Ruined by power and greed: The story of Malcolm Landgraab

- So every and again I like to give the spotlight to one character in particular and make a little video about their story and today we are talking about the greedy, filthy rich business tycoon that is Malcolm Landgraab!
The first time we meet the now infamous Malcolm Landgrab wasn’t actually in the sims, no no it was in simcity 3000 way back in 1999. He was a wealthy Businessman even back then, although he did look quite different to the Malcolm we known and love today. He would mainly just pop up on occasions with building planning suggestions.
Malcolm hit our screens again with the sims 1 on console if you played the get a life mode. You’ll be pleased to know that there was some consistency with his story, still working in the real estate business, although semi retired, he does still dabble in home renovations.
I feel like many sims have a period of time where they are in their hey day! The Lothario and Pleasant family’s hey day was the sims 2 for example and for Malcolm Landgraab, I think the sims 1 series was where he had the most attention.
I say series, because Malcolm returned for another big role in the Sims Bustin out, another story based game whereby your sim has to go around helping others by progressing in each career and giving them money. Why do they need money you ask? Because the greedy Malcolm Landgraab owns all the properties and is demanding his rent!
Malcolm only makes an appearance in the console versions of the sims 1, however there are a few references to the landgrab family in the pc version, for example there is souvenir objects and a painting that both include Admiral Landgraab, a presumed distant relative.
And then came the sims 2.
And in this game, there was a Malcolm Landgraab, but not the bloke we’ve known up until now. Malcolm Landgraab iv was introduced with the sims 2 open for Business expansion pack. He lives in Bluewater Village, a town owned by the Landgraab family. This Malcolm is unemployed but he owns a couple of the businesses in that area so he’s doing ok.
In The Sims 3 Malcolm lives in the world of sunset valley with his parents, Geoffrey and Nancy Landgraab. Malcolm just wants to be a normal kid, but his mother wants to groom him to be a top business man, given that her time is usually spent working, Malcolm doesn’t get much quality time with her, so as a child he is naturally closer to his father
And finally we got the sims 4! This game is set on an alternative timeline so nothing really matters at this point. Malcolm Landgraab is a teenager living with his parents Nancy and Geoffrey.

@kkkrevolution3307 Yeah I'm pretty sure that it's an earlier Landgraab with the same name and not her son, so many of the males in the family are named Malcolm. A look through their family tree holds about 6 potential Sims with "Malcolm Landgraab" as their title

Me neither. I've always wondered what Malcolm's history was after reading the description that he was from Sunset Valley and moved to Moonlight Bay.
On sims 4 I lived next door to Malcom and his parents, he aged up into a young adult and my character and him hooked up, immediately afterwards he destroyed my son’s dollhouse. So you know what had to be done. Rip
Oh dude I remember that my first sim I ever made was dating land grab for a while, then I found out he had the evil trait. No wonder he kept kicking over my trashcans
Sims 3 Malcolm was good, while all the others (including this Sims 4 version) were evil. Johnny Zest seems more like Sunset Valley Malcolm to me than Oasis Springs Malcolm. Perhaps he changed his name after he was dishoned by his mother, and she named her next son as Malcolm and made him her heir.
that’s literally exactly what my theory was too! i have that exact storyline setup in the save file ive been working on!!
I feel like Sims 2 Malcolm is also different that even his upbringing is more like high expectations dumping on him by his family that he had to keep up and still wanted to do his own thing. (Well, that's what I seem to understand from his story)

Malcolm in sims 4 is inconsistant.. The lack of lore is very frustrating. Everything seems so boring while in other sims game chaos mysteries and intrigues were everywhere - even in past and future, thanks to into the future.
So Bustin out is way later in the timeline.

The Landgraabs are very fun to play with but also infuriating because of the lack of consistency across games. I'm not really sure if the sweet geeky Malcolm from Sims 3 is really the same as the evil Sims 1 Malcolm. Maybe that was the intention but they could have at least tried to make their personalities and stories match! I do, however, support the idea that there could be multiple branches of the family and that Malcolm is a popular family name, but still - it's sort of annoying :(
Yeah just because there are several Malcolm Landgraab's in the family across multiple generations doesn't mean they are THE Malcolm Landgraab from Sims 1. All these other Malcolm Landgrabs are blond while the one from Sims 1 has very black hair.

Ok, so Malcom Landgrab "gets hitched" with his mom in Sims1, if I heard you right. Then in the Sims Mobile he marries or is married to a sim portrayed as his mother in previous iterations. hmmm. Can you play that one out in Sims4? Break the family tree and the game, eh?

Love the landgraabs, sims 1 console had just sparked a deep interest in landgraabs as a whole and i've never really let go of that interest. Maybe someday i can get sims 3 or put in the time to make an entirely custom town based on sims 1 + bustin' out. Really want to make and play a more accurate version of Malcolm to the og console games.

Malcolm's greed is cool, but in my series they were all fired from their jobs by Mr. Charles M. Burns who now owns everything in town. Safe to say, Landgraabs ain't that rich no mo'.

EA really made a shtitty bootleg frakenstines monster of previous game lore only to water it down like a crumpled up piece of tissue paper in a glass of week old water then douse it in gasoline, lighting it ablaze and taking a piss on it to extinquish it before picking it up and throwing it into coding and just saying welp fuck it! before calling it the sims 4

Tbh I'm confused by the Landgraab family timeline/tree in the Sims lore....Sims 2 goes up from Malcolm IV to II but there seems no way for the Malcolm in 3 to be Malcolm I, and he also doesn't name his son Malcolm II.
It’s possible that he could be Malcolm 2, but without a jr. or II added to his name. I agree though it’s confusing trying to figure out which Malcolms are jrs and which one is meant to be first, especially since sims 4 changed the timeline and the Landgraabs don’t have a family tree with ancestors.
