  • A massive thank you to JBL for sending me this Koi Water test kit for me to test & Review.
Very impressed with how easier it is to read the results. Oxygen test kit is a must and included in this Koi pond test. I would definitely recommend this Koi Pond Test kit above the most common used in the UK anyway.

Loved this video Lau, really fascintating. Very impressed with the kit: the method to compare colours alone won me over, such an elegant solution to a long standing problem. I have the exact some problem as you with nitrate in my tapwater, although as long as it's never at a level that's harmful to the fish I don't mind so much. We both probably have filtration that can deal with the nitrate from the nitrification cycle, it's just it's having to fight with the tapwater nitrate too. I also agree with you on oxygen.
Btw love the white top you're wearing, it's giving that 'lab coat' look :)

Koi can be purchased in the US but before being allowed into Canada require both a veterinary health certificate for the koi as well as import certificates from the Canadian government. Obtaining the appropriate paperwork can take 2-3 weeks or more before the fish can be shipped. Hi, great work, thanks to this video I bought one JBL kit as well. Today I was reviewing this video and noticed that on the O2 test you didn't fill the vessel all the way to the top, in the instructions they say is important that between drop 2 and 3, wen you shake it, there must not be any air in. Again, I am not a critic, I like very much of your channel. I just want to warn you that the readings that you are getting my not be correct. (sorry for my poor English, i'm portuguese)

Hi, thank you for watching. It's a great water test kit. I still use it.
I have done several test with the O2 test, and you will see, there is no difference at all if you fill the bottle completely or almost to the top. As long as you keep the bottle closed so no oxygen goes in during the test. But well spotted.
And your English is amazing. Well done.
Do you keep koi or other fish?

Hi Lau, do you still use this kit? I am in the market for a new one now my NT Labs has run out. It is quite the price jump but looks like it may be worth it. I remember watching this video when it came out so I came back to watch it again - very helpful, thank you!

Hi Simon, I don't use it anymore as the liquids are now out of date. I have the Hanna checker for chlorine and nitrite. I test the ammonia and KH with with the NT labs

That is good to know, I wondered if getting refills would be difficult and/or expensive.

@@Simon.Bryant I have just looked for you and you can get the refills from Pond Planet. The Ammonia is actually NH4 so ammonium, there is a conversion to do for this one. But all the others are available individually. Yon Pond Planet website if you type JBL test, you will find them there.
