay, I took a few minutes and came up with my volcano idea. Pressurized air tank. Hose, funnel, vertical pipe full of coffee creamer powder. Cover in mound of sand and gravel, leaving the end of the tube uncovered. Sparkler stuck in the coffee creamer.
Release pressurized air through hose under powder. Film in slow motion.
Yes, Mythbusters.
Who’s The hot brown haired actor?
this season wld have been so much better without Iain Stirling
Why?
He's quite unbearable.
Build the best volcano:
Me who is a male: "Ferb, I know what we're gonna do today"
I give this cast 2 points. Are they d list celebs over there? I have never seen any of them before.
Well if you’re not British than probably wouldn’t of. Watch a bunch of British shows with comedians and you’ll see them.
Joe Thomas starred in one of the most iconic British sitcoms
Supposed to shake the mentos in with the coke in a bottle they don’t work if you just drop
Them in 🤦♂️
clearly you havent seen Joe‘s „second eruption“...
They do work if you drop them in but because he poured the coke out, it lost most of its carbonation. I did the experiment when I was a kid. Got a bottle of Diet Coke and dropped a couple mentos one and it went multiple metres into the sky.
It would be really cool if, after watching all of the full episodes, you guys didn't just make a crap ton of short videos of each task to spam the recommended list...
Well, they never said it needed to be an erupting volcano
