Just got my delivery of the card game. Showed my girlfriend, she tried it out to see how it worked. We ended up going through more than ten cards and had interesting conversations along the way while getting a better understanding of how the other thinks in certain situations. Can't wait to try it with friends and larger groups.
Man, it's been great having the fellas all in the same room for these last few shows.

I think the assumption of benevolence in tech is a method of incentivizing non activity. Think of the stated use vs the most profitable use and youll see the issue with many things - case in point dating apps dont make money from working very well - or people wouldn't stay on it
Dating apps are like hospitals. The assumption is there will always be someone who needs it. They don't need to f it up. We humans will do it ourselves even once paired with the perfect match.
Plus there will always be a new group who have aged in, divorcees, widows, etc

Idk if this is gonna sound too generic, but I gotta throw in a lil testimonial for the card game. I got it and introduced it to my friend group and I thought we would fly through it, but each card really got us all going back and forth and opening up in interesting ways. I would like an AI assistant to do the necessary background check. How about ones that compiles a report on what they said about their past exes on SM? Prison? Driving record? Employment record? Etc.

I feel like curation of who we get matched with is a great thing. It's why we go to these sites and apps. The problem is the black box that these "AI" and algos work in to make these decisions for us. They scrape data about us we have little to no visibility into and prioritize it in ways we have no idea about. I don't want or need that level of personal transparency while they have zero. And that's without even discussing all the interests they sell that data to without telling us.
This AI dating was actually the topic of my favorite Black Mirror episode.

0:31 that’s actually a really good question. My gut reaction was it would be more acceptable for two men, but anecdotal and biological evidence show men have a big maturity jump late 20’s to 30’s and women have it 20’s. Maybe biological and societal factors as to why.
So as I think about it, mentally it may be even worse as an on average fully developed mind versus and underdeveloped one is a fundamental part of the age gap problem, not just a raw number

Personally, I think 22 is old enough purely from the standpoint of just having sex. The power dynamic becomes more of a result of the socio-economic conditions most 22 year-old find themselves in.
Naw, I think the AI/Tech part was a pretty bad take from all of yall this time around. We have actually gotten SCARILY close to extermination/disaster Multiple times since nuclear weapons came out. There's literally been at least two close calls with nukes that has ONLY been stopped thanks to people questioning the computers.
Furthermore, the internet, though really awesome, has also been really fckn terrible. Facebook literally caused the Myanmar genocide and a number of other issues.
We have record high numbers of depression, anxiety, loneliness, and suicide due to in large part to the internet (specifically social media).
The internet is certainly not the only cause of all this, but other tech like urban sprawl, car-dependency, and capitalism are all the main causal factors.
Not to mention all the damn pollution in our environments And bodies?!
Our technology is a HUGE reason as to why the world is so bad right now. Like 'objectively' (given almost any given standard of human fulfillment) not good.
