We cannot get the beeps after we type in the 22* code...What are we doing wrong and how do we get the beeps. Really desperate to change the code.

I have a s&g 6100. I can open the lock using an 8 digit code. (Which I have) but when I use the same code to trying to change the code, by pressing 22*# I get the error beep.I cant seem to find the manual for the 6100. Can you give me some advise?
Is the pound key on this K-Pad the same as the "Reset" pad on Liberty safes ?
We lost the manual and the door is closed it is posible to configure it like that.
When I push 22* and then the old code, all it does is activate the unlocking mechanism. Is there something else I can try??? Anyone??? LoL!!!
