I don't think you have fairly represented what Marsha Linehan says about guilt and shame. She refers to shame frequently being a (rapid) secondary emotion to guilt, so they do frequently come together. The logic is clear: "I've done a bad thing" can trigger "I am a bad person" so quickly that the shame is the dominant emotion in the person's awareness.
I see no evidence in this presentation of Linehan being in error.

Adoption is not a "charitable act", please use a different expression and don't encourage adoptions for unappropriate reasons

your comments about an abortion being a shameful behavior is absolutely repulsive. there was no need for it in an otherwise fine presentation. you are spreading misinformation and hate.

So DBT treats shame with patient blaming and more shaming. No thanks. I'd prefer working with a therapist that uses evidence based modalities.

@@abdullaalteneiji6533 You can call it that. But trying to avoid abusive people isn't necessarily a bad thing.

      DBT isn't evidence based? Huh..🤔
So is it shaming for someone to stop bad behaviors, make amends for their past offenses, and develop self compassion? Or rather is it adapting irrational feelings and beliefs to reflect reality through the process of self examination and validation? Which of these processes is meant to blame the patient and cause them shame?

DBT IS evidence based. Same as every other contextual therapy such ACT, FAP therapy or behavioural activation. All of them have a strong behavioral base too.
