Right so I banged the water lettuce and the evolution aqua balls in a week or so ago and I was absolutely shocked at the results in the fight to build good bacteria and lower the pond nitrites and nitrates in my koi pond.
I'm keen to start aquaponics properly next year but this has given me encouragement with my pond.
Plus absolutely buzzing the @TheRollingStones are back!!!! Literally buzzing and you can see this as I sing along and get excited about "Dont get angry at me"
Im also naming 4 of my koi after the guys and the sun is shining so happy days.

Great update Johnny Lad! Pond maturing well, keep a close eye on that K.H. It caught me out this year, p.h. crash from Mars mate but got over it well with good old bicarbonate.
From mars you say Tim 🪐 (I know thats not mars closest I could get). Made me lol this mate but yeah mad isnt it just random changes, will keep an eye out for KH but to be honest mines super high at 12-14 and is so out the tap.

Mate thank you so much for telling us about this. Honestly made us giddy and felt like a Time Machine of awesomeness and happy memories (and maybe some bad). EPIC. Video cool and took you on a journey like their songs do mate just so happy to have new music. Feel blessed 😇 and now starting arguements with wife just so I can sing 1 line at her 😂😂😂😂
Plants do lower nitrate, but only really when they're growing, so affect can vary during the year/their lifespan. However, I've got a ton of plants in my pond, but last year (not bothered testing for nitrate this year) I'd still have up to 20ppm, not harmful in anyway (aside from algae growth, but I found it a mystery. Basically, it was due to two things - 1) My tapwater was also at 20ppm, and 2) my filtration, while great at managing ammonia and nitrite, didn't have any nitrate-specific media/systems.
Tbh I don't really care too much, it's not harmful, the plants do keep it at bay duirng the heavier feeding times of year as they match with when the plants are growing their most. Also, my pond/filtration is super matured and stable and I'm loathe to tinker/change anything chasing 'perfect' parameters. Ammonia/nitrite are basically zero, pH is super stable, and, as I have wild-strain carp rather than koi, my fish are quite robust to any small fluctuations.

Water, like all liquids has a meniscus. It is the point where water meets air and is either concave or convex - depending on the ratio/pressure. A droplet of water on a flat surface will have a domed meniscus and this will be reflective. A droplet of mercury will have a much tighter meniscus and form a ball.
