I love that one of the best attempts was Romesh's complete lack of one.

Romesh is living proof of the saying "When going bear hunting, you don't need to be fast. You just need to be faster than your slowest companion".
its kinda funny because that old saying isnt even true... the bear may very well continue chasing you, situationally dependent of course... obvously your slow friend might still get caught by a bear, but the bear might be more focused on the more energetic faster target, because it can always go back for the slowest moving one, even if just out of interest. unless the bear is just starving, in which case who knows... might just eat the easiest thing it can get its teeth on.
If you're the one hunting speed isn't a factor. The bear will be dead before it sees you.
Is that really a saying? Because that makes no sense... If you are going bear hunting, why don't you just hunt and shoot the bear instead of letting IT hunt YOU? If you, before you're going bear hunting, are thinking "I must bring slow companions on this hunt", then you're just planning for failure.

@@cobaren5883 that makes more sense as even without firearms or any weapons in the equation, you could still use traps for hunting. Unless it strictly needs for you to be physically active, which in hunting, it only needs for the prey to die first regardless of running speed.
I'm noticing a distinct lack of arches, in which, I am told, there is strength.

An even easier solution was just to climb on the roof and hold it up.

Sometimes the contestants go at it with him and with each other; to wit: James Acaster and Rhod Gilbert in the "Build an extension to the Taskmaster's house".

Romesh was the only one who took the "don't break the egg" seriously enough, and as a result it's a real miracle he didn't come in first place by default.

@@raulw858 or do that on a roof or any high place (such as the second floor, etc.) with less angle enough to be stable by bringing the table with you and have Alex measure from the ground. The table isn't really necessary but would give a bit more height in case another participant thought similarly.

With any task involving an egg and the instructions say you cannot break the egg, it's best to play it safe, cause chances are everyone else won't, and will break their eggs.
if i was participating, i would probably preemtively cook it before opening the task...

Despite it being the winning strategy it still baffles me how many of them thought to just THROW THE EGG.

I love that you could have walked to the second story with the egg in your pocket, and then held it over your head and you'd have an extremely strong chance of winning.
What I find funny is that any one of the could have gotten second by literally just holding the egg above their head.

Open all the coloring pens. Make a circle of the pens around the egg with the tips pointing at it as close as possible.

I was so amazed no one went to the tallest building waited for the last 3 seconds and then just tossed it off of it. the challenge is to get is has has has possible in 20 minutes without breaking it does not say it has to be in once piece after those 20 minutes have passed.

Or draw a line for ground on the paper, put the egg higher on the paper, draw a measuring stick, and make it as high as you want

Apparently they don't allow the contestants to go on the roof for safety reasons (mentioned in the TM podcast, I think), all of these are good plans though XD

I would have picked up the egg, secured it safely, climbed up onto the roof, and held it up in the air in my fingers.
Contestants aren't allowed to climb the Taskmaster house roof because of safety regulations.

They are not allowed to go on the roof for insurance reasons.

Just like in sports, if the attempt is in the air, the time ends when the attempt ends. So, broken egg in overtime is still counted as broken, since the task was still going.

Absolute heartbreak when frank skinner's egg broke
My first thought was to tape it on the roof of the house
Romesh ABSOLUTELY won this! Everyone else broke their egg except Josh was it? But he did not use ‘only the items on the table to get his egg the highest!’ He simply threw it in the air using his body. Bloody rule breaker.
There's a ladder in the shed. Climb onto the roof of the house, stand on the ridgebeam, and hold the egg as high as you can.
I'm science teacher at my own private school. We have an annual "egg drop" contest; supplying myriad materials. Here's the best thing: a small paper bag, a cup or so of sand, the raw egg on top. Go up to the playhouse deck and drop the egg 12', which doesn't break!
I saw Romesh go "I could've done with a box" and for the first time in a decade I made an origami box, entirely out of muscle memory, just to see if I could've gotten somewhere with this

Everyone's talking about Romesh but Roisin's legendary throw is the bit that makes me uncontrollably cackle.
I'll be honest, I thought it was going to go one step further: Josh successfully tosses the egg up, but they determine that Romesh's table egg is objectively higher from the ground (maybe being upstairs in the house vs. downstairs/out in the yard) than the height of Josh's air egg.
As far as I can tell, it's a one-floor house. I don't think there's an "upstairs".

There's something wrong here. The task stated: "using only the items on the table". Yet, Josh clearly used his arms to sling the egg up in the air.
One could argue that he had his hands on the table while reading the task.
I've watched several seasons of taskmaster start to finish and have come to the conclusion that just doing the bare minimum and not trying to get the highest possible score will win the most points. Not because you're particularly talented, but because the contestants love making them selves out to be buffoons.
Wrap the egg in paper (whatever), take it outside, climb a ladder/roof/tree, climb down. Done.
I wouldn't be any fun at these challenges, but I'd win every goddamn one of them.

With a ladder you're using an item that wasn't part of the "on the table items", and would get you disqualified.. But, yes. maybe standing on the table would do it. Or simply going to the first floor and holding it outside of a window and measure from ground level. As you can't really consider the house to be a "item"
Sometimes I do with contestants would look for loopholes more in the tasks.
